0:00:00 > 0:00:03Hello. So far with this week's weather,

0:00:03 > 0:00:06we've been on a little bit of a rollercoaster ride of temperatures.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08No two days the same.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10One morning we're greeted with cold,

0:00:10 > 0:00:14frosty weather conditions just like Thursday.

0:00:14 > 0:00:18A beautiful start, but bitterly cold with temperatures down to -8.

0:00:18 > 0:00:21This Friday, it was a different story, all change,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23milder air flooding in from the west.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25It brought cloudier conditions for most of us

0:00:25 > 0:00:26and some outbreaks of rain.

0:00:26 > 0:00:30That rain will continue to push in from the west accompanied by

0:00:30 > 0:00:33a strengthening south-westerly breeze driving in milder air.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Ahead of it, after a chilly start, it looks as though we'll

0:00:36 > 0:00:39cling on to some sunshine across the south-east during daylight hours.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Here, still on the chilly side, with 4 or 5 degrees.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Up into the north-west behind that weather front,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47milder air starts to push through.

0:00:47 > 0:00:51It's going to be the milder air that wins the story through the weather

0:00:51 > 0:00:54over the weekend, pushing the cold air back into the near continent.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56So, for many of us, we'll see those temperatures slightly above

0:00:56 > 0:00:58average for the time of year,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00once the rain has cleared away.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03It pushes through during the early hours of Saturday morning,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06behind it misty, perhaps some hill fog around first thing.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08A lot of low, grey cloud,

0:01:08 > 0:01:11but not a bad day for many and temperatures will respond.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13A bit more of a breeze up into the north,

0:01:13 > 0:01:17but highs of 6 to 12 degrees is quite likely.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20As we move out of Saturday into Sunday,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22we see this weak weather front pushing into the north-west.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25The winds strengthening here, but on the whole,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28high pressure still very much in the driving seat.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30That means very little in the way of change.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32It looks as though we keep the cloudy conditions.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Early morning mist and fog could be an issue for a time,

0:01:35 > 0:01:38but not for long. That will lift away.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40It stays rather dull, largely dry,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43the cloud thick enough for a spot of drizzle from time to time.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46All change though as we move into Monday,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48so make the most of the weekend's weather.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Milder for many, a lot of cloud around and the cloud thick

0:01:51 > 0:01:54enough from time to time for some patchy drizzle.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58So the first change comes into Monday as we see some wetter

0:01:58 > 0:02:01and windier weather pushing in from the north-west.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04The isobars squeezing together. Gales are quite likely.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Some of that rain could be quite heavy as it pushes into the

0:02:07 > 0:02:11north-west of the country slowly sinking its way steadily south.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14So it's going to be a wet and windy, but a mild affair during Monday.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Again, staying largely dry during daylight hours with double

0:02:17 > 0:02:19figures widely across the country.

0:02:19 > 0:02:20Something a little bit cooler

0:02:20 > 0:02:24and fresher starts to show its hand as we move out of Monday.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27The isobars are still tightly packed together,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30the wind swinging round to a more north-westerly direction

0:02:30 > 0:02:32before the next area of low pressure moves in.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36This is going to be the general trend as we move through next week.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40So, we've been looking at a six to ten-day forecast of the jet stream.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42We now have associated that it is strengthening and sitting up

0:02:42 > 0:02:46to the far north and that's allowing these low pressure systems to

0:02:46 > 0:02:47move in from the Atlantic.

0:02:47 > 0:02:51Things turning a little more mobile, a little more unsettled.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53If we look at a low in a little more detail, though,

0:02:53 > 0:02:57as the low approaches, it drives in and it pulls in this milder air.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01But then, as the low clears away on the back edge of that low,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03we see a north-westerly flow.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05The colder air set to return.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09This is why we're getting this rollercoaster feel of temperatures.

0:03:09 > 0:03:13One day will be cloudy and often wet at times and that's likely

0:03:13 > 0:03:15into the six to ten-day period.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18But as the low pulls away, we'll see that colder air digging in.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21So it will be on the chilly side, but hopefully from time to time

0:03:21 > 0:03:24we'll get a little more in the way of sunshine.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25That's how it's looking.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Whatever you are doing this weekend,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29enjoy and bear in mind things turn unsettled next week.
