0:00:02 > 0:00:04What a difference a week makes.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06Last weekend, and you've probably forgotten by now,

0:00:06 > 0:00:11it was 25 degrees Celsius across the south of the UK.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15This weekend, it's closer to 10 degrees across some parts of

0:00:15 > 0:00:17the country, 15 at best.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19And it is going to stay pretty chilly because the air is

0:00:19 > 0:00:22coming in all the way from the Arctic.

0:00:22 > 0:00:26Now, this time of the year, Arctic air doesn't feel that cold

0:00:26 > 0:00:28because we got some strong sunshine about,

0:00:28 > 0:00:31and there has been a bit of sunshine around during the course of Friday,

0:00:31 > 0:00:35but, overall, a lot of cloud, there are some showers around as well, and

0:00:35 > 0:00:40this cool pattern with plenty of cloud and spots of rain,

0:00:40 > 0:00:44on and off, is going to continue, not just through the whole of

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Easter, but it looks like well into next week as well.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49So, these are the temperatures for Saturday.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Single figures in the far north of the country.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53Maybe 15 in London, briefly,

0:00:53 > 0:00:55depending on how much sunshine we are going to get.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58And, then, into Easter Day, so, the early hours of Easter Day can

0:00:58 > 0:01:01see some rain getting into north-western parts of the UK.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03It will start off dry in the far south, and in fact,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06if you are up very early in the morning, for some of us,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Easter Day is going to start off quite sunny, but very quickly,

0:01:09 > 0:01:13the clouds will stream in off the Atlantic, and there is

0:01:13 > 0:01:16still uncertainty, exactly, where this lump of rain is going to go.

0:01:16 > 0:01:17It could go a little bit further south,

0:01:17 > 0:01:20a little bit further north, but the thinking is that closer towards

0:01:20 > 0:01:24the south west, the weather is going to be just that little bit better.

0:01:24 > 0:01:28Now, on Easter Monday, this sort of flabby air of high pressure

0:01:28 > 0:01:30close to our neighbourhood is actually out west.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33And with low pressure here, the winds are coming in from

0:01:33 > 0:01:36the north, so we still keep that cool airstream.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Look at that - single figure temperatures with showers

0:01:39 > 0:01:42all the way down to the Norfolk coast.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44Now, finally, as we get into Tuesday,

0:01:44 > 0:01:46high pressure anchors itself across the UK

0:01:46 > 0:01:49so that means that winds fall light, there will be clear skies.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53But with clear skies, there is a good chance of some frost,

0:01:53 > 0:01:55ground frost at the very least, and in fact, air frost in some places.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58So, first thing on Tuesday in rural areas,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00it could be down to freezing or below.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03Then, during the day, struggling to around 10 or 11 degrees,

0:02:03 > 0:02:07again just that little bit warmer in London.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09And, then, on Wednesday, this weak weather front

0:02:09 > 0:02:12just about squeezes itself into this area of high pressure.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14When this happens,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16it generally means there is not an awful lot of oomph to the weather

0:02:16 > 0:02:19front, not an awful lot of rain,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21it may just be an area of cloud sitting on top of Scotland

0:02:21 > 0:02:22but to the south of that,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24it does look as though it's going to be dry.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28And, then, this high pressure sticks around just to the west of us.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30You've got broadly low pressure here.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34The winds blow around like so so we keep getting that flow of

0:02:34 > 0:02:37north-westerly winds but actually with the high-pressure fairly close

0:02:37 > 0:02:39to us on Thursday, in the centre of it,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41there's not going to be much wind around at all.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43So, it may end up being quite nice day.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45And, next week, broadly speaking,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47the high pressure is just again to the west of us.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50Low pressure to the east. If you were watching yesterday,

0:02:50 > 0:02:51it hasn't really changed.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Between these two, the air keeps on coming in from the north,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56we're not getting anything from the South.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59As long as that happens, it is not going to be warming up in a hurry.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Now, the thinking is that later next week,

0:03:01 > 0:03:03that high pressure may drift away little bit and when that

0:03:03 > 0:03:07happens, it opens the doors for low pressure to kind of sneak in.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11But they are not going to be very big or wet or windy areas of

0:03:11 > 0:03:14low pressure, it is because the jet stream is very weak.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16When we get a week slow-moving jet stream -

0:03:16 > 0:03:19and again I was talking about that yesterday - the lows aren't

0:03:19 > 0:03:22particularly intense, so the weather is kind of neither here nor there.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25So, the best way to describe it - it's looking pretty chilly,

0:03:25 > 0:03:28there will be some sunshine, and just be prepared for a few showers.
