0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. We've seen some fairly cold and bright weather

0:00:05 > 0:00:06over the past couple of days,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08but things have been turning milder and cloudier

0:00:08 > 0:00:11through the course of Friday and as we head through the weekend,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13that theme to the weather is set to continue.

0:00:13 > 0:00:14The cold air that's been with us

0:00:14 > 0:00:16moving away towards the east

0:00:16 > 0:00:17and what we're seeing is this milder air

0:00:17 > 0:00:19moving in from the Atlantic

0:00:19 > 0:00:21so that's going to be staying put through the weekend.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23Things are looking generally mild and frost-free.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26Still pretty cloudy, I think, over the next couple of days

0:00:26 > 0:00:28and there'll be a little bit of patchy drizzle around,

0:00:28 > 0:00:30but, equally, some wintry sunshine,

0:00:30 > 0:00:31especially towards the north.

0:00:31 > 0:00:33So, this is how Saturday's looking.

0:00:33 > 0:00:34High pressure is with us

0:00:34 > 0:00:35so lots of dry weather.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37A little bit of patchy light rain

0:00:37 > 0:00:39and drizzle across parts of southern England,

0:00:39 > 0:00:40into Wales as well.

0:00:40 > 0:00:41Further north across the country,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43that's your best bet of catching some sunshine.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45For northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:00:45 > 0:00:46some bright spells here,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48but temperatures in single figures.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Milder, ten or 11 towards the south,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51but pretty murky

0:00:51 > 0:00:53with quite a lot of low cloud and hill fog.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Heading through into the second half of the weekend,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57then, overnight Saturday into Sunday,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59we've still got a lot of cloud around

0:00:59 > 0:01:01so some mist, some hill fog,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03most of us frost-free under that cloud.

0:01:03 > 0:01:04There could be a bit of frost

0:01:04 > 0:01:05across rural parts of Scotland,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08perhaps into the northeast of England, too.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10To start the day on Sunday, then, quite a murky start.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11Some mist, some fog

0:01:11 > 0:01:13and some low cloud around, too.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Most of us looking dry with light winds.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Temperatures ten or 11 towards the west,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19but slightly fresher in the east.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21So, as we head into the new working week,

0:01:21 > 0:01:23what we're going to see is high pressure

0:01:23 > 0:01:24sitting out to the south

0:01:24 > 0:01:25or the southwest of the UK.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28We've got this weather front Sunday night

0:01:28 > 0:01:29trying to move into the northwest

0:01:29 > 0:01:31and the isobars becoming quite close here

0:01:31 > 0:01:33so, really, as we set up the week ahead,

0:01:33 > 0:01:34what we are going to see

0:01:34 > 0:01:36is high pressure out to the southwest.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38The jet stream orientated from west to east

0:01:38 > 0:01:39across the Atlantic,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42bringing us areas of low pressure at times

0:01:42 > 0:01:44so the first of those low pressure systems

0:01:44 > 0:01:45arrives on Monday.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47It's going to be bringing some wet and windy weather

0:01:47 > 0:01:49initially to the northwest of the UK,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52pushing its way south-eastwards through the day.

0:01:52 > 0:01:53To the southeast of that, pretty mild.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Double figures, slightly cooler conditions

0:01:55 > 0:01:57working in on that north-westerly breeze

0:01:57 > 0:01:58behind the weather front

0:01:58 > 0:02:00so once that front moves its way through,

0:02:00 > 0:02:02it does bring that spell of wet and windy weather

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and then we're back into quite a breezy spell

0:02:04 > 0:02:06of weather heading on into Tuesday.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08The winds coming in from a north-westerly direction

0:02:08 > 0:02:10so after a mild couple of days,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Tuesday once again turning that little bit colder,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14but we should see a return

0:02:14 > 0:02:16to some sunshine and temperatures

0:02:16 > 0:02:19generally around about seven to nine degrees

0:02:19 > 0:02:20for most of us.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22So, heading into the middle of the week, then,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24no great change in the set-up to the weather.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26We've still got high pressure out towards the southwest

0:02:26 > 0:02:29and again we've got frontal systems trying to move in

0:02:29 > 0:02:31from the Atlantic and head their way eastwards

0:02:31 > 0:02:32across the country.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34So, through the course of Wednesday and Thursday,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36through the middle part of the week,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38we're going to see these areas of low pressure

0:02:38 > 0:02:39bringing quite mild air at times

0:02:39 > 0:02:41with quite a lot of cloud,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43outbreaks of rain on these frontal systems

0:02:43 > 0:02:45and then to the rear of the frontal systems

0:02:45 > 0:02:47as they move their way eastwards.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49A return to a north-westerly flow

0:02:49 > 0:02:51so colder interludes in the weather

0:02:51 > 0:02:52through the middle of the week.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54As we look towards the end of the week,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57it looks like those colder north-westerly winds

0:02:57 > 0:02:58will tend to win out

0:02:58 > 0:03:01so we'll return to slightly drier conditions,

0:03:01 > 0:03:02but also colder.

0:03:02 > 0:03:03A chance of some wintry showers around,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05more particularly over the higher ground

0:03:05 > 0:03:06in the north and northwest.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09Down towards the south, things will look quieter

0:03:09 > 0:03:11with lighter winds so scenes like this likely,

0:03:11 > 0:03:12particularly in the south.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Some frost, possibly some fog around, too, at times,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17but further north, it will be quite cold

0:03:17 > 0:03:18so a dip in the temperatures once again

0:03:18 > 0:03:20as we look towards next weekend.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22There'll be some sunshine on offer,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24also the chance of some wintry showers,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26particularly over the higher ground in the north

0:03:26 > 0:03:28and a return to frost further south.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Bye for now.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38# How many times does an angel fall?
