0:00:02 > 0:00:04Tuesday saw quite a variety of weather across the

0:00:04 > 0:00:06United Kingdom as is often the case.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09It was captured nicely by some of our weather watchers.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12Here's just a couple of examples. A lucky few saw some sunshine.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14That's the view in the afternoon across

0:00:14 > 0:00:15the Highlands of Scotland

0:00:15 > 0:00:18Pretty good one but it certainly wasn't like that for all.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20For many it was like this with some

0:00:20 > 0:00:21low cloud and

0:00:21 > 0:00:23mist lingering into the afternoon.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25A little bit of rain to go with that.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27But at least it was a mild day and it stays mild for the rest of

0:00:27 > 0:00:28this week.

0:00:28 > 0:00:32A fair bit of cloud in the forecast and most of the rain will be

0:00:32 > 0:00:34on the western side of the UK.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35We've got some rain

0:00:35 > 0:00:37coming in from the west for Wednesday

0:00:37 > 0:00:39morning and notice a fair number of isobars,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41as well so it's breezy but the

0:00:41 > 0:00:43breeze is coming in from the south.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45And that's bringing mild air with it.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48That mild air pushes right the way across the UK.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51Temperatures will be doing very well for this stage in September.

0:00:51 > 0:00:558 o'clock in the morning it's 10-11 degrees across large parts of

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Scotland, but a lot of cloud and some rain.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59The rain heaviest in some central and western parts.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Breezy too.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Breezy and wet in Northern Ireland through the morning.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Things should improve through the afternoon.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06It is mild, 10-11 degrees.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Across England and Wales, 9-10 degrees quite widely.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10A lot of cloud through the morning.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Some of that's quite low over the hills.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15There's some hill fog and poor visibility to go with that.

0:01:15 > 0:01:16But most places are dry except in Cornwall,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18a little bit or rain here.

0:01:18 > 0:01:19This band of rain wants to move

0:01:19 > 0:01:21eastwards but it's a slow

0:01:21 > 0:01:24process so we will see a little rain in western Wales into Cornwall.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Northern Ireland should dry up into the afternoon but it will

0:01:27 > 0:01:29be fairly wet for large parts of Scotland.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Much of the eastern side of Wales, eastern England,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34after a great start we brighten things up from the south.

0:01:34 > 0:01:3613-14 with a bit of sunshine but it is

0:01:36 > 0:01:40a double digit day across the board.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43Through the evening our weather front generally fizzles out.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45We look out west for the next system to head our way.

0:01:45 > 0:01:48This is trying to move eastwards but it's running into a big area

0:01:48 > 0:01:51of high pressure across the near continent which will slow it down.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53It will get into Northern Ireland through the day.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Breezy with rain coming in from the west later on.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Ahead of that, dribs and drabs of rain really across Scotland

0:01:58 > 0:01:59and Northern England.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01The further south you are it's largely dry.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05And maybe a bit of sunshine here and there but generally a lot of cloud.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09Still mild, 10 or 11 degrees in the south. 8 and 9 further north.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Through Friday on into Saturday high

0:02:12 > 0:02:14pressure builds across the UK

0:02:14 > 0:02:15and away from the northwest most

0:02:15 > 0:02:16places will be fine and dry

0:02:16 > 0:02:18and not particularly windy.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21By Sunday high pressure still in charge of our weather.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23The strongest winds will be in the north and west.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Little bit of rainfall here.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Elsewhere it's a largely dry if cloudy picture.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Temperatures are coming down a little bit but still doing

0:02:31 > 0:02:32quite well for this time of year.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36Into the early part of next week we'll take a look at the

0:02:36 > 0:02:38jet stream because it's powerful on the western side of the Atlantic.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41As it gets further east it has a tendency to split,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43it goes to the north and south of us.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44And that allows this big area of

0:02:44 > 0:02:46high pressure to dominate.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47That will be a blocking high

0:02:47 > 0:02:48stopping weather fronts

0:02:48 > 0:02:51coming in from the Atlantic.

0:02:51 > 0:02:52Underneath that area of

0:02:52 > 0:02:54high pressure there's going to be

0:02:54 > 0:02:55a lot of dry weather, that's for sure.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Particularly for central and eastern areas.

0:02:57 > 0:02:58There will be spells

0:02:58 > 0:03:01of sunshine but difficult to be pinpoint

0:03:01 > 0:03:03accurate with exactly where is going to see that.

0:03:03 > 0:03:04Where you do see sunshine

0:03:04 > 0:03:06you could see frost in the mornings.

0:03:06 > 0:03:08Equally some places could be quite

0:03:08 > 0:03:09grey with some patches of fog,

0:03:09 > 0:03:11particularly where the winds are quite light and the fog could

0:03:11 > 0:03:13lift into fairly low cloud.

0:03:13 > 0:03:14But there's a lot of dry

0:03:14 > 0:03:16weather in the forecast.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Even on into the latter part of next

0:03:18 > 0:03:19week it looks dry for most

0:03:19 > 0:03:20places most of the time.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29A further update tomorrow.
