0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. We had some glorious spring sunshine around on Thursday,

0:00:04 > 0:00:07temperatures as high as 17.5 degrees in London.

0:00:07 > 0:00:11Things aren't changing in a hurry, at least over the next 24 hours,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13because we've still got a big area of high pressure in charge

0:00:13 > 0:00:15sitting out towards the south-east.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18Low pressure in the North Atlantic trying to move in,

0:00:18 > 0:00:20so we will see weather fronts starting to influence

0:00:20 > 0:00:22parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland,

0:00:22 > 0:00:24bringing an increasing breeze,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27some cloud, and later on, some outbreaks of rain, too.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29But many eastern areas will keep with the sunny conditions

0:00:29 > 0:00:31through much of the day.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34The cloud in the west on Friday moves its way slowly eastwards

0:00:34 > 0:00:35and there'll be a bit of drizzly rain

0:00:35 > 0:00:38across parts of north-west England, Western Scotland,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40perhaps Northern Ireland, particularly around the coasts,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42and over the hills too.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Elsewhere, that cloud should break up a little bit through the day.

0:00:44 > 0:00:48Temperatures certainly not as warm as Thursday - 7 to 13 degrees.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Through Friday night and on into Saturday

0:00:50 > 0:00:53we'll see this cold font moving in from the north-west,

0:00:53 > 0:00:56so some rain around Northern Ireland and for Scotland overnight.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58England and Wales staying largely dry.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Quite a lot of low cloud, mist and murk,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03and certainly mild first thing Saturday morning.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06So what about the weekend? Well, for Saturday, actually,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09not a bad day at all. Most places are looking largely dry,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and there will be a bit of sunshine breaking through for many of us.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Sunday, bit of a change - we'll start to see rain clearing eastwards

0:01:15 > 0:01:18and things will feel a little bit cooler too.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20So to put some detail on that, this is Saturday.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23We've got a slow-moving front bringing a bit of rain

0:01:23 > 0:01:25to parts of northern England, into Wales too.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27To the south and east of that, mostly cloudy,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29but there will be some sunshine later on.

0:01:29 > 0:01:3315, possibly 17 degrees. Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:01:33 > 0:01:36also seeing quite a good deal of dry, bright weather on Saturday.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38Heading into Sunday, then, this front...

0:01:38 > 0:01:41This frontal system approaches from the Atlantic,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43and eventually that's going to introduce some cooler air

0:01:43 > 0:01:46heading in from the west too. So through the day on Sunday,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48we're likely to see some outbreaks of rain,

0:01:48 > 0:01:51gradually clearing eastwards through the day.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53A return to sunshine and a few blustery showers.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Not a write-off, there will be some dry weather around,

0:01:56 > 0:02:00but it will feel cooler, with temperatures around 9 to 13 degrees.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03On to Monday - once that front clears away toward the east,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06could stay cloudy across East Anglia and the south-east for a time,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08but a ridge of high pressure in charge,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10so most places looking dry,

0:02:10 > 0:02:11and there'll be some decent spells of sunshine.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13With light winds, it'll feel pleasant,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16with most of us seeing temperatures of around 11 to 13 degrees.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19So that situation doesn't change too much.

0:02:19 > 0:02:20On to the middle part of the week.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22High pressure never really far away -

0:02:22 > 0:02:25again, we will see these low pressure systems

0:02:25 > 0:02:27trying to move in from the Atlantic

0:02:27 > 0:02:29but bumping into that area of high pressure.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31So that is the main theme, really,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34as we head through much of the week ahead. To start next week,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37we've got high pressure in charge, and that's really

0:02:37 > 0:02:40closing this barrier to the Atlantic low-pressure systems,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42bringing their cloud and rain towards maybe northern

0:02:42 > 0:02:44and western parts of the UK.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Through the middle of the week, the barrier dips down towards the south

0:02:47 > 0:02:50as high pressure clears towards the south. That will allow

0:02:50 > 0:02:53low pressure to move across more northerly parts of the UK,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56but later in the week, the high pressure builds in again,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59closing that barrier and keeping most of the low-pressure systems,

0:02:59 > 0:03:02with their cloud and rain, again out in the Atlantic.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Some uncertainty - we could see

0:03:04 > 0:03:05wet weather systems moving across

0:03:05 > 0:03:08northern and north-western parts of the country.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11But generally as we head towards the end of next week,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13with that high pressure building again,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16things will become drier, there'll be some sunshine on offer,

0:03:16 > 0:03:20but things could be windy, and at times also quite wet and unsettled

0:03:20 > 0:03:22across north-western parts of the UK.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Best of the dry and bright weather towards the south and east.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27That's it for now - I'll update you again tomorrow.
