0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. If it's your first holiday of the year, I suppose the

0:00:04 > 0:00:07weather for the rest of the weekend into Easter is very important.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09First things first, forget that 25 Celsius we saw at the weekend,

0:00:09 > 0:00:11weather is back to normal.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13That means westerly or north-westerly winds dominating,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16certainly north-westerly winds as we head towards Easter weekend.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19To start with, a quick look out for what we can expect temperature wise.

0:00:19 > 0:00:20Not 25.

0:00:20 > 0:00:23These sort of values closer to where we should be for this time of year.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25But the sun is going to get a bit stronger and where you get it, you

0:00:25 > 0:00:29will see it this Easter weekend, it will still feel warm enough.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32More details coming up, but, first, back to the here and now.

0:00:32 > 0:00:33Tuesday, high pressure across the south.

0:00:33 > 0:00:35Low-pressure becoming dominant in the north.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38And that means we've got a day rain at times,

0:00:38 > 0:00:42particularly on the hills of the Western Highlands, into the

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Hebrides, up in Shetland, a pretty soggy day and a windy day here.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Maybe the odd spot of rain and wind in other parts of Scotland,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50Northern Ireland but, generally, a dry day, lots of high cloud.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52A good deal of sunshine the further south you go,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55here the warmest conditions with the lightest of the breeze.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Again, 16 Celsius possible, just like we saw on Monday,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59and that will feel very nice.

0:00:59 > 0:01:01But, as we go into the night,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03clear skies mean an initial drop in temperature.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06But notice the rain from northern Scotland starts to make

0:01:06 > 0:01:07a push further south.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09West of Scotland likely to see the rain, eastern Scotland not

0:01:09 > 0:01:12see much, Northern Ireland by the end of the night and into

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Wednesday morning, and north-west England getting soggier and soggier.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18And not quite as cold as we start Wednesday as it

0:01:18 > 0:01:19will have been to start Tuesday.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21This is the set-up for Wednesday.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Low-pressure more dominant than high pressure by now.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27North-westerly winds becoming more of a feature through the day,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30and that will make it feel much, much cooler across the board.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32Even in the south, the breeze will temper the feel.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Patchy rain and drizzle heading southwards across England and

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Wales, still not much rain, though, across southern parts of England.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40Sunshine and showers, Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:40 > 0:01:41and northern England.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43North-westerly winds dominate into Thursday,

0:01:43 > 0:01:46a brief ridge of high pressure pushes in.

0:01:46 > 0:01:47A chilly start to Thursday.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50That means we could see temperatures around two or three degrees

0:01:50 > 0:01:51in some parts to begin with,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53and then only around 10 to 14 through the afternoon.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Dry, sunny start, lasting longest the sunshine in the east,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58clouding over from the north and west

0:01:58 > 0:02:01with some occasional rain showers later on.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Which takes us into the start of your Easter weekend.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06High pressure not quite close enough to begin with,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08we've still got that run of westerly to north-westerly winds,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10the weather front straggling across northern England and

0:02:10 > 0:02:12North Wales at the moment.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14But a slightly milder day compared with Thursday, at least.

0:02:14 > 0:02:15Some sunshine here and there,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Scotland, Northern Ireland, one or two showers,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21and a bit of sunshine to start the Easter weekend in the far south.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24But as we head into Saturday, as that one weak weather front

0:02:24 > 0:02:27clears from the south, still not much rain across the south.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28Low pressure dominates.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31So, Saturday probably the greatest chance of seeing showers

0:02:31 > 0:02:33through the Easter weekend.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Wind is going more and more northwesterly, so it will feel cool.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Cluster area of low pressure in the east where we are

0:02:38 > 0:02:41most likely to see showers, but even here, sunshine at times, and

0:02:41 > 0:02:45across southern and western areas, few showers, a lot of dry weather.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48So it takes us into that Easter weekend with this sort of set-up.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50The jet stream running right down across the UK,

0:02:50 > 0:02:52almost splitting us in two.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54High pressure to the west, low pressure to the east,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56low pressure always an area where we see showers close by,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59so it's eastern areas that are most prone to seeing such showers.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02But anywhere could see the odd shower through the weekend.

0:03:02 > 0:03:03But do not write off this Easter weekend.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06Yes, it will feel cooler than last weekend, but there will still

0:03:06 > 0:03:08be a lot of this - a lot of dry weather, some sunshine at times.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Don't forget that sun is getting stronger by the day,

0:03:11 > 0:03:13so once you're in the sunshine, it will feel pleasant enough.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16As we finish Easter and go into the start of next week,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18it looks like high becomes established to the south,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20keeping things dry here. The question next, though,

0:03:20 > 0:03:24is where this low-pressure system in the north-west goes.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26Will it push down across us or just scoot across the north?

0:03:26 > 0:03:28That, we'll keep you updated on over the next few days.
