1:51:21 > 1:51:24Hello there. Before we look ahead to early April, I thought we'd

1:51:24 > 1:51:26look back at the weather in March,

1:51:26 > 1:51:29and I'm going to show you a couple of charts from the Met Office.

1:51:29 > 1:51:30The first one shows rainfall.

1:51:30 > 1:51:34Brown is below-average rainfall for the month, so quite dry across

1:51:34 > 1:51:37the north-west of Scotland and dry again in the south-east of England.

1:51:37 > 1:51:40This could lead to impacts further down the line,

1:51:40 > 1:51:45but December, January, February and March all drier than average.

1:51:45 > 1:51:48Sunshine amounts - and you can see that it's been duller than

1:51:48 > 1:51:51average in the south-west, but where it's been drier,

1:51:51 > 1:51:53in the north-west of Scotland, it's also been sunnier,

1:51:53 > 1:51:57and generally through the month the weather got better and better.

1:51:57 > 1:52:00And we've got some sunshine this weekend, as well,

1:52:00 > 1:52:02but we start the new month with some April showers.

1:52:02 > 1:52:03Those fade away overnight,

1:52:03 > 1:52:06and it should be a fine day to come on Sunday.

1:52:06 > 1:52:09Showers from the word go across many western parts of England and

1:52:09 > 1:52:12Wales, a few in the north-west of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

1:52:12 > 1:52:14Through the day, those showers could generate almost anywhere.

1:52:14 > 1:52:17Slow-moving, they could be heavy and thundery.

1:52:17 > 1:52:19There'll be some sunshine in-between the showers,

1:52:19 > 1:52:21and with light winds it should feel quite warm,

1:52:21 > 1:52:25although temperatures a little bit down on Friday's values.

1:52:25 > 1:52:28Those showers push down across north-western parts of the UK,

1:52:28 > 1:52:32across Northern Ireland and further into Scotland. Some heavy ones here.

1:52:32 > 1:52:36A rash of sunshine and some showers across England and Wales,

1:52:36 > 1:52:38coastal areas perhaps seeing fewer showers.

1:52:38 > 1:52:41The showers arriving across East Anglia and the south-east more

1:52:41 > 1:52:43during the afternoon, so it's here we'll find the highest

1:52:43 > 1:52:46temperatures, possibly up to 16 degrees.

1:52:46 > 1:52:48The showers fade away overnight. It turns quite chilly.

1:52:48 > 1:52:50Those are the numbers in towns and cities, but in the

1:52:50 > 1:52:54countryside maybe a pinch of frost for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

1:52:54 > 1:52:56It'll warm up quickly, though, in the sunshine.

1:52:56 > 1:52:58A nice day, really, on Sunday,

1:52:58 > 1:53:00good spells of sunshine, a bit of cloud here and there,

1:53:00 > 1:53:03just a very small chance of a shower across northern England.

1:53:03 > 1:53:05The winds will be light,

1:53:05 > 1:53:08and there's a bit of warmth in that sun at this time of the year,

1:53:08 > 1:53:11so it'll feel pleasantly warm when the sun is out.

1:53:11 > 1:53:14As we look ahead to the beginning of next week,

1:53:14 > 1:53:17we've got that ridge of high pressure sitting across the UK.

1:53:17 > 1:53:20It's getting squeezed, though, by weather fronts moving down

1:53:20 > 1:53:22from the north-west on Monday.

1:53:22 > 1:53:25So for Scotland and Northern Ireland, we'll find some stronger

1:53:25 > 1:53:28winds here and we'll see a band of rain coming in from the north-west.

1:53:28 > 1:53:32But England and Wales, it may be a bit warmer, actually, 16, 17 degrees

1:53:32 > 1:53:36quite likely with a dry day on Monday and some sunshine at times.

1:53:36 > 1:53:40But those weather fronts are going to be marching south-eastwards.

1:53:40 > 1:53:43As they do so, they become very much weaker,

1:53:43 > 1:53:47so again a little rain to come across the south-east of the UK,

1:53:47 > 1:53:49with high pressure tending to build in behind that.

1:53:49 > 1:53:52It could be cloudy for a good part of the day in the south-east.

1:53:52 > 1:53:54There might still be one or two showers.

1:53:54 > 1:53:56Many other areas are likely to be dry.

1:53:56 > 1:53:59Some stronger winds in northern Scotland, though, and some rain

1:53:59 > 1:54:03or showers not far away from here, but pleasant in the sunshine again.

1:54:03 > 1:54:07And more sunshine to come on Wednesday, light winds for all but

1:54:07 > 1:54:10the northern half of the UK, with some stronger winds in Scotland.

1:54:10 > 1:54:13This is Atlantic air, and it may well bring some more cloud and

1:54:13 > 1:54:15a few spots of rain onto some western hills.

1:54:15 > 1:54:18There are weather fronts, bands of rain waiting out in

1:54:18 > 1:54:21the Atlantic to arrive across our shores, but they're getting blocked

1:54:21 > 1:54:25by this area of high pressure that builds in across the UK next week.

1:54:25 > 1:54:29The centre of the high pressure will slowly migrate to become

1:54:29 > 1:54:32centred across Germany during next weekend.

1:54:32 > 1:54:35That will allow the wind direction to change.

1:54:35 > 1:54:36We'll get more of a southerly breeze.

1:54:36 > 1:54:38That should tend to lift the temperatures.

1:54:38 > 1:54:41Again, for most places it'll be dry with some sunshine,

1:54:41 > 1:54:44but we also open up the opportunity for some weather fronts to approach

1:54:44 > 1:54:48the north-west, threatening some cloud and some rain. Goodbye.
