0:00:02 > 0:00:04Well, the winds certainly blew a few cobwebs away

0:00:04 > 0:00:05and a few trees as well.

0:00:05 > 0:00:09Is the weather settling down in the wake of Storm Doris?

0:00:09 > 0:00:12Kind of - not completely.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15There's still a lot of cloud and some wind out there in the Atlantic

0:00:15 > 0:00:18and it is heading our way but the worst of this weather,

0:00:18 > 0:00:22Doris, is out of the picture - goodbye, good riddance -

0:00:22 > 0:00:24remnants of it affecting more central parts

0:00:24 > 0:00:26of Europe. Actually, we're going to see

0:00:26 > 0:00:29a little spell of better weather for Friday.

0:00:29 > 0:00:30This little high pressure here,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32a bump in the pressure, is going

0:00:32 > 0:00:33to knock on our door

0:00:33 > 0:00:34and give us some sunshine,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36but across these north-western areas,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38once again the weather will go downhill

0:00:38 > 0:00:39a little bit through the course of the day.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41We're not expecting any stormy weather here,

0:00:41 > 0:00:42but it will be windy

0:00:42 > 0:00:44a little bit later on in the day,

0:00:44 > 0:00:45especially around these coastal areas

0:00:45 > 0:00:47and we are in for some rain

0:00:47 > 0:00:48for places like Belfast and Glasgow,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50but the vast majority of the country,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51fine for you here.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Some sunshine and certainly quite crisp,

0:00:53 > 0:00:54quite cold in the morning.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56And then as we go through Friday night

0:00:56 > 0:00:58into Saturday, you can see the winds

0:00:58 > 0:01:00start picking up again from the south-west.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02These are mild south-westerlies,

0:01:02 > 0:01:03so these are the early morning

0:01:03 > 0:01:05temperatures on Saturday.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Certainly frost around, 6, 7, 8, 9 degrees

0:01:07 > 0:01:10and a fair bit of cloud and rain.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13And again quite a few isobars here on Saturday.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Isobars equal wind so it is going to be

0:01:15 > 0:01:17a blustery day but I think the main message

0:01:17 > 0:01:20on Saturday is that the winds will be

0:01:20 > 0:01:22strong around the coast and hills.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24There'll be quite extensive cloud

0:01:24 > 0:01:26across many western areas of the UK,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28outbreaks of rain. In fact some of us,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31particularly across the west and the north-west

0:01:31 > 0:01:33are in for a good soaking, I think,

0:01:33 > 0:01:34overall for the whole weekend.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36But I think the further east

0:01:36 > 0:01:37and south-east you are,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40the drier the weather is going to be.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42So this is Saturday night into Sunday,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44one weather front clears away

0:01:44 > 0:01:47and then we have another weather front coming in,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49so you're starting to see this pattern again,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51weather front after weather front.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53This is the next one here,

0:01:53 > 0:01:54bringing outbreaks of rain

0:01:54 > 0:01:55to the north-west again.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56Some soaking weather here

0:01:56 > 0:01:58through the course of Saturday

0:01:58 > 0:02:01but much, much better across eastern

0:02:01 > 0:02:03and southern areas of the UK.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Then Sunday night into Monday, you guessed it,

0:02:06 > 0:02:07one weather front clears away

0:02:07 > 0:02:09and here's another one.

0:02:09 > 0:02:10Again, we got quite a few isobars,

0:02:10 > 0:02:13so it's going to be a little on the breezy side,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15but it is going to be just that, I think,

0:02:15 > 0:02:16just windy round coasts,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18not necessarily inland.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20And temperatures probably cooling off

0:02:20 > 0:02:22a little bit as we head through Monday,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24so a mild weekend but then come Monday,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26the temperatures will dip away.

0:02:26 > 0:02:27We'll stay start to see air

0:02:27 > 0:02:29coming in from the north,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31so I think for Monday and Tuesday

0:02:31 > 0:02:33and possibly into Wednesday,

0:02:33 > 0:02:34it is going to be cold

0:02:34 > 0:02:37and that really is the theme for the week ahead.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40Fairly unsettled, changeable, some rain,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42some sunshine, but temperatures will be

0:02:42 > 0:02:45on the cool side and then we get to the middle part of the week

0:02:45 > 0:02:47to Wednesday 1st March,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49the start of meteorological spring,

0:02:49 > 0:02:53not the spring equinox, that's on 20th March,

0:02:53 > 0:02:57but us meteorologists like whole months. We like to start on the 1st.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00So early March, the jet stream is pretty active,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03it's sort of lassoing around, it's rippling and whenever we see that

0:03:03 > 0:03:07that spells unsettled weather and quite cold weather, I think.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09So at times there'll be some frosts in the morning,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12we might even see a little bit of wintriness across the hills,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14but there'll be some sunshine around as well,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17so I think a chilly start to March, fairly unsettled,

0:03:17 > 0:03:23spells of rain for sure at times and a touch of frost on the way.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25But in the short term, no storms in the forecast,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27at least not for now.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28Thanks for watching.
