0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello, there. At one point in the Weather For The Week Ahead

0:00:04 > 0:00:08we're going to go from summer warmth to some late winter snow.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10Before we get there, things are fairly quiet.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Not particularly straightforward,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14because there's a lot of cloud in the forecast

0:00:14 > 0:00:16through Thursday, but how thin it's going to be

0:00:16 > 0:00:18and how many breaks, that's difficult to judge.

0:00:18 > 0:00:19The breaks are more likely

0:00:19 > 0:00:21with some sunshine across eastern Scotland

0:00:21 > 0:00:22and northeast England.

0:00:22 > 0:00:23Where the wind is a bit stronger,

0:00:23 > 0:00:24just across Scotland,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26it will bring differences in Scotland.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29Western Scotland could be cloudy and a little damp.

0:00:29 > 0:00:30Otherwise, I think it'll be

0:00:30 > 0:00:31a dry day on Thursday.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34For most of us, again it will stay dry overnight.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35Where the cloud breaks arrive -

0:00:35 > 0:00:37possibly in parts of Wales,

0:00:37 > 0:00:38the West Midlands,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40maybe into the southwest of England,

0:00:40 > 0:00:42again, eastern Scotland, northeast England -

0:00:42 > 0:00:43will turn chilly.

0:00:43 > 0:00:452-4 degrees or so, but otherwise,

0:00:45 > 0:00:47under the cloud, about 7 Celsius.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Friday is pretty much deja vu.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53The best of the sunshine more likely in eastern Scotland,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55northeast England,

0:00:55 > 0:00:56quite a lot of cloud around elsewhere.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58It's quite thin, so it'll be bright at times.

0:00:58 > 0:01:01Again with those winds coming in from the Atlantic,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03there may be a little light rain or drizzle

0:01:03 > 0:01:04across the northwest of Scotland.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06Those are the temperatures,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08again possibly up to 13 or 14 degrees.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Quiet, because high pressure is sitting

0:01:10 > 0:01:11right over the UK.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14But things will change as we head into the weekend.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16We're going to find the high pressure migrating

0:01:16 > 0:01:17into central Europe. As it does so,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19these weather fronts approach

0:01:19 > 0:01:20the northwest of the UK,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22but will also draw up more of a southerly wind

0:01:22 > 0:01:24that will blow in some warmth,

0:01:24 > 0:01:26particularly if we get the sunshine.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29That is more likely across England and Wales.

0:01:29 > 0:01:30This is Saturday.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Already it's become brighter,

0:01:32 > 0:01:33there's a bit more sunshine around.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35We haven't really got the warm air yet,

0:01:35 > 0:01:36but temperatures will be a bit higher

0:01:36 > 0:01:37for many parts of the country.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Again, it should be fine and dry.

0:01:40 > 0:01:41It's really as we head

0:01:41 > 0:01:43into the second half of the weekend,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45we've got much more sunshine across England and Wales,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47but for Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49more in the way of cloud here still.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51Later on, this band of rain arriving

0:01:51 > 0:01:52in the northwest of the UK.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55So temperatures aren't going to rise that much

0:01:55 > 0:01:57for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:57 > 0:01:58It's really across England and Wales

0:01:58 > 0:02:00in the sunshine and those southerly breezes

0:02:00 > 0:02:02that will see the numbers getting up

0:02:02 > 0:02:05as high as 23 Celsius in the southeast of England.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06A bit of summer warmth.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07But then we lurch from that

0:02:07 > 0:02:09into something much colder for Monday.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11That weather front weakens

0:02:11 > 0:02:12as it heads down across the UK,

0:02:12 > 0:02:14but instead of a southerly wind,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16we get more of a northerly wind,

0:02:16 > 0:02:17so that means we're going to find

0:02:17 > 0:02:19there'll be some sunshine around.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21For many in the southern half of the UK, it'll be dry.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24But further north, particularly in the north of Scotland,

0:02:24 > 0:02:25there'll be some showers.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Here, the temperatures will be significantly lower,

0:02:28 > 0:02:31so much so that over the mountains of Scotland,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33we may well have a little bit more fresh snow.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36But that cold air is going to be very short-lived.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40It's really on Monday that we've got that northerly air flow

0:02:40 > 0:02:42across the UK, but as we head into Tuesday,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44the colder air gets shunted away

0:02:44 > 0:02:46towards Scandinavia and things start to turn milder

0:02:46 > 0:02:48as we get more of a westerly.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50That sets us up for later on in the week,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53approaching the Easter weekend, of course.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55High pressure across the southern half of the UK,

0:02:55 > 0:02:56stronger westerly winds,

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Atlantic winds across the north.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01With that, not only will we see the stronger wind,

0:03:01 > 0:03:05but we could drive in some areas of low pressure close to Scotland,

0:03:05 > 0:03:07threatening to bring something more changeable here.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10We sort of sum it up north, south for the early part of Easter.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12More likely to have cloud, perhaps some rain at times,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15although there could be some drier and brighter spells

0:03:15 > 0:03:17developing perhaps by Saturday across the north.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20The boundary will shift a little bit, but generally speaking,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23further south across the UK, early Easter looks like

0:03:23 > 0:03:25we're back into high pressure, so it should be dry.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27There'll be some sunshine, but, again,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29no significant rain in the southeast.
