0:00:00 > 0:00:02Hello, there. If you were looking for drama from the weather,

0:00:02 > 0:00:05well, it's been a bit lacking this weekend so far.

0:00:05 > 0:00:07Things have been fairly quiet and I have to say

0:00:07 > 0:00:09there's nothing much more dramatic on the horizon

0:00:09 > 0:00:10through the week ahead.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13A lot of dry weather and some sunny spells but,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15bear in mind, at night

0:00:15 > 0:00:18things will turn very cold and very frosty.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20But back to the here and now through Easter Day,

0:00:20 > 0:00:22we are going to see this wiggling weather front

0:00:22 > 0:00:24causing one or two weather headaches.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26A zone of cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:00:26 > 0:00:29moving across central areas of the UK.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Bit of uncertainty about just how far north

0:00:31 > 0:00:34or just how far south that wet weather will be.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36And to the north of that, if you're off for

0:00:36 > 0:00:39a lunchtime stroll across the northern half of Scotland,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41actually a decent afternoon with some sunshine

0:00:41 > 0:00:42and just a few showers.

0:00:42 > 0:00:44But through Northern Ireland,

0:00:44 > 0:00:46down into northern England, north Wales and the Midlands,

0:00:46 > 0:00:48we're likely to have some outbreaks of rain,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49maybe even some snow mixed in

0:00:49 > 0:00:51over the highest ground of the Pennines

0:00:51 > 0:00:53and temperatures really struggling.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Seven Celsius there in Hull.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Down towards the far south-west,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59well, here should avoid most of the wet weather

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and it will be that bit milder as well.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03And as we head towards the end of the day,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06we'll see that rain clearing away to the south-east

0:01:06 > 0:01:08to leave a pretty chilly night, actually.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10It will be quite a cold start to Easter Monday,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12particularly where we have some clear spells.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14Towns and cities, 3 to 9 Celsius.

0:01:14 > 0:01:16But out in the countryside,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18a frosty night in prospect.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20So, Easter Monday starts off like this,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23high pressure to the west, low pressure to the east,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25that gives us a northerly wind.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27The wind not desperately strong in most places,

0:01:27 > 0:01:30although it will be quite breezy up towards the north-east.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32But what that northerly wind will do

0:01:32 > 0:01:35is bring cold air a long way south

0:01:35 > 0:01:36across the country.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38A very, very chilly feel to the weather

0:01:38 > 0:01:39on Easter Monday.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41There'll be some spells of sunshine,

0:01:41 > 0:01:42there will also be some showers.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Some of those showers even wintry over high ground,

0:01:45 > 0:01:46especially in the north.

0:01:46 > 0:01:497 Celsius the best we can expect in Aberdeen,

0:01:49 > 0:01:50maybe 14 in London.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Now, as we go through Monday night and into Tuesday,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56our area of high pressure topples its way southwards,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59building in across the British Isles.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Now, on its southern and eastern flank,

0:02:01 > 0:02:03here we'll have some fairly strong winds.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05It will feel chilly towards the south-east.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06One or two showers here as well.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07Just 9 Celsius in Norwich.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09But actually, generally speaking,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11Tuesday is a largely dry day.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Tuesday night, another cold one

0:02:13 > 0:02:14underneath our area of high pressure.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17But with the high pressure centred right across the heart

0:02:17 > 0:02:19of the British Isles at this stage,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21we're going to cut-off our chilly north

0:02:21 > 0:02:22or north-easterly wind.

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Instead, we see more of a westerly wind across many areas.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28So that will start to lift the temperatures a little bit

0:02:28 > 0:02:30and where you're exposed to that westerly wind,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32there could be some outbreaks of rain for Western Scotland.

0:02:32 > 0:02:34Similar sort of day on Thursday,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36some outbreaks of patchy rain to the north-west,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38a lot of dry weather, some sunshine

0:02:38 > 0:02:40but those temperatures at or even a little above

0:02:40 > 0:02:42where they should be for the time of year.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43Now, for the end of the week,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45our high pressure is still with us

0:02:45 > 0:02:48but at this stage it drifts south-westwards again

0:02:48 > 0:02:50and we start to switch the winds round

0:02:50 > 0:02:52to more of a northerly direction.

0:02:52 > 0:02:54That'll bring something a little bit cooler again.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Now, of course, our weather driven by the jet stream

0:02:56 > 0:02:58and as we go into next weekend,

0:02:58 > 0:02:59the jet stream is going to be sitting

0:02:59 > 0:03:01to the north of the British Isles

0:03:01 > 0:03:03and that will be spinning up areas of low pressure

0:03:03 > 0:03:05which are likely to run across some northern and eastern areas.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07So that's where we're likely to see

0:03:07 > 0:03:09some of the unsettled weather,

0:03:09 > 0:03:10as well as some fairly cool weather.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Further south and west, high pressure holding on

0:03:13 > 0:03:15so a lot of dry weather here.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16And actually, generally speaking,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17there will be a lot of dry weather

0:03:17 > 0:03:19through next weekend, some sunny spells.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21The wettest of the weather towards the north-east

0:03:21 > 0:03:23and it will be chilly, particularly in the north.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25Winds, though, will be mainly light.

0:03:25 > 0:03:27That's all from me for now.
