0:00:02 > 0:00:03Hello. It's that time of year

0:00:03 > 0:00:05when the days are getting noticeably longer.

0:00:05 > 0:00:06The sunshine is getting stronger too.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09In fact, the sunshine at this stage in the middle of March

0:00:09 > 0:00:11is as strong as it is in September

0:00:11 > 0:00:13and where we have seen the sunshine, for instance on Thursday,

0:00:13 > 0:00:18we saw temperatures in fact 17.5 degrees around the London region,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21but where we get more in the way of cloud,

0:00:21 > 0:00:23temperatures stuck back at about 13 degrees.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25That was the top temperature in London on Friday.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28That variation in temperatures is going to continue through

0:00:28 > 0:00:30much of the week ahead, so where we see the sunshine

0:00:30 > 0:00:32could well be up to the high teens at times.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Where the cloud sticks around,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36typically around four or five degrees cooler.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38During Saturday, high pressure not far away.

0:00:38 > 0:00:39We have got a front draped across

0:00:39 > 0:00:41some northern parts of the country,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43so it's not going to be dry for all of us.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45It's a fairly weak cold front here.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48It will bring some outbreaks of rain and cloudy conditions

0:00:48 > 0:00:49across parts of Scotland,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51then pushing further south into the Borders.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Across northern England, a few splashes of rain,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55but across much of England and Wales,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57a dry day to come on Saturday,

0:00:57 > 0:00:58plenty of sunshine in the south

0:00:58 > 0:01:00and it's here we'll see the highest temperatures,

0:01:00 > 0:01:0316, possibly 17 or 18 degrees,

0:01:03 > 0:01:04and also some dry, bright weather

0:01:04 > 0:01:06returning to Northern Ireland

0:01:06 > 0:01:09and Scotland, where we could see temperatures 12 or 13 Celsius.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Moving through Saturday evening and on into Sunday, though,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14this weather front starts to pep up a bit,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17so that rain becomes heavier, we'll see another front moving in

0:01:17 > 0:01:19from the west too, so one way or another,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21many of us are going to start Sunday with cloud,

0:01:21 > 0:01:23outbreaks of rain and it will be pretty mild

0:01:23 > 0:01:26under that blanket of cloud.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Through the day on Sunday, a different feel compared to Saturday.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31That wet weather clearing eastwards through the day,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34but it will linger for East Anglia and the south-east.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37A fresher feel, 10-12 degrees and a return to some sunnier,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39brighter conditions from the west later on.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42That's how Sunday is shaping up. What about the new working week?

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Well, high pressure sits out to the south-west of the UK.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47That's going to build in and dominate our weather

0:01:47 > 0:01:49really through much of the week ahead,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52so Monday looks like a dry day pretty much across the board.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Variable amounts of cloud and again where we do see the sunshine,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57that's where we'll see temperatures to the mid-teens,

0:01:57 > 0:01:5914, could see 15 or 16 degrees.

0:01:59 > 0:02:03Slightly cooler around the spots where that cloud lingers,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05but most places looking dry with light winds.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08By Tuesday, a bit of rain and a fairly brisk wind at times

0:02:08 > 0:02:11across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland too.

0:02:11 > 0:02:12Elsewhere will avoid the rain,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15so another predominantly dry day and again those temperatures

0:02:15 > 0:02:18generally up to the mid-teens, so a fairly mild theme to the weather.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20That's how the middle of the week is shaping up.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22We've got high pressure not far away.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25We will see areas of low pressure in the North Atlantic situated

0:02:25 > 0:02:29round about the Iceland region, trying to exert their influence

0:02:29 > 0:02:32on the UK, so early part of next week this is now.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34We've got that high sitting out to the south-west

0:02:34 > 0:02:37and we're going to be drawing in these south-westerly winds,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39so that's quite a milder direction

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and temperatures will be doing reasonably well.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42Later on next week,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44we'll start to see the influence of low pressure

0:02:44 > 0:02:46sitting out round about Iceland,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49but it will draw in a more westerly air flow,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52so that means temperatures through the latter part of the working week

0:02:52 > 0:02:53I think tending to dip down again,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55but then once again into next weekend,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57it looks like the high re-establishes itself

0:02:57 > 0:03:00and again we'll see a return to these more south-westerly winds.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Temperatures should be on the rise

0:03:02 > 0:03:06as we head through the latter part of next week into next weekend.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09A bit of a change on the cards, but as we move through to next weekend,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12generally, the mild theme to the weather will continue

0:03:12 > 0:03:15and it'll be predominantly dry with high pressure the main influence.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17There'll be some sunshine around,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20but there could be some slightly windier and wetter conditions

0:03:20 > 0:03:23on the cards at times, particularly towards the north-west,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25with the driest and brightest weather generally in the south-east.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28That's it, we'll update you again tomorrow.
