0:00:02 > 0:00:03Quite a lot going on with the weather

0:00:03 > 0:00:05over the next few days, quite changeable weather.

0:00:05 > 0:00:09I think we'll all see some rain at times through this weekend.

0:00:09 > 0:00:10Take a look at the jet stream,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13which is, of course, the driver of our weather.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15It's coming out of North America,

0:00:15 > 0:00:16it looks pretty powerful.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18As I say, it's the driver of our weather,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20it's got various weather systems hooked up in it.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22That cloud and rain is heading our way,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24so, as I say, it looks quite changeable,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26quite unsettled, as we head onto the weekend.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29We're all going to see some rain at some stage

0:00:29 > 0:00:30in the next 48 hours,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32some of that rain could well be on the heavy side.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34It's not just rain we'll have to contend with -

0:00:34 > 0:00:36there will be some fairly blustery winds as well.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38If you're caught in that mix of wet and windy weather,

0:00:38 > 0:00:39it'll feel quite chilly.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42Not all doom and gloom, though. There is at least

0:00:42 > 0:00:43some sunshine in the forecast.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Any rain on the eastern side of England

0:00:45 > 0:00:47doesn't last too long through Saturday morning,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49but it'll be a pretty miserable day

0:00:49 > 0:00:50for the eastern side of Scotland,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52wet and windy, quite cold as well.

0:00:52 > 0:00:53The rain will clear away

0:00:53 > 0:00:55towards the north of the central Lowlands.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57But Northern Ireland starts off quite wet,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59becomes a little drier into the afternoon,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01with scattered showers, and scattered showers

0:01:01 > 0:01:02affect western England and Wales.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04Central and eastern parts of England doing quite well.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06A bit of cloud, a little sunshine,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08and temperatures in double figures,

0:01:08 > 0:01:09quite widely.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11Through Saturday night into Sunday,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13that rain moves up towards the Northern Isles,

0:01:13 > 0:01:14so eventually, it does dry up

0:01:14 > 0:01:16on the eastern side of Scotland,

0:01:16 > 0:01:17but there are showers elsewhere

0:01:17 > 0:01:20as we get onto the small hours of Sunday.

0:01:20 > 0:01:21Then we see this next weather feature

0:01:21 > 0:01:23set to spread some pretty wet weather

0:01:23 > 0:01:25across much of England and Wales on Sunday.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27So something of a role reversal,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29with the wetter weather on Sunday

0:01:29 > 0:01:30for England and Wales.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Rain, followed by sunshine,

0:01:32 > 0:01:33then some heavy showers.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35For Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:35 > 0:01:36just a scattering of showers,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38so all in all, a slightly better day.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39Sunday night into Monday,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41a few showers on the western side of Scotland,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43maybe into Northern Ireland as well.

0:01:43 > 0:01:44But drying up for England and Wales,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46at least temporarily,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48because the next low already moving in

0:01:48 > 0:01:50towards the south-west by early Monday.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51So, it'll be quite wet and quite windy

0:01:51 > 0:01:53in the south of Wales, south-west of England.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55That rain will push its way

0:01:55 > 0:01:56along southern counties of England,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58with a bit of a breeze as well.

0:01:58 > 0:01:59But actually, elsewhere on Monday,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01not such a bad day - it'll be dry, bright,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03with variable amount of clouds, but again,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05most places are in single figures,

0:02:05 > 0:02:078-9 degrees typical for Monday afternoon.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09Through Monday evening - still a few showers

0:02:09 > 0:02:10in the north-west, but generally,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12as pressure builds, we're going to see

0:02:12 > 0:02:14things quieten down, at least temporarily,

0:02:14 > 0:02:15because out west,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18the next area of wind and rain is gathering.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20But actually, many places will start on a bright note.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22And the further east you are, you'll hang onto

0:02:22 > 0:02:24that dry and bright weather for the longest,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26because it goes downhill in Northern Ireland,

0:02:26 > 0:02:27turning wet and windy,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29and that wetter, windier weather moves its way

0:02:29 > 0:02:31into the western side of the mainland

0:02:31 > 0:02:33through the afternoon - that wet, windy weather

0:02:33 > 0:02:34will spread to all parts

0:02:34 > 0:02:35later on on Tuesday.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Then looking ahead to the middle

0:02:37 > 0:02:39and latter part of next week -

0:02:39 > 0:02:40the jet stream drifts

0:02:40 > 0:02:41a little bit further north,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43and areas of low pressure will be

0:02:43 > 0:02:44running along that to bring

0:02:44 > 0:02:45some wind and some rain

0:02:45 > 0:02:47into the north and west of the UK.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Largely dry further south and east,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51and then into next weekend,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53that jet stream takes quite a dive

0:02:53 > 0:02:54towards the south,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56becomes quite amplified,

0:02:56 > 0:02:57and as that process happens,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59we're likely to see low pressure

0:02:59 > 0:03:00building to the east of the UK,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02with high pressure out towards

0:03:02 > 0:03:03the west and, of course,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05the resultant winds,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07they'll be coming down from the north.

0:03:07 > 0:03:08Of course, that's always a cold direction.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10We are expecting to see temperatures

0:03:10 > 0:03:12dropping away as we head on

0:03:12 > 0:03:13into next weekend,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15as that northerly wind becomes established.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17So, into next weekend, it looks like it will

0:03:17 > 0:03:19be turning that bit colder,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20but it's not all doom and gloom.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21There will be sunny spells,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23the best of those in more southern areas

0:03:23 > 0:03:25but there are going to be some showers,

0:03:25 > 0:03:26and with that northerly breeze,

0:03:26 > 0:03:27if you're exposed to the north,

0:03:27 > 0:03:30then you're more likely to see those showers.
