0:00:02 > 0:00:05We've got some promising weather on the way this weekend -

0:00:05 > 0:00:07some sunshine, feeling quite warm as well,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10and it looks like it's going to carry on into next week as well

0:00:10 > 0:00:12so here's the summary for the weekend.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15It's blue skies but not blue skies for everybody -

0:00:15 > 0:00:17there will be a bit of cloud around too.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19Now, in the last 24 hours or so,

0:00:19 > 0:00:21we've had a fair bit of cloud and rain.

0:00:21 > 0:00:23During the course of Thursday,

0:00:23 > 0:00:25the cloud has been shifting away to the south.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27I'm going to show you the jet stream now.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Now, look what happens through the course of Thursday -

0:00:30 > 0:00:32the jet stream comes in from the north

0:00:32 > 0:00:34and then it sort of tilts,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36comes in from the north-east

0:00:36 > 0:00:38and sheers away all of this mess,

0:00:38 > 0:00:39this cloud that has been across

0:00:39 > 0:00:41some southern and south-western areas

0:00:41 > 0:00:42so we've got to get rid of this low

0:00:42 > 0:00:44for that clearer weather to develop.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46And actually, here, we've also got

0:00:46 > 0:00:49a sort of elongated area of high pressure

0:00:49 > 0:00:51that stretches all the way from the Azores.

0:00:51 > 0:00:52What does all of that mean?

0:00:52 > 0:00:55Well, it means that the weather is settling down.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57We've had a low pressure close to us,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00it's out of the way in the next 24 hours,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02and that will give way

0:01:02 > 0:01:05to a window of opportunity, a window of fine weather,

0:01:05 > 0:01:07so some sunshine certainly

0:01:07 > 0:01:09on the way for Friday afternoon.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11Now, the last dregs of that low pressure

0:01:11 > 0:01:14may be just about across the south-west of the country

0:01:14 > 0:01:16in the form of a bit of cloud but really,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18the vast majority of the UK,

0:01:18 > 0:01:20Friday afternoon, enjoying that sun.

0:01:20 > 0:01:21Now, the best of the weather

0:01:21 > 0:01:24will be across central and western areas of the country

0:01:24 > 0:01:26because closer to that North Sea coast,

0:01:26 > 0:01:28with a breeze off the North Sea,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30it is going to feel chilly in one or two areas,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33particularly around say Lincolnshire

0:01:33 > 0:01:34into East Anglia as well.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36That north-easterly wind there,

0:01:36 > 0:01:38that'll feel quite chilly in Norwich.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39But where you're in the centre of the high,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41where the light winds will be,

0:01:41 > 0:01:43we'll have clear weather and quite chilly weather as well

0:01:43 > 0:01:45so a touch of frost, I think,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47on the way on maybe Saturday morning.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Now, that high anchors itself across the UK.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51We were talking about it yesterday, no changes,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53even a couple of highs there - two for the price of one.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55A couple of lows further south as well.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Now, remember that the winds

0:01:57 > 0:01:59blow around the high pressure

0:01:59 > 0:02:00in a clockwise fashion

0:02:00 > 0:02:02so in the centre, it's calm,

0:02:02 > 0:02:03it's windless and sunny

0:02:03 > 0:02:05but around these coastal areas,

0:02:05 > 0:02:07it's always going to feel a little bit more colder

0:02:07 > 0:02:09because of the sea

0:02:09 > 0:02:11that's around the country right now.

0:02:11 > 0:02:12Now, that was the weekend.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Here's Monday - look what happens.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16If we pan out a little bit more,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18there is a change from yesterday's forecast.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19Rather than a high,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21we've got a big area of low pressure here

0:02:21 > 0:02:23with the winds blowing round like so.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Now, that heralds a change in the weather.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27On the Monday, that low

0:02:27 > 0:02:29is still way out there in the Atlantic,

0:02:29 > 0:02:30it's still quite far away,

0:02:30 > 0:02:31too far away to influence us

0:02:31 > 0:02:35but the thinking is that as we head into Tuesday,

0:02:35 > 0:02:39the clouds will start building but despite that,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41we could still see temperatures

0:02:41 > 0:02:42of up to 17 degrees Celsius.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45So the start of the week will start to change

0:02:45 > 0:02:47but it will be relatively warm anyway.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Midweek onwards,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51that low that I've just shown you will kind of edge

0:02:51 > 0:02:53a little bit closer to our neighbourhood

0:02:53 > 0:02:56so that means that across some of these western areas,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58under the influence of this low pressure,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01we are going to see increasing amounts of cloud

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and also the possibility of

0:03:03 > 0:03:04a little bit of light rain

0:03:04 > 0:03:07flirting with western areas of the UK.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09Eastern parts of the country

0:03:09 > 0:03:10on the other hand

0:03:10 > 0:03:12still in for some dry weather

0:03:12 > 0:03:14and at least some sunshine.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Now, that was a lot to take in so let's summarise all of that -

0:03:16 > 0:03:18the weekend's looking settled,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20it's looking settled early next week as well

0:03:20 > 0:03:22but then Wednesday onwards,

0:03:22 > 0:03:24a low pressure comes close to the UK

0:03:24 > 0:03:28and things are going to go downhill just a little bit.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29Thanks for watching.
