0:00:02 > 0:00:04Well, if you're hoping for some glorious weather this Easter
0:00:04 > 0:00:07weekend, well, it's not going to happen, we're certainly not going
0:00:07 > 0:00:09to have the warmth we had not all that long ago.
0:00:09 > 0:00:12It's looking pretty cool and showery,
0:00:12 > 0:00:15in the run-up to Easter and throughout Easter itself.
0:00:15 > 0:00:18There will be differences from day-to-day, regionally,
0:00:18 > 0:00:20but overall, across the UK,
0:00:20 > 0:00:23the general weather pattern isn't going to change an awful lot.
0:00:23 > 0:00:26We have a very weak area of high pressure to the south of us
0:00:26 > 0:00:29and also an equally weak area of low pressure to the north.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31What does that mean?
0:00:31 > 0:00:34Well, actually, not an awful lot to most of us,
0:00:34 > 0:00:37because it just means there will be a fair amount of cloud around,
0:00:37 > 0:00:40with some sunshine and showers across the north-west of the UK.
0:00:40 > 0:00:42We need more powerful,
0:00:42 > 0:00:45bigger weather systems to push the whether through, to see bigger
0:00:45 > 0:00:49changes, and we're just not getting that out there in the Atlantic.
0:00:49 > 0:00:52And one such weather system comes through during the course of
0:00:52 > 0:00:55Thursday night into Good Friday.
0:00:55 > 0:00:58Quite a few weather fronts here, but actually, they're very slow-moving,
0:00:58 > 0:01:01very sluggish, not an awful lot of wind, but actually quite a bit
0:01:01 > 0:01:03of cloud.
0:01:03 > 0:01:06So, on Good Friday, it starts off pretty overcast across southern
0:01:06 > 0:01:09areas, especially where these weather fronts are crossing,
0:01:09 > 0:01:12and with that comes a chance of catching some rain.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14Whereas, to the north, away from these weather fronts,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16particularly northern England, Scotland,
0:01:16 > 0:01:19it looks like the weather will be just that little bit brighter,
0:01:19 > 0:01:22but here, too, because there is an area of high pressure to the
0:01:22 > 0:01:24north, here too there will be some showers on and off,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26throughout the course of the day.
0:01:26 > 0:01:28And it's going to be pretty cool as well.
0:01:28 > 0:01:30Now, this is Saturday,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33so again it's a really messy picture on the weather map.
0:01:33 > 0:01:38And high pressure is just about to the west of our neighbourhood,
0:01:38 > 0:01:40low pressure is here,
0:01:40 > 0:01:42between we get this north-westerly flow of air,
0:01:42 > 0:01:46so it remains cool and actually, Saturday may end up being
0:01:46 > 0:01:49a reasonably good day, there could be some lengthier sunny spells,
0:01:49 > 0:01:51particularly across southern areas.
0:01:51 > 0:01:53And this high pressure kind of hangs on to the south during the
0:01:53 > 0:01:55course of Easter Day.
0:01:55 > 0:01:58Whereas, in the north we've got a weather front and with
0:01:58 > 0:02:00the weather front sitting across northern parts of the UK
0:02:00 > 0:02:01during Easter,
0:02:01 > 0:02:04it does look as though it will be pretty cloudy with some rain.
0:02:04 > 0:02:07But in the south, it looks like it'll be
0:02:07 > 0:02:09a little bit drier and brighter.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12So, we're not really forecasting any substantial heavy outbreaks
0:02:12 > 0:02:15of rain, nor particularly overcast conditions,
0:02:15 > 0:02:19they are just sort of nuances from day-to-day.
0:02:19 > 0:02:23Having said that, on Easter Day, and into Easter... Into Tuesday,
0:02:23 > 0:02:27we are going to see weather fronts moving off the Atlantic in a
0:02:27 > 0:02:28more substantial way,
0:02:28 > 0:02:31so a bigger weather front arrives on Easter Monday and will be
0:02:31 > 0:02:34crossing us over the next 24 hours from that,
0:02:34 > 0:02:37and that means thicker cloud, outbreaks of rain,
0:02:37 > 0:02:40perhaps more of a breeze coming in from the south-west as well.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42But eastern areas, as you can see here,
0:02:42 > 0:02:43a little bit drier and brighter.
0:02:43 > 0:02:47And then that low barrels across the UK, over a period of
0:02:47 > 0:02:51around 24 to 48 hours, sitting right on top of us on Tuesday.
0:02:51 > 0:02:54So, I think quite a blustery day, with some showers.
0:02:54 > 0:02:57So, you get the message that from early next week the weather does
0:02:57 > 0:03:01turn a little bit more unsettled, a little bit more changeable.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03And then beyond that,
0:03:03 > 0:03:06that low that parks itself across the UK or barrels
0:03:06 > 0:03:10through slowly, drifts down towards Benelux during the
0:03:10 > 0:03:13course of early to middle of next week,
0:03:13 > 0:03:16and with high pressure to the west,
0:03:16 > 0:03:18you can see how the winds blow round the high pressure here,
0:03:18 > 0:03:20around the low pressure here, in between
0:03:20 > 0:03:24you get a flow of cooler northerly air. So, overall,
0:03:24 > 0:03:26after all of that,
0:03:26 > 0:03:28it doesn't look like there's any major change to our weather.
0:03:28 > 0:03:30That's it.
