0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. Well, the weather looks like settling down again as we get

0:00:04 > 0:00:06into early April but late March

0:00:06 > 0:00:08is developing something of an identity crisis.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10Huge amounts of variety up and down the UK.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14For some of us in the sunshine, it's going to feel like early summer,

0:00:14 > 0:00:1720 or 21 degrees, whereas for others,

0:00:17 > 0:00:20it's going to be quite a lot of rain and inevitably it won't feel

0:00:20 > 0:00:22anything like as comfortable here.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23Most of the rain on Wednesday

0:00:23 > 0:00:25out west and fairly wet weather

0:00:25 > 0:00:27actually surging up through the Irish Sea,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29parts of West Wales, Northern Ireland,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31north-west England seeing some of that wet weather,

0:00:31 > 0:00:33pushing up into Scotland too,

0:00:33 > 0:00:34whereas, as you can see,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36further south and east, it stays mostly dry.

0:00:36 > 0:00:37The dry weather holding on

0:00:37 > 0:00:39across the far north-east of Scotland.

0:00:39 > 0:00:40Quite chilly here,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42but the rest of Scotland milder but wetter.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44Some are drier spells for Northern Ireland,

0:00:44 > 0:00:45by not to be relied upon.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Further rain for north-west England,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49West Wales again,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51and just fringing into Cornwall perhaps,

0:00:51 > 0:00:52but points east of that,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54actually not seeing much rain at all.

0:00:54 > 0:00:55A lot of dry weather

0:00:55 > 0:00:58albeit quite cloudy, but mild and muggy,

0:00:58 > 0:00:59mid-teens quite widely.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Mind you, that's as nothing compared to the warmth which is going

0:01:02 > 0:01:05to waft up into some parts of the south-east and East Anglia

0:01:05 > 0:01:08on Thursday, courtesy of southerly winds.

0:01:08 > 0:01:12Somebody somewhere could well hit 20 or 21 degrees.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13Further north and west, though,

0:01:13 > 0:01:14it's progressively cooler.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16Mid-teens is the best I can offer you

0:01:16 > 0:01:17and we'll have some more of that rain again,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19particularly up through the Irish Sea,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21West Wales seeing quite a lot of rain,

0:01:21 > 0:01:22perhaps north-west England.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24Some drier spells for Northern Ireland

0:01:24 > 0:01:26and Scotland, but nothing like as warm

0:01:26 > 0:01:27as it will be in the sunshine

0:01:27 > 0:01:29across the south-east.

0:01:29 > 0:01:30Another batch of rain turning up

0:01:30 > 0:01:32across western areas again on Friday

0:01:32 > 0:01:34and that's going to start to head its way

0:01:34 > 0:01:35further eastwards through the day.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Ahead of that still some warmth,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39but that rain is coming

0:01:39 > 0:01:40courtesy of a cold front

0:01:40 > 0:01:43and that cold front will displace the warmer air -

0:01:43 > 0:01:45a fresher end to the week for all of us

0:01:45 > 0:01:48and the weekend starts on that fresh note -

0:01:48 > 0:01:50blobs of blue indicating some showers,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53there is a ridge of high pressure building in from the west, though.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56So to sum up this weekend, we start off on that showery note,

0:01:56 > 0:02:001st of April, of course, then it turns the drier and finer on Sunday,

0:02:00 > 0:02:01some chilly nights, though.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03A bit more detail then -

0:02:03 > 0:02:04here's a snapshot for Saturday.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06Don't take the location

0:02:06 > 0:02:08of the blobs of blue too literally,

0:02:08 > 0:02:09just indicating a lot of showers around.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Some of those showers quite slow-moving

0:02:11 > 0:02:12cos the winds will be fairly light.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14It'll feel cooler than it has done

0:02:14 > 0:02:17for a good few of us, despite some sunshine.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18A chilly start to Sunday,

0:02:18 > 0:02:19but the showers will have gone by then.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21For most of us it'll be a drier day,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23light winds, very pleasant indeed,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25although the temperature's not spectacularly high.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28I think with light winds, it will feel quite nice.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31And then we look across the other side of the Atlantic

0:02:31 > 0:02:33for indications for next week.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35We're keeping an eye on this blob of cloud.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37It's an area of low pressure, actually,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40which is going to start to track its way north-eastwards we think

0:02:40 > 0:02:42as we go through the next week days.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44Now the track of that's going to be pivotal.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46I'm not going to lie to you,

0:02:46 > 0:02:47we don't know the exact track of this low,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50but it does look as if it's going to develop into a big, big feature

0:02:50 > 0:02:54through the middle part of the Atlantic through this weekend

0:02:54 > 0:02:58and throw up a ridge of high pressure across us.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01Now then, if that tracks its way up towards the north-west,

0:03:01 > 0:03:04we stay in the clear and it does look as if that jet stream

0:03:04 > 0:03:08will stay to the north-west of us for the most part through next week,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10keeping most of the rain to the north-west,

0:03:10 > 0:03:15but also keeping us in mostly warm air.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17North-westernmost parts of the UK are likely to see some rain

0:03:17 > 0:03:21at times next week, but many of us will be dry.

0:03:21 > 0:03:22And it will be warm, I think,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25particularly the further south and east we go.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26So for a good few of us

0:03:26 > 0:03:27it's a fairly bright outlook.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29We'll update you again tomorrow.
