0:00:01 > 0:00:04It is going to be a cold and frosty start to Tuesday.

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Not just frosty, but for some there is likely to be some wintry weather

0:00:07 > 0:00:10particularly in the north and north-east of the UK.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14In fact, that is what we saw on Monday, some snow showers

0:00:14 > 0:00:16giving a covering of snow in some parts of the north of Scotland.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20Not unusual this time of year to see some snow, but certainly unwelcome.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22That is what we're going to see in the north and north-east

0:00:22 > 0:00:24through the morning. Cold in the wind as well.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27After a sunny start elsewhere, cloud will build and we will see

0:00:27 > 0:00:30some pretty lively showers going into the afternoon.

0:00:30 > 0:00:33Showers in Scotland will contain some snow mainly over high ground.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36Some might get down to lower levels at times and it is cold in

0:00:36 > 0:00:38the wind in spite of some sunshine.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Similar in Northern Ireland. There will be some hail,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44some thunder and showers across some parts of England and Wales.

0:00:44 > 0:00:45When you get the hail showers,

0:00:45 > 0:00:48you also get some really cold winds coming down from those clouds,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51down draughts which could drop temperatures by several degrees.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53But get back into the sunshine

0:00:53 > 0:00:55and out of the wind it will be not too bad.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Still further wintry showers around through the evening mainly towards

0:00:58 > 0:01:00the north and east of the UK.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03Further west, we have got clearer skies and the blue tinge,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05that is a touch of frost developing.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08I think generally it will be a cold start to the day on Wednesday.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10Single digits across the board.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12Probably below zero in a few places.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15We've got high pressure in charge on Wednesday.

0:01:15 > 0:01:16The winds go clockwise around that.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Still the air is coming down from the Iceland region

0:01:19 > 0:01:22so not particularly warm but still some dry and bright weather

0:01:22 > 0:01:25to be had. Where it starts quite cold in the west, some spells

0:01:25 > 0:01:27of sunshine here, but further east we're likely to see some

0:01:27 > 0:01:31showers getting going and there is a risk of some hail and sleet.

0:01:31 > 0:01:32But some spells of sunshine further west.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Although in the north-west, we'll see some thicker cloud and some

0:01:35 > 0:01:37outbreaks of rain just fringing in here.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Six degrees in Shetland, 12 degrees in London.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43The average is around about 9 through the middle of the week.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45But the general trend is for those

0:01:45 > 0:01:47temperatures to keep on rising day by day

0:01:47 > 0:01:50so the highest temperature will be coming in just after

0:01:50 > 0:01:53the bank holiday weekend. Those are average temperatures.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55Some will be a bit higher, some a bit lower.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56As you get on into Thursday,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59we've still got high pressure in charge of our weather.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01This weather front will be fairly weak as it drifts its way south

0:02:01 > 0:02:05but it will bring a fair bit of cloud with it and some rain.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06Not a great deal, but some.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09I think the south-east is going to stay driest for longest.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11That is why will see the highest temperatures -

0:02:11 > 0:02:12around about 13 or 14 degrees.

0:02:12 > 0:02:15But not too bad in Glasgow, it is around about 12 degrees.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Then as you head on towards the end of the week, still got high pressure

0:02:18 > 0:02:22in charge, still got a weak weather front drifting its way south.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24Not much rain to be had from that by this stage but still

0:02:24 > 0:02:27a fair bit of cloud, maybe a bit of rain in one or two places but

0:02:27 > 0:02:31a lot of dry, rather cloudy weather towards the end of the week.

0:02:31 > 0:02:3412 degrees in Glasgow is not so bad, 13 or 14 in Cardiff and London.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38Then as we head on into the start of the weekend,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40high pressure is centred over Scandinavia,

0:02:40 > 0:02:43still exerting its influence across the United Kingdom

0:02:43 > 0:02:46bringing a bit of a breeze from the east and that will drag in

0:02:46 > 0:02:49a fair bit of cloud, but not much rain to speak of.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53Around about 14 or 15 degrees in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57Then on into the bank holiday itself,

0:02:57 > 0:02:58question marks about the details.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02One scenario is that high pressure is to the east of UK which means

0:03:02 > 0:03:05the weather systems could well cross our shores bringing some rain

0:03:05 > 0:03:07mainly towards the north and west.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10However, if that high is a little bit further west its influence

0:03:10 > 0:03:11may well just break up those weather fronts

0:03:11 > 0:03:13so there is very little rain to speak of.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15So there are some question marks about that.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17However, after the bank holiday it looks like things

0:03:17 > 0:03:20are going to be quite unsettled in the north-west, drier and brighter

0:03:20 > 0:03:23in the south-east. Generally speaking becoming warmer.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26The question is how warm will it get? It could get very

0:03:26 > 0:03:29warm for some of us, mainly in the south-eastern corner.
