0:00:01 > 0:00:04Hello. There is some more spring sunshine on the way by the weekend

0:00:04 > 0:00:09and into next week. But on Tuesday, we seem to jump back into winter.

0:00:09 > 0:00:13Some cold wintry looking skies across the UK,

0:00:13 > 0:00:17particularly across northern areas. Some snow on the ground as well.

0:00:17 > 0:00:21It was an icy picture here in West Lothian.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23We are firmly into the cold air right now,

0:00:23 > 0:00:26that's why we have the mixture of sunshine and wintry showers.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29There is thickening cloud coming in from the south-west to bring

0:00:29 > 0:00:32heavy rain to Wales and the south-west, snow over the hills.

0:00:32 > 0:00:36That will push northwards to give snow across the far north of

0:00:36 > 0:00:39England, possibly into the Southern Uplands.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42It's mostly a band of rain that we have got during the day,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44pivoting slowly northwards and eastwards,

0:00:44 > 0:00:47so if you're stuck under that it will feel cold and miserable.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Eventually getting sunshine in southern parts of England and

0:00:50 > 0:00:51Wales, a few heavy showers.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54For much of Scotland it should be dry with sunshine after

0:00:54 > 0:00:56a frosty and icy start.

0:00:56 > 0:01:00That band of rain narrows as it heads northwards across northern

0:01:00 > 0:01:03England, getting close to southern Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06A little snow over the hills but it is mostly rain.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09We will find plenty showers coming into southern counties as well,

0:01:09 > 0:01:11keeping temperatures up here.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14Another clear, cold night across the northern half of Scotland,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17frosty and icy conditions.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20To the south we have got this band of wet weather across

0:01:20 > 0:01:22northern and eastern parts of England.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25That rain will get blown westwards on a cold,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27strong wind off the North Sea.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30The rain will tend to peter out so we'll get a bit more sunshine

0:01:30 > 0:01:33but it will feel cold in the wind across England and Wales.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37Not as windy, and more sunshine, for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Here we are under an area of high pressure and it is this high

0:01:41 > 0:01:45pressure that will settle things down as we head into the weekend.

0:01:45 > 0:01:49Still on Friday the pressure is low enough in the south to give

0:01:49 > 0:01:52us the threat of showers or longer spells of rain running

0:01:52 > 0:01:54through the English Channel on a stronger wind and possibly

0:01:54 > 0:01:57affecting southern parts of England, too.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59Away from here, apart from a weak weather front towards the

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Northern Isles of Scotland, the northern half of the UK

0:02:02 > 0:02:05should see more sunshine and temperatures a bit higher by day.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08So the high pressure is building down from the north very

0:02:08 > 0:02:10slowly on Saturday.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14Still a few isobars on the chart across more southern parts

0:02:14 > 0:02:17of England and Wales so a colder wind likely to be blowing here.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21Otherwise the winds will be light after another cold and frosty start.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23We're going to find temperatures higher by day,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26getting up to a pleasant 13 or 14 degrees.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28Once that high pressure builds in,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31it's set to stay right the way through the weekend.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Again, some stronger winds across more southern parts of

0:02:34 > 0:02:37England and Wales, taking the edge off the sunshine perhaps.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40But otherwise, very little if any cloud around at all.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44Another cold start but again pleasant enough in the sunshine.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47So the high pressure builds over the weekend but how long is it

0:02:47 > 0:02:50going to stick around? Probably well into next week.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53With the high pressure positioned as it is,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55we'll find those colder winds.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Temperatures seven, eight, nine degrees in the south.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00But we will probably cut off those stronger, colder winds as the

0:03:00 > 0:03:04high centre slowly migrates into continental Europe.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Not really seeing much milder air coming in off the Atlantic

0:03:07 > 0:03:11so essentially, with the high pressure, it's going to be dry.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Nights are going to be clear and cold,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15potentially frosty still into next week.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19But it warms up quickly in the sunshine by day and there will be

0:03:19 > 0:03:21lots of sunshine, a big temperature rise as well,

0:03:21 > 0:03:25possibly up to 17 degrees or so in the afternoon.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28So things really settling down after this cold,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30wintry weather to begin with.

0:03:32 > 0:03:33Animals - must we really stop eating them now

0:03:33 > 0:03:35or can I have one last burger?

0:03:35 > 0:03:37What's happened to our country?

0:03:37 > 0:03:39Who's taken the chicken nuggets?

0:03:40 > 0:03:41Did you kill her?

0:03:41 > 0:03:42I'm really hungry.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47Why would anyone eat a baby? It's a little baby.
