0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. Time we updated you on our thoughts about what's to come

0:00:05 > 0:00:07in the forthcoming week and then we'll push our luck

0:00:07 > 0:00:10a little bit and give you a sense of what's going to go on through

0:00:10 > 0:00:13the course of next weekend and beyond.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16Don't despair at the start of this week if it's particularly wet

0:00:16 > 0:00:18with you across the south-western quarter of the British Isles

0:00:18 > 0:00:20in the first part of the day.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Once we get on towards lunchtime and early afternoon,

0:00:22 > 0:00:25much of that rain will have faded away and been replaced by

0:00:25 > 0:00:28showers and there will be generally a mix of sunny spells

0:00:28 > 0:00:30and showers quite widely.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Although the rain will return to Northern Ireland just in time

0:00:33 > 0:00:35for the school run and the commute.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39Now, once Monday is out of the way, the rest of the week falls

0:00:39 > 0:00:41into something of a pattern where we have rain at times.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44It'll be breezy and with that wind coming from the west and

0:00:44 > 0:00:48the south-west for the most part, it will be on the mild side.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51We establish that pattern as early as Tuesday.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54It may not seem that way first up because the skies may have cleared

0:00:54 > 0:00:57overnight and it will be a chilly start to the new day on Tuesday.

0:00:57 > 0:01:00A lot of dry, bright, fine weather around.

0:01:00 > 0:01:02But those weather fronts from the Atlantic make their presence

0:01:02 > 0:01:05felt across western parts initially.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08The further east you are, the drier your day will be.

0:01:08 > 0:01:09But eventually,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12that weather front will come to tumble its way ever further

0:01:12 > 0:01:16towards the east and south bringing some pretty wet spells of weather.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Whilst you're sandwiched between the warm front and the cold front,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22really murky affair with the cloud sitting very low in the atmosphere.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Come Wednesday,

0:01:24 > 0:01:26low pressure close by to Scotland will keep it very blustery

0:01:26 > 0:01:29and breezy throughout the day across Scotland, Northern Ireland,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31the north of England. Plenty of showers here.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34Somewhat drier across the Midlands and the north of Wales.

0:01:34 > 0:01:38That weather front doesn't actually, we think, get right away from

0:01:38 > 0:01:41the southern counties of both England and Wales during the day.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43It's mild at 13 or 14,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45but I don't think you'll want to stand around in it.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Then just when you thought you'd seen the last of it,

0:01:47 > 0:01:53it returns as a warm front bringing mild airs from the Atlantic,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55but the cloud sitting, again, very low in the atmosphere.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58A lot of hill fog, damp moving up from the south-west

0:01:58 > 0:02:01to Wales and on towards Northern Ireland through the day.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04The best of any brightness to the east of the Pennines and up

0:02:04 > 0:02:06in that north-eastern corner of Scotland.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08Again, because the wind is coming from the south-west,

0:02:08 > 0:02:12top temperature on the day could be around 14, possibly even 15 degrees.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15From Thursday into Friday, we still have that run of mild,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17south-westerlies.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Detail at this stage is difficult to pin down,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23but we think that the low pressure will still be pretty dominant

0:02:23 > 0:02:26and one of the scenarios for the weekend is to keep the low

0:02:26 > 0:02:29pressure, or something very like it, very close by to

0:02:29 > 0:02:32the north-western quarter of the British Isles.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34You can well imagine having seen

0:02:34 > 0:02:35the week thus far, if you are

0:02:35 > 0:02:37anywhere close by that low pressure,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39then it is going to be unsettled.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43There'll be spells of rain. The wind will be quite noticeable at times.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45Further south, there isn't a vacuum, we'll just build in

0:02:45 > 0:02:48relatively higher pressure there trying to settle things down

0:02:48 > 0:02:51across the southern parts of the British Isles.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54So the wet and windy fare towards the north-west.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Further south, it could be somewhat drier, brighter,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59perhaps a tad warmer as well.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01That's one of the scenarios.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05The other scenario that we have on our minds at the moment, is to

0:03:05 > 0:03:08bring a low pressure across the northern parts of the British Isles,

0:03:08 > 0:03:12park it over Denmark, build a high pressure out towards the west.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15That then funnels northerlies and north-easterlies down

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and across the British Isles so that could push some showers into

0:03:18 > 0:03:19the north of Scotland.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21Whatever scenario, we'll keep it fairly wet there.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25Breezy at times too, but I think the average temperature will

0:03:25 > 0:03:28prevail for most of us for a good part of the week.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Bye-bye.
