0:00:02 > 0:00:05It's time to have a look at the weather over the next few days.

0:00:05 > 0:00:06So we'll start with the short term,

0:00:06 > 0:00:09and the weekend so far actually hasn't been too bad.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12It's not exactly been clear blue skies everywhere but we

0:00:12 > 0:00:16managed to get temperatures up to 18 degrees in the south-east.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20And Northern Ireland, actually, had its warmest day of the year so far.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Slightly different story come Sunday -

0:00:22 > 0:00:24weather fronts are crossing the UK.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27That's going to introduce yet more cloud across the country

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and there will be some rain too.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31And for some of us, actually, a bit of a wet morning on the way,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34particularly the south-east, into the London area,

0:00:34 > 0:00:35East Anglia, Lincolnshire.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37But then look at that - there's a break in the cloud,

0:00:37 > 0:00:40so you'll probably get some sunshine at lunchtime through here.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43Then we get another line of cloud and some spots of rain,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45and then behind that we've got more sunshine again.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48So it's a bit like a zebra, really - you've got rain,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50some sunshine, some rain and then sunshine again.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53So I think the best way to summarise Sunday is it's going to be

0:00:53 > 0:00:55a bit of a changeable picture.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58But this is a cold front that's moving slowly across the UK

0:00:58 > 0:01:01during the course of Sunday evening into Monday.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04The skies temporarily clear and there is a chance of a little bit

0:01:04 > 0:01:06of frost, I think, around on Monday morning.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08These are the city temperatures.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11In rural spots, as always, it's going to be a little bit colder.

0:01:11 > 0:01:13So maybe a nippy start first thing on Monday.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16Now, big high pressure across this portion of the Atlantic here.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19It is going to be influencing our weather just about,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22maybe the far north of Scotland here in the north-west

0:01:22 > 0:01:25being clipped by a little bit more cloud, maybe windier weather,

0:01:25 > 0:01:28but generally speaking Monday is actually

0:01:28 > 0:01:30mostly a dry day for the UK.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Sunshine for London, for Birmingham,

0:01:32 > 0:01:34Hull, Newcastle not doing bad at all.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37But as I said, the Western Isles, there, a little bit more cloud.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39I'm going to change gear a little bit now and talk about

0:01:39 > 0:01:41what's going on the other side of the planet across the US.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Now, this is very cold air coming out of Canada.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46This is warmer air from the tropics. See these little swirls here?

0:01:46 > 0:01:49These are storms that have been developing just off

0:01:49 > 0:01:51the north-east of the United States.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54We've got a really nasty one heading to the north-east

0:01:54 > 0:01:57of New York State, New England come Tuesday.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Even some snow to come for New York.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01And already there's one out there right now,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04and by this stage, by Tuesday, it's out in the north Atlantic.

0:02:04 > 0:02:08So we've got a series of storms brewing off the eastern seaboard

0:02:08 > 0:02:12of the US and they are to an extent affecting our weather as well.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15Initially it looks as though they're going to shunt some milder air

0:02:15 > 0:02:17in our direction. So, this is Tuesday.

0:02:17 > 0:02:19You can see the teens across most of the UK.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Here is that low on Wednesday.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24So the snowy one I mentioned across New York...

0:02:24 > 0:02:26Let me just get out of the way. Here it is here.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28That's one that would have formed earlier.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Most of them are tracking to the north,

0:02:30 > 0:02:31way to the north of our neighbourhood.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Just about clipping, I think, the Western Isles here,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37so some spots of rain. But to the south of them,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40we've got those milder south-westerlies and some sunshine.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42So this is where the good weather is.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Now, there is an indication that as we head towards the second half

0:02:45 > 0:02:49of the week, some of these lows will be making their journey

0:02:49 > 0:02:52across the Atlantic and may be affecting us as well to an extent.

0:02:52 > 0:02:53What does that mean?

0:02:53 > 0:02:56The winds will probably increase and we'll see

0:02:56 > 0:02:58slightly cooler air heading our way.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01So, a succession of lows lining up there in the Atlantic,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and then by the end of the week, behind them,

0:03:03 > 0:03:06what follows them will be slightly fresher air, colder air in fact,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09and then we'll see the high-pressure that's dominating our weather

0:03:09 > 0:03:12right now slipping away towards the south.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14So I think further ahead,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17staying unsettled in the north of the country,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20dryer in the south and then we've got that cooler weather

0:03:20 > 0:03:22coming in behind those weather systems.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25So this is more of a summary of what's heading our way

0:03:25 > 0:03:27in the next few days. Thanks for watching.
