0:00:02 > 0:00:03Over the past few days, the weather has been

0:00:03 > 0:00:05starting to feel a bit less like winter

0:00:05 > 0:00:07and rather more like spring.

0:00:07 > 0:00:11Certainly during the course of Saturday, we had a mild day,

0:00:11 > 0:00:12the warmest day of the year so far,

0:00:12 > 0:00:1415 degrees in North Wales.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16Here's the sunshine captured by a weather watcher

0:00:16 > 0:00:17in Kingston, Greater London,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19during the course of Saturday.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21Now, through the week ahead, things will stay mild,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23particularly for the first part of the week.

0:00:23 > 0:00:24There will be wind and rain at times,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26mainly towards the north-west,

0:00:26 > 0:00:28but equally, some sunshine around in the south and east,

0:00:28 > 0:00:31and where we do get that sunshine coming through on Monday,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33we could well see those thermometers rise

0:00:33 > 0:00:36to around about 17 Celsius or so

0:00:36 > 0:00:38in a few sheltered spots towards the east -

0:00:38 > 0:00:40not everyone seeing

0:00:40 > 0:00:42those very mild temperatures.

0:00:42 > 0:00:43Through Sunday, what have we got?

0:00:43 > 0:00:45We've got a lot of cloud moving in from the west,

0:00:45 > 0:00:46some of that low cloud

0:00:46 > 0:00:48bringing some mist, hill fog and drizzle

0:00:48 > 0:00:50for the likes of the west of Scotland,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51Northern Ireland, Wales

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and western parts of England, too.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Central and eastern parts of England

0:00:55 > 0:00:57and eastern Scotland should see the best

0:00:57 > 0:00:58of the sunshine, and here,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00we're likely to see temperatures

0:01:00 > 0:01:01of 12 or 13 degrees.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Further west, it looks like

0:01:03 > 0:01:04around 10 or 11 Celsius

0:01:04 > 0:01:06with the outbreaks of patchy rain

0:01:06 > 0:01:07and the low cloud and hill fog.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09We'll continue to see that rain

0:01:09 > 0:01:10across the west of Scotland,

0:01:10 > 0:01:11quite a breeze blowing here

0:01:11 > 0:01:12through Sunday night.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Some of that rain sinking south

0:01:14 > 0:01:16across parts of northern England and Wales.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18But we have got this very mild air

0:01:18 > 0:01:20sitting out towards the south-west

0:01:20 > 0:01:21and our winds are going to be coming

0:01:21 > 0:01:22from that direction,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24so blowing that very mild air

0:01:24 > 0:01:25across our shores.

0:01:25 > 0:01:26Not everyone is seeing it.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28It'll be fresher for Northern Ireland

0:01:28 > 0:01:29and Scotland, quite a breeze blowing here

0:01:29 > 0:01:31and outbreaks of rain,

0:01:31 > 0:01:32whereas further south and east

0:01:32 > 0:01:33across England and Wales,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35that's where you've got the mild air.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36Most places dry. Where the cloud breaks,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38we're likely to see temperatures

0:01:38 > 0:01:41as high as perhaps 15, even 17 degrees or so,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43just in a few spots.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Not quite as warm further north, though.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48So, we've still got that mild air with us

0:01:48 > 0:01:50as we head through the last part of Monday

0:01:50 > 0:01:51and on into Tuesday, too.

0:01:51 > 0:01:52You'll notice the wind arrows

0:01:52 > 0:01:55coming in from a west or north-westerly direction

0:01:55 > 0:01:56towards northern parts of the country,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58so some cooler conditions for a time

0:01:58 > 0:01:59as we look through Tuesday

0:01:59 > 0:02:01towards the north-west and, again,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03it's western parts of the country that will

0:02:03 > 0:02:05tend to see more cloud and outbreaks of rain,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08whereas eastern areas will stay predominantly dry

0:02:08 > 0:02:09through the day on Tuesday,

0:02:09 > 0:02:12with some sunshine for the likes of Aberdeenshire,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14down towards East Anglia and Kent, too.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Temperatures, by the time we get to Tuesday,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18probably not quite as warm as Monday,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21but still between about 10 to 13 degrees

0:02:21 > 0:02:22for most of us.

0:02:22 > 0:02:23Now, here's the pressure,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25looking into the middle part of the week.

0:02:25 > 0:02:26We've got low pressure

0:02:26 > 0:02:27moving to the north of the UK,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29some quite tight isobars, I think,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30heading into Wednesday,

0:02:30 > 0:02:31as the frontal system moves its way

0:02:31 > 0:02:33west to east across the country,

0:02:33 > 0:02:34so a blustery feel to the weather

0:02:34 > 0:02:36by the time we get to Wednesday.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Some rain towards the west,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40slowly making its way southwards and eastwards,

0:02:40 > 0:02:41but that should peter out, I think,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43later on in the day.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44A return to fresher conditions

0:02:44 > 0:02:45with sunshine and showers -

0:02:45 > 0:02:46still, temperatures up

0:02:46 > 0:02:48at around 13 or 14 degrees.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Heading towards Thursday,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51a slightly colder night, I think,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Wednesday night into Thursday.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54Then we see this next frontal system

0:02:54 > 0:02:56approaching from the Atlantic,

0:02:56 > 0:02:57could be some hill snow

0:02:57 > 0:02:58on the northern edge of that,

0:02:58 > 0:02:59then looking towards the end

0:02:59 > 0:03:01of next week into next weekend,

0:03:01 > 0:03:02it does look like we'll have

0:03:02 > 0:03:03this kind of set-up -

0:03:03 > 0:03:05low-pressure moving into the north-west,

0:03:05 > 0:03:06higher pressure sitting out

0:03:06 > 0:03:08across the near continent, dragging in the air

0:03:08 > 0:03:09from predominately a west

0:03:09 > 0:03:11or south-westerly direction,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13bringing some fairly unsettled weather,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15mainly towards the north-west of the country,

0:03:15 > 0:03:16with wind and rain at times, too,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18perhaps even a little hill snow,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20and after that very mild start to the week,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22things will start to turn a little bit colder

0:03:22 > 0:03:24once again by next weekend.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25That's it for now.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Helen Willetts will update you tomorrow.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28Bye-bye.
