0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there, some rain for all of us later on this week, but, you know,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08we really can't complain. Time perhaps for a reality check,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10let's head down under,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13where Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie is making landfall on

0:00:13 > 0:00:17the Queensland coast, bringing violent winds and flooding rains.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19And although it will no longer be a cyclone as it heads in the

0:00:19 > 0:00:23direction of Brisbane, it's going to bring some major impacts,

0:00:23 > 0:00:25all that rainfall has got to go somewhere.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28We'll keep an eye on Debbie over the next few days.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31Closer to home, we've got our own game-changer,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33a huge area of low pressure dominating the Atlantic.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Nothing as extreme as Debbie,

0:00:35 > 0:00:39but just watch how it ambles its way across the Atlantic in our

0:00:39 > 0:00:42direction and in fact, come the start of the weekend,

0:00:42 > 0:00:44it will be slap bang on top of us.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46No major impacts, but, yes,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49there will be some rain around by then.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52At the moment, it's dry out there just about everywhere,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54some showers getting into parts of Wales and

0:00:54 > 0:00:55western England in the morning,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58the odd one reaching further east but the main oomph will be pushing

0:00:58 > 0:01:01up through Northern Ireland into south-west Scotland.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03A lot more cloud across Scotland than we've seen recently,

0:01:03 > 0:01:04and so it will be cooler.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07But further south, in any sunshine, I think it will feel pleasantly

0:01:07 > 0:01:10warm, mid to high teens with fairly light winds.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12As we head into the evening,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14another front pushes into western areas,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17some damp, dreary weather overnight followed by yet another one,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20bringing some heavier rain to many northern and western areas through

0:01:20 > 0:01:22Wednesday, on a strengthening wind.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Whereas further south and east,

0:01:24 > 0:01:26despite a lot of cloud on Wednesday, it will stay

0:01:26 > 0:01:30mostly dry and pretty mild again, mid teens quite widely.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Though it will be cooler along that eastern Scottish coast.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36And over the following few days, we'll see further fronts coming

0:01:36 > 0:01:40in, as that area of low pressure I mentioned begins to arrive.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42But the focus of the rain for the time being,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44will be across the more northern and western areas.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46At the same time, we start to drag in some pretty warm air

0:01:46 > 0:01:49from the near Continent, just watch how the map turns increasingly

0:01:49 > 0:01:52orange across parts of East Anglia and the south-east and that

0:01:52 > 0:01:55is indicative of temperatures nudging 20 degrees here in

0:01:55 > 0:01:58the sunshine, whereas further north and west with more cloud,

0:01:58 > 0:02:01more rain, more breeze, it won't be anything like as warm.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05We end the week with a cold front pushing that warm air away,

0:02:05 > 0:02:09so a fresher feel for all of us, and circulating around that area

0:02:09 > 0:02:12of low pressure we will see some showers.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14Difficult to get the detail right at this range,

0:02:14 > 0:02:17but expect a rather showery end to the week,

0:02:17 > 0:02:20quite blustery winds. There will be some sunshine but we'll have

0:02:20 > 0:02:23lost the high teens, low to mid teens at this stage.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25And we start the weekend on a showery note,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28as that low pressure sits on top of us,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31some more prolonged rain in some places, and it will be cooler

0:02:31 > 0:02:37by then as well, so low teens probably typical, 12 or 13 at best.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41So we are under that area of low pressure which, as you recall,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44has travelled all the way across the Atlantic to arrive on top

0:02:44 > 0:02:47of us just in time for the weekend.

0:02:47 > 0:02:51And that low pressure is formed in a dip in the jet stream.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53The jet stream is to the south of us at this stage,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56we are on the cool side of things.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59But it does look as if, as we head into next week,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01the jet stream is going to start to shift its way back

0:03:01 > 0:03:04northwards again, although there might be some rain across the far

0:03:04 > 0:03:07north-west, with most of us clear of the jet,

0:03:07 > 0:03:11and on the southern side of it, things look like warming up again.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14So some changes once more as we head into next week,

0:03:14 > 0:03:17it does look as if that after that rather showery start to the

0:03:17 > 0:03:19weekend as the jet heads north,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22it will turn drier again from the south and it will begin to

0:03:22 > 0:03:23warm up again.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26So, some changes ahead and I'll update you again,

0:03:26 > 0:03:28once more, tomorrow. Goodnight.
