0:00:02 > 0:00:04It was just a few days ago that Storm Doris brought
0:00:04 > 0:00:07some near-100mph winds across our shores.
0:00:07 > 0:00:09Now we've got Storm Ewan on the way.
0:00:09 > 0:00:11It's been named by the Irish Met Service,
0:00:11 > 0:00:14because a significant impact expected in Ireland,
0:00:14 > 0:00:16but we'll see really strong winds across our shores
0:00:16 > 0:00:18and some heavy rain, and not just some heavy rain -
0:00:18 > 0:00:20there's wintry weather in the forecast, too.
0:00:20 > 0:00:23Storm Ewan is developing all the while,
0:00:23 > 0:00:25heading our way as we get into Sunday.
0:00:25 > 0:00:27A real squeeze on those isobars,
0:00:27 > 0:00:28around the Irish Sea coast,
0:00:28 > 0:00:30we'll see the winds really picking up.
0:00:30 > 0:00:31Some heavy rain in Northern Ireland,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33pushing into the western side of England,
0:00:33 > 0:00:35Wales, southern Scotland, too.
0:00:35 > 0:00:37Gusts of wind will be 50-60mph,
0:00:37 > 0:00:4070mph with exposure around some coasts.
0:00:40 > 0:00:41So, very wet, very windy
0:00:41 > 0:00:43for the north and the west of the UK.
0:00:43 > 0:00:45Much drier and relatively mild
0:00:45 > 0:00:47down towards the south and east.
0:00:47 > 0:00:48But some wetter, windier weather
0:00:48 > 0:00:50does move through through the evening,
0:00:50 > 0:00:51at least for a time.
0:00:51 > 0:00:52It's still pretty blustery into
0:00:52 > 0:00:54the small hours of Monday morning,
0:00:54 > 0:00:56with a good rash of showers coming through,
0:00:56 > 0:00:58and there will be some wintry weather
0:00:58 > 0:00:59over higher ground.
0:00:59 > 0:01:01It'll be quite cold, northern England -
0:01:01 > 0:01:03northwards, I think we'll see a touch of frost.
0:01:03 > 0:01:04Still a very unsettled look to things
0:01:04 > 0:01:06through the day on Monday.
0:01:06 > 0:01:08Low pressure still firmly in charge.
0:01:08 > 0:01:09Lots of isobars on the charts,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11another blustery day,
0:01:11 > 0:01:12and we will start off quite wet
0:01:12 > 0:01:14across some central and eastern areas,
0:01:14 > 0:01:15and we are going to see a lot of cloud
0:01:15 > 0:01:18through the day on Monday, with a good rash of showers.
0:01:18 > 0:01:19Some spells of sunshine coming through,
0:01:19 > 0:01:21but when those showers come along,
0:01:21 > 0:01:23there will be some thunder and some hail as well.
0:01:23 > 0:01:25Wet weather works its way
0:01:25 > 0:01:26eastwards through the morning,
0:01:26 > 0:01:28then we'll see sunshine and showers developing
0:01:28 > 0:01:30as you get on into the afternoon.
0:01:30 > 0:01:32Some showers will bring wintry weather
0:01:32 > 0:01:33over higher ground.
0:01:33 > 0:01:34There will be some hail, thunder,
0:01:34 > 0:01:35with some of those showers -
0:01:35 > 0:01:37a little sunshine in-between,
0:01:37 > 0:01:38but a colder feel to things.
0:01:38 > 0:01:40We are in single figures
0:01:40 > 0:01:41pretty much across the board.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43Now, Monday night into Tuesday, well,
0:01:43 > 0:01:45the big picture still looks fairly complex,
0:01:45 > 0:01:47and I think it will be.
0:01:47 > 0:01:48With low pressure still in charge,
0:01:48 > 0:01:50it's still quite an unsettled look to things.
0:01:50 > 0:01:51Maybe lighter winds
0:01:51 > 0:01:53for some central and eastern areas,
0:01:53 > 0:01:55but still breezy towards the north and the west,
0:01:55 > 0:01:57and we will see, again, some spells of sunshine,
0:01:57 > 0:01:59but also some showers developing and, again,
0:01:59 > 0:02:00a chilly start to the day
0:02:00 > 0:02:02and I think it'll be quite chilly
0:02:02 > 0:02:03into the afternoon,
0:02:03 > 0:02:05with single figures across the board.
0:02:05 > 0:02:06As we head on towards Wednesday,
0:02:06 > 0:02:07that's, of course, March 1st,
0:02:07 > 0:02:10which makes it the first day of meteorological spring.
0:02:10 > 0:02:12But I don't think we're going to see
0:02:12 > 0:02:13much in the way of springlike weather.
0:02:13 > 0:02:15Winds are coming down from the north
0:02:15 > 0:02:17and it'll be quite a strong wind
0:02:17 > 0:02:19and it will feel quite chilly in that breeze.
0:02:19 > 0:02:20But there will be a fair bit of dry weather,
0:02:20 > 0:02:22just this central swathe is likely to see
0:02:22 > 0:02:24some thicker cloud and some outbreaks of rain,
0:02:24 > 0:02:26mainly through the latter part of the morning
0:02:26 > 0:02:27into the afternoon.
0:02:27 > 0:02:28Drier towards the south and west,
0:02:28 > 0:02:30maybe showers towards the north-east,
0:02:30 > 0:02:32again, most places seeing temperatures
0:02:32 > 0:02:33in single figures.
0:02:33 > 0:02:36Still got low pressure close to us on Thursday.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38This weather front down towards the south-west
0:02:38 > 0:02:40will bring some cloud, some rain, with it
0:02:40 > 0:02:42but I think towards the north-east,
0:02:42 > 0:02:44after a chilly start, it'll be dry and bright
0:02:44 > 0:02:45into the afternoon.
0:02:45 > 0:02:46We should see some sunshine here,
0:02:46 > 0:02:47bit more cloud further south
0:02:47 > 0:02:49and rain tending to fizzle out.
0:02:49 > 0:02:52Then as we look ahead into the early part of March,
0:02:52 > 0:02:54we are on the cold side
0:02:54 > 0:02:55of the jet stream,
0:02:55 > 0:02:57so it'll stay quite chilly by day
0:02:57 > 0:02:59and by night, some frosty mornings
0:02:59 > 0:03:00to come for some.
0:03:00 > 0:03:01This trough in the jet stream
0:03:01 > 0:03:03will allow areas of low pressure
0:03:03 > 0:03:04to develop, and they may well affect
0:03:04 > 0:03:07the western side of the UK with some spells of rain,
0:03:07 > 0:03:09but equally, there is a low chance
0:03:09 > 0:03:11of something a bit more vigorous developing,
0:03:11 > 0:03:13but also, a low chance of something a bit more settled
0:03:13 > 0:03:15creeping down from the north.
0:03:15 > 0:03:17So finely balanced into the early part of March,
0:03:17 > 0:03:19but at the moment, it looks like cyclonic,
0:03:19 > 0:03:20windy conditions will continue
0:03:20 > 0:03:22with some spells of rain moving through,
0:03:22 > 0:03:24so some drier spells as well,
0:03:24 > 0:03:25but we are in that cold air,
0:03:25 > 0:03:27so it will be quite chilly by day
0:03:27 > 0:03:29and particularly through the mornings.
