0:00:00 > 0:00:03Hello there. Well, much of March has been fairly mild,

0:00:03 > 0:00:05particularly across the southern half of the UK,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08with temperatures a little above the seasonal average.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11This weekend promises to be the last of the mild weather

0:00:11 > 0:00:14for the foreseeable future, as things are set to turn colder

0:00:14 > 0:00:16into next week. Now, for the weekend,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19the Jet Stream has been running literally right across

0:00:19 > 0:00:22the Atlantic in a west to east orientation,

0:00:22 > 0:00:26bringing in cloud and weather fronts into our shores.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28And it was pretty wet for many areas on Saturday.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31For Sunday, we will see another band of rain affecting

0:00:31 > 0:00:34the north-west corner of the UK, sinking slowly southwards and

0:00:34 > 0:00:37eastwards into Northern England, Northern and Western Wales, with

0:00:37 > 0:00:40conditions turning a bit brighter but showery and cooler behind it.

0:00:40 > 0:00:43Ahead of it, though, we still have that mild air,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45a lot of cloud, but given any brightness, it will feel very

0:00:45 > 0:00:49mild with temperatures again reaching 15, maybe 16 Celsius.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52Into Sunday night, that weather front sinks southwards,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55taking some rain in towards southern and south-eastern areas

0:00:55 > 0:00:58before more rain peps up across the south and the west

0:00:58 > 0:01:00as we start Monday morning.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03It will still be fairly mild to start the day for Monday

0:01:03 > 0:01:05morning in the south, but cooler in the north.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08That's the trend, really, for the next few days.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11The blue colours will be invading, pushing out the orange colours.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15It will feel noticeably cooler and will be showery as well,

0:01:15 > 0:01:17and temperatures will be pretty low at night where we get

0:01:17 > 0:01:20clear skies, with even a touch of frost returning.

0:01:20 > 0:01:23Now, for Monday, this area of low pressure will bring some

0:01:23 > 0:01:25fairly strong winds to the UK, certainly across Scotland.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Quite an active weather front,

0:01:27 > 0:01:31it will bring some heavy rain to England and Wales for a time

0:01:31 > 0:01:34through Monday, eventually clearing off in towards the North Sea.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Some brightness developing across Scotland and Northern Ireland

0:01:37 > 0:01:40into the afternoon, but it will feel noticeably cooler here,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43with some of the showers falling wintry over the higher ground.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47We could make 11 to 14 Celsius across the south-east,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49but the cooler air will move into all areas as we head through

0:01:49 > 0:01:52the course of Monday into Tuesday.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54So, we open the floodgates to the north-west,

0:01:54 > 0:01:58this will bring a showery regime, with clear skies at night,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00like I mentioned, we could see a return to frost in central

0:02:00 > 0:02:02and northern areas in particular.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04For Tuesday, a chilly start, still fairly breezy,

0:02:04 > 0:02:06but there will be a lot of dry weather,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09bright with some sunshine through central and eastern parts,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11but temperatures really will feel lower than they have done

0:02:11 > 0:02:15of late, five to maybe ten or 11 Celsius in the south-east.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Now, low pressure is never too far away as we head in

0:02:18 > 0:02:20towards Wednesday, pushing towards the south,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22so it looks like southern parts of Britain will see

0:02:22 > 0:02:25most of the cloud with outbreaks of rain,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27as an area of high pressure begins to topple in

0:02:27 > 0:02:28towards the north-west.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31So here, remaining cool in north-north-east winds.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33To the south, something a bit cloudier,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35a little bit wetter, and pulling in just

0:02:35 > 0:02:38a little bit of milder air again into the south-east.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41On Thursday, low pressure still with us across the south,

0:02:41 > 0:02:45this area of high pressure continues to topple in across the north.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48So, much of the northern half of the UK on Thursday will be fine.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Chilly once again, with a little bit of frost to start in places,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54but central and southern areas tending to see more cloud

0:02:54 > 0:02:58with outbreaks of rain, thanks to that area of low pressure nearby.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02So, into the latter part of next week,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04that area of high pressure which I showed you

0:03:04 > 0:03:07toppling over actually dominates the UK potentially

0:03:07 > 0:03:09for much of the end of the week.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11So, what does that mean?

0:03:11 > 0:03:13It's going to bring lot of fine, settled weather, we will lose

0:03:13 > 0:03:16the rain across the south, so it should be drier for most.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19The winds will remain light, thanks to that high pressure.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23It will feel very pleasant by day in the strong late March sunshine,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25but by night, given some clear skies,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29we will see a return to some frost, so, gardeners beware!
