0:00:01 > 0:00:04Hello. The weather has been particularly mild over the past week

0:00:04 > 0:00:05or so and we are likely to start

0:00:05 > 0:00:08this new working week on a pretty mild note too.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11In fact, temperatures likely to be up to around 18 or 19 degrees

0:00:11 > 0:00:13on Monday, but the temperature trend for the rest of the week,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16those temperatures really taking a tumble.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Struggling to reach double figures for many of us by the time we

0:00:19 > 0:00:21get to Wednesday and Thursday.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Let's take a look at the start of the week.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25For Monday, high pressure still in charge for most of us.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27We've got this weather front which is just pushing in

0:00:27 > 0:00:30to northern and north-western parts of the country.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32As that pushes south over the next few days,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35it is going to squeeze away this mild air towards the south.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38You can see the blue colours returning to the map as we

0:00:38 > 0:00:41start to draw in a colder air mass from the north and north-west.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44So back to the here and now, for Monday we have got some mist

0:00:44 > 0:00:46and fog around first thing.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49Particularly through central and southern parts of England and Wales.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Mist and fog slowly clearing and I think there will be

0:00:51 > 0:00:52a bit more sunshine,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55particularly across southern England and Wales compared to recent days.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Temperatures here up to around 17 or 18 degrees.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Further north, we've got a bit more cloud for northern England,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03southern Scotland and Northern Ireland and some rain moving

0:01:03 > 0:01:06into northern and central parts of Scotland later in the day.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08That rain will shift its way south

0:01:08 > 0:01:10overnight Monday and into Tuesday.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Towards the south of that front we're still in the mild murky air.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16So, yet again, some mist and some fog around Tuesday morning.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18Reduced visibility here.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Whereas further north, fresher, clearer conditions.

0:01:20 > 0:01:22A cold north-westerly wind,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24quite breezy conditions for northern Scotland.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Temperatures in single figures towards the north.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29With all that mist and fog around first thing Tuesday,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32we could well see some disruption to travel.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Some tricky driving conditions over the next few mornings, in fact,

0:01:35 > 0:01:39with patchy mist and some locally dense fog patches.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41So on to the latter part of Tuesday then.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43We're going to be losing that weather front.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45It is pushing away towards the south and then higher pressure

0:01:45 > 0:01:47builds in from the west once again.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50So with that high pressure, light winds and clear skies.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Wednesday is going to start off on a chilly note.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55-3 across rural parts of Scotland.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58The first widespread significant frost of the season for

0:01:58 > 0:01:59Wednesday morning.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Now, after that chilly start, not a bad day at all.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Lots of dry weather, plenty of sunshine.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06It will feel significantly cooler than it has done.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09In fact, 10 degrees cooler in some areas and the cool feel

0:02:09 > 0:02:12really exacerbated by that cool north-westerly wind,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14particularly around the eastern coast.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Heading through to the middle part of the week

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Wednesday into Thursday and then onto Friday as well.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19We're going to start to see this

0:02:19 > 0:02:21frontal system heading in from the north-west.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24Before it gets there, high pressure keeps things pretty quiet

0:02:24 > 0:02:27throughout the day on Thursday.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Again, some frost and some fog to start the day which should

0:02:30 > 0:02:33clear away to leave sunny spells for the most part in the afternoon.

0:02:33 > 0:02:349 to 12 degrees.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37But rain arriving in the north-west.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41This weather front will start push southwards and eastwards

0:02:41 > 0:02:45across the UK, so lower pressure in charge as we end the working week.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Friday probably the most unsettled day.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50In terms of most areas we'll see some showery rain,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53but it is a little bit milder in the south-east with temperatures

0:02:53 > 0:02:55back up to around 13 degrees or so.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59Not as much in the way of fog and frost on Friday.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02As we end the week and look into next weekend and beyond,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04it looks like low pressure will just about push off towards

0:03:04 > 0:03:08the south-east and we'll also see higher pressure once again trying to

0:03:08 > 0:03:10nudge in from the Atlantic.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13That leaves us with this fairly cool north-westerly airflow.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16So through the course of next week and beyond,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18things are going to be staying pretty chilly,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20we'll see frost and fog at times too

0:03:20 > 0:03:23but there is a lot of dry weather in the forecast.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Just a few scattered showers at times,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27more particularly towards the end of the period.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28We'll keep you

0:03:28 > 0:03:30up-to-date right here.

0:03:30 > 0:03:31Bye-bye.
