0:00:00 > 0:00:02Hello, there.

0:00:02 > 0:00:05Most of March so far has been pretty mild with fairly mild nights.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07Not many places have seen frost in the past few weeks,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09but that's all set to change.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12In fact, the early spring flowers are in for a bit of

0:00:12 > 0:00:15a shock as we're going to see much colder air moving in across

0:00:15 > 0:00:18the country, to bring some wintry showers to many

0:00:18 > 0:00:20and also overnight frosts.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23That cold air will be pushing in from the north-west right

0:00:23 > 0:00:27across the UK and will also bring with it plenty of showers,

0:00:27 > 0:00:30but there will be some sunshine in between those showers.

0:00:30 > 0:00:31For Monday, it looks like it will be

0:00:31 > 0:00:33quite a wet affair across England and Wales,

0:00:33 > 0:00:35with a weather front slowly pushing eastwards,

0:00:35 > 0:00:38the rain becoming confined towards the south-eastern quadrant.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Behind it, though, much cooler, fresher air, but bright with some

0:00:41 > 0:00:44sunshine, showers turning increasingly wintry across

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Scotland and Northern Ireland, mainly over the high ground.

0:00:46 > 0:00:49Temperatures here will be in single figures,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51the last of the double digits across the south-east.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55That rain clears away and a cold air plunges in its place

0:00:55 > 0:00:56during the course of Monday night.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Plenty of showers moving into the north and the west.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02These will be wintry over the hills, even down to lower levels.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05We could even see some problems with ice first thing on Tuesday

0:01:05 > 0:01:07and it will be a cold night across the board.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10Now into Tuesday, low pressure always nearby,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13fairly tightly packed isobars so it's going to be a blustery day,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16lots of showers piling into northern and western areas,

0:01:16 > 0:01:20but we do start off on a cold and a widespread frost across

0:01:20 > 0:01:23the country, but bright with some sunshine for many central,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25southern and eastern areas. Showers from the word go

0:01:25 > 0:01:28across the north-west corner with an early ice risk.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31Those showers also pushing towards Wales and the West Country

0:01:31 > 0:01:34could even see some snow over the higher ground of Wales and

0:01:34 > 0:01:36the moors and the tors of the south-west,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39even down to lower levels across Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:39 > 0:01:40where it will feel really cold,

0:01:40 > 0:01:44but widespread temperatures in single figures.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47On into Wednesday, low pressure is still with us for much of

0:01:47 > 0:01:49central and southern parts of the UK,

0:01:49 > 0:01:52so we'll see quite a lot of cloud at times, fairly strong winds, too.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Looks like it will be fairly damp across many central and

0:01:55 > 0:01:58southern parts of Britain, with some more persistent rain here,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01but a cold start again for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:01 > 0:02:02A little bit of frost around,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05but some sunshine through the day and, again, a cold feel to

0:02:05 > 0:02:09things, particularly when you add on a fairly strong north-easterly wind.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13Low pressure is still with us as we head towards Thursday,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15bringing a lot of cloud to England and Wales,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18perhaps a little bit further north as well. Like I mentioned,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21that north-easterly wind will make it feel quite raw in the north,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23where it will start off on a cold note once again.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Some of this rain will have some snow over the high ground of

0:02:27 > 0:02:29England and Wales.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32On into Friday, this area of low pressure begins to ebb

0:02:32 > 0:02:34a little bit further southwards and allows high pressure to

0:02:34 > 0:02:38topple in across the north and begin to build in for many central

0:02:38 > 0:02:41and northern areas. It looks like for Friday, a north-south split,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44northern areas, a cold, frosty start, maybe a severe frost

0:02:44 > 0:02:46in places, but dry with some brightness, staying damp

0:02:46 > 0:02:49through central and southern areas with some rain and maybe

0:02:49 > 0:02:53signs of temperatures just wanting to rise just that little bit.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56Now, the scenario into next week and, in fact, beyond,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58potentially into the start of April,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00is for high-pressure to dominate much of the country.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03Low pressure to the south with a zone of

0:03:03 > 0:03:05maybe cloudier, damp weather across southern areas,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08so this will be the set-up, with many northern areas starting off

0:03:08 > 0:03:11cold, frosty with light winds and some sunshine.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14Towards the south, though, cloudier skies with outbreaks of rain,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16so for the north, largely dry thanks to that high-pressure.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17The nights, though,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20will be chilly with a continuation of overnight frost.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23In the south, generally cloudy with some rain and always more of

0:03:23 > 0:03:26a breeze in the south, which will be coming in from the east,

0:03:26 > 0:03:28so winter is set to bite back.
