0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, there. It certainly was a cold start to the day on Tuesday,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08with some sunshine for many but showers soon developed quite widely.

0:00:08 > 0:00:09There was rain, some hail, some sleet

0:00:09 > 0:00:11and we even saw quite a bit of snow.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14There was snow in Staffordshire, settling on the roofs,

0:00:14 > 0:00:16the cars and bushes, but not on the roads.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19A little sunshine there, as well.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21There will be another day of showers

0:00:21 > 0:00:24but the focus shifts to central and eastern parts of England.

0:00:24 > 0:00:26Again, there will be some heavy downpours here.

0:00:26 > 0:00:28Many western areas not having such a bad day.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31Moving north into Scotland, there will be a fair bit of cloud here

0:00:31 > 0:00:32and a little bit of rain to go with that

0:00:32 > 0:00:35but I don't think we will see too much in the way of wintry weather.

0:00:35 > 0:00:36A little bit, over the higher grounds,

0:00:36 > 0:00:38but largely dry through the central Lowlands.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41Northern Ireland, sunny spells and a scattering of showers.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43There will be a few showers and northern England

0:00:43 > 0:00:44but some good spells of sunshine as well.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47It's through the Midlands and more eastern parts of England

0:00:47 > 0:00:48that we will see those showers.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50A few rumbles of thunder, some hail mixed in with that rain.

0:00:50 > 0:00:54The further west you go, the showers become fewer and further between.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56So some good spells of sunshine here.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Now, the showers that we do see will fade away through the evening.

0:00:59 > 0:01:03We'll see extra cloud and patchy rain drifting in from the Atlantic.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05That will help to keep temperatures up in Scotland,

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Northern Ireland and northern England, too. Frost-free here.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10But further south, it will turn quite chilly.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Just twos and threes in larger towns and cities and lower than that

0:01:13 > 0:01:14in more rural spots.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17So a touch of frost for some on Thursday morning.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19Thursday itself, though, we have got this weak weather front

0:01:19 > 0:01:21drifting ever southwards on the breeze.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24It is weak because it is close to the centre of high pressure

0:01:24 > 0:01:25just to the west of us.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27After a bright start in the south-east,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29we will see the cloud thickening up

0:01:29 > 0:01:31and maybe a bit of patchy rain later on.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34At the same time it should brighten up in Scotland.

0:01:34 > 0:01:38Temperatures range from about 9C in Aberdeen to around 13 in London.

0:01:38 > 0:01:40The average about 11C in Manchester.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42And if we look at the average temperature,

0:01:42 > 0:01:45from Thursday onwards there is a trend to see something a bit warmer

0:01:45 > 0:01:48but it looks as if the highest temperatures will be coming in

0:01:48 > 0:01:52just after the bank holiday weekend is over.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55But still, it looks like some warmth is on the way.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Now, as you go through Thursday night into Friday,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00we still have these weak weather fronts draped across the UK.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03I think most of the rain will have fizzled out by this stage.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06There will still be one or two showers dotted around

0:02:06 > 0:02:08but a fair bit of cloud, a little bit of sunshine

0:02:08 > 0:02:10but a good deal of dry and fairly bright weather.

0:02:10 > 0:02:15Temperatures around 11 degrees in Glasgow, 13 or 14 in London.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18And then, as we head towards the start of the weekend,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20we have got a weak weather front drifting towards

0:02:20 > 0:02:21the south-west of the UK.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24It will be the focus for some cloud, maybe a spot or two of rain,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26but I think there is a lot of dry,

0:02:26 > 0:02:27bright weather to be had on Saturday.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31Maybe a shower or two in Scotland but most cases will be fine and dry.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33And then we start to see some big question marks developing,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Saturday night into Sunday,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37about the behaviour of this area of low pressure.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40At the moment, it looks like we're picking up the winds

0:02:40 > 0:02:43in the south-west of the UK and we will see the cloud thickening up,

0:02:43 > 0:02:44of rain coming in here.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46So maybe not such a great day here.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48That rain moving a little further north and west at the same time

0:02:48 > 0:02:50so many northern and eastern areas at the moment,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53it looks like you will have a pretty reasonable day.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54Then on to the bank holiday.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Still got that low pressure system drifting northwards,

0:02:57 > 0:02:58we think, at the moment.

0:02:58 > 0:03:02So it may well bring a spell of wind and rain to many parts of the UK.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04However, as you look beyond the bank holiday,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06looks like this area of high pressure

0:03:06 > 0:03:08will be drifting in from the east.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11And that should settle things down eventually.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14It may well start off a bit windy in the north and west of the UK

0:03:14 > 0:03:16but I think that will ease down.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18And then we will see a good deal of sunshine

0:03:18 > 0:03:20coming in with that area of high-pressure.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22And with the sunshine and the winds coming in from the south,

0:03:22 > 0:03:23it is going to get a good deal warmer.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26The big question is just how quickly that transition to something a bit

0:03:26 > 0:03:29warmer is and how high those temperatures are going to go.
