0:00:00 > 0:00:02Hello. As British summertime arrives,

0:00:02 > 0:00:04the weather's apparently already got there first.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Some parts of the UK, it felt like summertime on Saturday,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10no more so than across parts of eastern Scotland.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12This beautiful shot in Aboyne,

0:00:12 > 0:00:16where the temperature reached the dizzy heights of 19 degrees.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Why the fine weather? We've got a huge block in the atmosphere.

0:00:19 > 0:00:23It's like a boulder in the stream with the jet stream being diverted

0:00:23 > 0:00:26away from the UK and beneath that block

0:00:26 > 0:00:28we've got a large area of high pressure.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30That's keeping these rain-bearing

0:00:30 > 0:00:32weather fronts well at bay.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34So the fine weather continues through Sunday,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36with plenty more lovely sunshine.

0:00:36 > 0:00:37Quite a cool breeze still

0:00:37 > 0:00:39around the southern flank

0:00:39 > 0:00:41of that high-pressure across southern areas,

0:00:41 > 0:00:43so out of the sun and in the breeze

0:00:43 > 0:00:44it feels quite cool.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46But further north, the winds are

0:00:46 > 0:00:47virtually non-existent,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49so against the highest temperatures

0:00:49 > 0:00:50will be across Scotland,

0:00:50 > 0:00:52particularly the Western Highlands,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54nudging 18 or 19 degrees,

0:00:54 > 0:00:55a bit cooler further east.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Certainly along the North Sea coasts

0:00:57 > 0:00:58with the breeze off the sea

0:00:58 > 0:01:00it will feel distinctly fresh.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Whereas further west, temperatures higher.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05But widely we're up into the low to mid teens.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Though there will be that breeze

0:01:07 > 0:01:08across southern areas.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11And that will make it feel distinctly fresh

0:01:11 > 0:01:12if you're out of the sun.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15That breeze continues into the night.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Weather-wise, another dry one coming up.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19There will be areas of mist

0:01:19 > 0:01:21and low cloud forming, particularly across

0:01:21 > 0:01:23some northern and eastern areas.

0:01:23 > 0:01:24Another chilly one,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27temperatures widely down to single figures.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29Across some parts of rural northern Britain,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31we could see a touch of frost,

0:01:31 > 0:01:33particularly in the glens of Scotland.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36We will see some changes in the weather

0:01:36 > 0:01:38in the early part of next week,

0:01:38 > 0:01:39with low pressure beginning

0:01:39 > 0:01:41to nudge slowly towards us.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44I think on Monday it stays mostly dry.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46A bit more cloud around in some places,

0:01:46 > 0:01:48that low cloud will take some shifting

0:01:48 > 0:01:49across parts of north-east England

0:01:49 > 0:01:51and eastern Scotland.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53In the sunshine, again pretty warm,

0:01:53 > 0:01:54mid, possibly high teens.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58Where the low cloud sticks, no more than 8 or 9.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00By Tuesday, fronts are beginning

0:02:00 > 0:02:02to make inroads across the UK.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04Some uncertainty about the timing of this.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06It will be an erratic process.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07Some showery rain turning up

0:02:07 > 0:02:09across more southern and western areas

0:02:09 > 0:02:11during the course of Tuesday.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14Probably one more dry day across the north.

0:02:14 > 0:02:15Temperatures, the only brighter spell,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18despite some showers, still doing pretty well,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20up into the mid teens.

0:02:20 > 0:02:21It's only by Wednesday it looks as if

0:02:21 > 0:02:23the Atlantic is taking over

0:02:23 > 0:02:25with this large area of low pressure

0:02:25 > 0:02:27sending fronts in our direction.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29I think most of the oomph from those fronts

0:02:29 > 0:02:31will be more northern and western parts

0:02:31 > 0:02:33of the UK by this stage,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35so some heavy bursts here and quite a gusty wind.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37But only patchy rain further south and east.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39Still some dry spells and again

0:02:39 > 0:02:41in any brightness, with the southerly winds,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44temperatures will do pretty well,

0:02:44 > 0:02:45up into the high teens in some spots.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48This is Thursday's picture.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Fronts clearing away from the far north,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52wetter weather here for a time.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54Behind that, skies brighten again.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Again, if you can avoid the showers,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58get out of the breeze, in the sunshine,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00it's still going to feel pretty warm.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03The jet stream's beginning to wake up again.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Coming in off the Atlantic,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07this big dip in the jet stream

0:03:07 > 0:03:09is where we'll see most of the showers

0:03:09 > 0:03:10as we end the week.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13It'll be a temporary blip, I think.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16I showery start to April, it will be cooler than it has been,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18but he does look as if, later on,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21as we go into the following week,

0:03:21 > 0:03:23high pressure might begin to build in again,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25settling the weather down, particularly in the south.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27I'll update you again tomorrow.
