0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. It was mixed fortunes this weekend.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06We had low pressure in charge of the weather on Saturday.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09That brought some sunshine, yes, but also a good scattering of showers.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12This was the view taken by one of our Weather Watchers in the

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Highlands of Scotland.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16But high pressure took over on Sunday,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19and that brought a very pleasant day to most parts of the UK -

0:00:19 > 0:00:20a good deal of sunshine,

0:00:20 > 0:00:23a bit of patchy cloud here and there but a lovely view across the water

0:00:23 > 0:00:27captured again by one of our Weather Watchers in St Ives in Cornwall.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30The week ahead's looking pretty good. Very little rain to speak of.

0:00:30 > 0:00:31There will be some, as you'll see in a minute,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34but overall it's looking fine and settled for the most part,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37daytime highs typically 12 to 14 degrees.

0:00:37 > 0:00:38There are some chilly nights

0:00:38 > 0:00:41in the forecast, as well, though. We start Monday on a chilly note.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43There'll be a few patches of mist and fog for some southern and

0:00:43 > 0:00:45eastern coastal counties. Shouldn't last too long.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Overall, England and Wales are looking at a pleasant day.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50A good deal of sunshine, a breeze coming in from the south.

0:00:50 > 0:00:54It'll feel quite warm for some, but different in the north and west.

0:00:54 > 0:00:58We've got clouds, a bit of a breeze and some outbreaks of rain

0:00:58 > 0:00:59into Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01Eastern Scotland should do quite well

0:01:01 > 0:01:03well on into the afternoon, staying dry and bright.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Further west, it's quite cloudy and breezy,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08and there'll be some rain just fringing into western

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Wales, and it's not too far away from Cornwall by the

0:01:10 > 0:01:12middle of the afternoon.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15So clouding over ahead of the rain, but I think in the Midlands and much

0:01:15 > 0:01:17of eastern England we're going to hang on to some pretty decent

0:01:17 > 0:01:19spells of sunshine well on into the afternoon,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22and top temperatures in the south-east at 15 or 16 degrees.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25That rain does move eastwards Monday night into Tuesday.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28It fizzles out, though, very little left by Tuesday morning in

0:01:28 > 0:01:31the south-eastern corner, and behind it it's bright and breezy.

0:01:31 > 0:01:32Maybe a few showers coming in on the

0:01:32 > 0:01:34breeze to the north and the west of the UK.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Top temperatures around 14 or 15 degrees, and that'll be in

0:01:37 > 0:01:41the south-eastern corner, 10 to 12 or 13 for Glasgow and for Belfast.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45Now, as we go through Tuesday night into Wednesday, this big area

0:01:45 > 0:01:47of high pressure becomes quite well established across the UK.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50A fair number of isobars across the north of the UK,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53which means it'll be a bit breezy here through the middle of the week.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56But apart from that we've got a lot of dry and bright weather,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59with lighter winds the further south and west you go.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Variable amounts of cloud, some sunshine, just about everywhere

0:02:01 > 0:02:04in double figures, peaking at around about 14, maybe 15 degrees.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06A lot of dry weather, just a shower or two coming in on that

0:02:06 > 0:02:09breeze towards the north of the UK.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11And then, through Wednesday night into Thursday,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13we've still got high pressure in charge.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Still a fair number of isobars across the north of the UK,

0:02:15 > 0:02:19so still quite breezy here, but most of the rain is well to

0:02:19 > 0:02:22the north of the UK and most places will have a decent day on Thursday.

0:02:22 > 0:02:23Again a bit of a chilly start,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25and by the afternoon it's 11 degrees in Glasgow,

0:02:25 > 0:02:3013 or 14 in the London area with a lot of bright weather to be had.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32And we end the week on a fairly similar note.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34A bit chilly first thing, but a lot of dry,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37bright weather with the lightest winds the further south you are.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39And again, it's 12 to 14 degrees for Cardiff and for London,

0:02:39 > 0:02:43maybe 11 or so for Glasgow and for Belfast.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45Now, as we head on into the following weekend,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47high pressure is still just about in charge.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49It's slipping away towards the south,

0:02:49 > 0:02:53and lower pressure is getting closer to the north of the UK,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55which means we might see a little bit of cloud and rain towards

0:02:55 > 0:02:58the north, but further south we've still got that high just

0:02:58 > 0:03:00about lingering on. Particularly in the southern half of the UK

0:03:00 > 0:03:04it should still be quite settled and also relatively warm.

0:03:04 > 0:03:08However, changes are afoot as we look towards the following week,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11because it looks as if a change in type is on the way.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Low pressure will be taking over, and as it does so,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16it's going to introduce this much colder north-westerly wind.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Temperatures might start off around about average,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21but I think early into the following week we are going to see

0:03:21 > 0:03:23things turning colder across the board and it's going to

0:03:23 > 0:03:26turn more unsettled, lots of showers. And those showers are

0:03:26 > 0:03:29not just a bit of rain, there's some wintry weather in the north.
