0:00:01 > 0:00:04there's something heading your way coming the end of this week.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07For the time being, the real cold air is either side of us.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10There's one blast of Arctic air that's sitting in place

0:00:10 > 0:00:13across much of eastern Europe and there's another one out

0:00:13 > 0:00:14towards the east coast of the United States.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17We're sitting in mild air at the moment, but as the jet stream

0:00:17 > 0:00:20wakens up this week, we see an initial touch of cold air to start

0:00:20 > 0:00:23the week, milder weather mid week and then towards the end,

0:00:23 > 0:00:25we open the door at last to some Arctic air,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27which for some will mean a bit of snow.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Certainly not out there for Monday, but it does get colder

0:00:30 > 0:00:32through the day as this weather front pushes its way southwards.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Clearing Scotland and Northern Ireland by the end of

0:00:35 > 0:00:37the rush hour, spreading south across England and Wales

0:00:37 > 0:00:38late morning into the afternoon.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41South-westerly winds will continue towards the south-east corner.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Double figure temperatures here, but even with some sunshine,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45a scattering of showers,

0:00:45 > 0:00:48it feels colder for the second half of the day the further north you go.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50We could see severe gales affect northern Scotland

0:00:50 > 0:00:51to take us into the night.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54The showers continue here and around some other western areas.

0:00:54 > 0:00:57Southern and eastern parts become dry and clear and there could be

0:00:57 > 0:01:00a touch of frost for some to take us into Tuesday morning.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03So a colder start to the day compared with Monday morning

0:01:03 > 0:01:08and a colder start to Tuesday itself with north-westerly winds in place.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10We will see, though,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12through the day as this high pressure builds across

0:01:12 > 0:01:14the mid Atlantic, the wind's got a little bit more westerly

0:01:14 > 0:01:16and so with it we'll see more cloud spill in,

0:01:16 > 0:01:17the occasional rain and drizzle.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19We're back to the murky conditions over the hills,

0:01:19 > 0:01:23brightest for longest down eastern parts of Scotland and England.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Here, though, a fairly cool day, whereas in the west, we finish

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Tuesday afternoon with temperatures back into double figures.

0:01:29 > 0:01:33So a mild end to Tuesday, a mild night to come. Pretty windy night.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35In fact, strong winds throughout this week, really.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Strongest overnight will be across northern Scotland.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Severe gales, some heavy rain here.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42Cloud and patchy rain elsewhere,

0:01:42 > 0:01:45but eventually after a grey start brightening up very quickly.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47But we're back into north-westerly winds.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Temperatures actually dropping throughout Wednesday.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Back down to around 4 or 5 degrees across the north later in

0:01:52 > 0:01:55the day and we start to introduce some snow flurries.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57By the time we finish Wednesday and go into Thursday,

0:01:57 > 0:01:59this is when the doors really open to the Arctic.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02The air flooding its way southwards.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04We could just see a little weather feature push in across the south

0:02:04 > 0:02:06of England and the English Channel bringing rain,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08a little bit of sleet on its northern edge.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12But elsewhere, icy winds, frequent snow showers across the north

0:02:12 > 0:02:14and west giving a cover of snow for some of you even at lower levels.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Pinpointing those areas, though, very uncertain this far ahead

0:02:17 > 0:02:20but even further east we'll see a few flakes of snow at times.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24So I think most of you will see at least one or two flakes of snow.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26But wherever you are, a bitterly cold day in the wind.

0:02:26 > 0:02:30Temperatures made to feel more sub-zero thanks to that strength

0:02:30 > 0:02:33of the wind and that maintains through Thursday night into Friday.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Through the night and into Friday,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38severe gales expected and high and rough seas down North Sea coasts.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40We could still see some snow flurries.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42Icy conditions to start the day

0:02:42 > 0:02:44and we'll still see some wintery showers.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46Northern and western areas in particular.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Maybe some longer spells later on in the day.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Temperatures struggling to get above freezing.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Made to feel colder in that wind. Winds ease to take us into Saturday.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56It could be a very cold start to the weekend.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57But what happens beyond that,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59it looks like this area of low pressure

0:02:59 > 0:03:00is set to dominate the chart

0:03:00 > 0:03:03eventually bringing in south-westerly winds

0:03:03 > 0:03:06through the weekend and returning us back to greyer skies,

0:03:06 > 0:03:10damp and drizzly weather and those murky conditions across the west.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13There is just a small chance, and it is a diminishing chance,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16that high pressure will build across Scandinavia and easterly winds

0:03:16 > 0:03:19could tap into cold air across eastern parts of Europe

0:03:19 > 0:03:22at the moment meaning a much frostier and colder outlook.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24But at the moment, this is a most unlikely scenario.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28It looks like the milder winds will gradually win back. Bye for now.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Body of a young woman's just been found,

0:03:31 > 0:03:33on the beach of the Malbonne estate.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36I know this is a difficult time, but I need to ask a few questions.

0:03:36 > 0:03:37Can you open up, please?

0:03:37 > 0:03:39What were you and her arguing about?

0:03:39 > 0:03:42I had nothing to do with her death.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44Strange, isn't it? Doesn't quite make sense.
