1:24:44 > 1:24:46Hello, there. It was a fairly cold and quite a windy day

1:24:46 > 1:24:47across pretty much all parts of the UK.

1:24:47 > 1:24:49But at least there was some sunshine to be had.

1:24:49 > 1:24:51Here's a photo from one of our weather watchers

1:24:51 > 1:24:54in Neath in South Wales. A lovely picture here.

1:24:54 > 1:24:56But it certainly wasn't like that for all,

1:24:56 > 1:24:58because there were some really angry-looking clouds

1:24:58 > 1:25:00across the Midlands, eastern England,

1:25:00 > 1:25:02delivering some hail, rain, sleet and snow.

1:25:02 > 1:25:03Those fade away.

1:25:03 > 1:25:05It turns really cold, actually,

1:25:05 > 1:25:07first thing in the south on Thursday.

1:25:07 > 1:25:09But it will be a bright start here.

1:25:09 > 1:25:11That won't last too long because cloud and patchy rain

1:25:11 > 1:25:13will be sinking its way ever southwards.

1:25:13 > 1:25:16It should brighten and dry up in Scotland in the afternoon.

1:25:16 > 1:25:18We'll see some sunshine coming through.

1:25:18 > 1:25:20Maybe only nine degrees in Aberdeen, but 12 or 13 in Glasgow.

1:25:20 > 1:25:21That's not too bad.

1:25:21 > 1:25:24A fair bit of cloud in Northern Ireland through the afternoon,

1:25:24 > 1:25:25but very little rain to speak of.

1:25:25 > 1:25:28There will be some rain in northern England, the odd heavier burst,

1:25:28 > 1:25:29but most of it is fairly light.

1:25:29 > 1:25:32And after that bright start in the southern-most counties,

1:25:32 > 1:25:34we'll see that cloud drifting in through the afternoon,

1:25:34 > 1:25:36bringing some light and some patchy rain

1:25:36 > 1:25:37and a similar story across Wales.

1:25:37 > 1:25:39Now, as we get on into the evening,

1:25:39 > 1:25:40there's still some rain to be had.

1:25:40 > 1:25:42The old heavier burst for a time,

1:25:42 > 1:25:45but that edges its way south and then tends to fizzle out.

1:25:45 > 1:25:47And the skies will be clearing across some northern parts of the UK

1:25:47 > 1:25:51and we'll see a touch of frost developing in a few rural locations.

1:25:51 > 1:25:52But major towns and cities

1:25:52 > 1:25:55around about four or five degrees at the lowest.

1:25:55 > 1:25:58So a chilly start to Friday, but a bright one for many.

1:25:58 > 1:26:01There is this weak weather front across Wales and the south-west,

1:26:01 > 1:26:03which is going to be a focal point for some thicker cloud

1:26:03 > 1:26:05and maybe a few spots of rain.

1:26:05 > 1:26:07But I think, in many places, it will be fine and dry.

1:26:07 > 1:26:10A bright start for many, but it will be chilly, as I say.

1:26:10 > 1:26:11A shower or two,

1:26:11 > 1:26:14but most places will be fine and dry with variable cloud,

1:26:14 > 1:26:15some spells of sunshine

1:26:15 > 1:26:17and the winds are not particularly strong, either.

1:26:17 > 1:26:19So, with temperatures getting up to 11, 12 degrees

1:26:19 > 1:26:21for Glasgow and Belfast, it's not so bad.

1:26:21 > 1:26:23The top temperature probably in the south-eastern corner

1:26:23 > 1:26:25at 13 or 14 degrees.

1:26:25 > 1:26:27Then through Friday night and on into Saturday,

1:26:27 > 1:26:30our weak weather front just drifts away towards the south.

1:26:30 > 1:26:32Another weather front is trying to push its way

1:26:32 > 1:26:35into the north-west of the UK, but it won't make too much progress.

1:26:35 > 1:26:37A fairly strong southerly breeze.

1:26:37 > 1:26:41The head of that will just keep that rain away from the Western Isles.

1:26:41 > 1:26:44There'll be a few showers, though, cropping up in Scotland.

1:26:44 > 1:26:46Elsewhere, it's a largely dry picture.

1:26:46 > 1:26:48More of a southerly or south-easterly breeze

1:26:48 > 1:26:50developing as you get on into Sunday.

1:26:50 > 1:26:53And notice a little area of low pressure to the south-west.

1:26:53 > 1:26:56That'll be the focal point for some wetter weather.

1:26:56 > 1:26:58That's drifting its way a little bit further north and west,

1:26:58 > 1:27:00getting into Northern Ireland later on.

1:27:00 > 1:27:01The further north and east you go,

1:27:01 > 1:27:03it should stay essentially fine and dry

1:27:03 > 1:27:06and we could get temperatures as high as maybe 16 or 17 degrees.

1:27:06 > 1:27:08And then, as we head on into bank holiday Monday,

1:27:08 > 1:27:11we've still got that south-easterly breeze across the UK.

1:27:11 > 1:27:14That'll be importing some relatively mild air.

1:27:14 > 1:27:16But we've also got an area of rain.

1:27:16 > 1:27:18That'll be drifting its way a little bit further northwards

1:27:18 > 1:27:22and becoming a little bit lighter and more patchy with time.

1:27:22 > 1:27:25And then, as we head on to beyond the bank holiday weekend,

1:27:25 > 1:27:27there might be some early rain on Tuesday.

1:27:27 > 1:27:29But that will soon be out of the way.

1:27:29 > 1:27:32The main thing about the weather after the bank holiday

1:27:32 > 1:27:34is that high pressure is going to be drifting its way in

1:27:34 > 1:27:38across our shores and that's going to settle things down quite nicely,

1:27:38 > 1:27:40after a fairly unsettled bank holiday weekend.

1:27:40 > 1:27:44Afterwards, just in time, things are settling down, a lot of dry weather,

1:27:44 > 1:27:47the winds are going to be quite light, as well, for most places.

1:27:47 > 1:27:51And for most places, as well, it looks like it will be warming up.

1:27:51 > 1:27:55Let's take a look at that warming trend. And this is for the Midlands.

1:27:55 > 1:27:57We'll see temperatures through the weekend

1:27:57 > 1:27:59around about the middle teens.

1:27:59 > 1:28:01But then there is a trend to see those temperatures

1:28:01 > 1:28:04rising by a few degrees, getting up to 16, 17 degrees

1:28:04 > 1:28:06as we head on into the following weekend.

1:28:06 > 1:28:08In some places, particularly to the south of the Midlands,

1:28:08 > 1:28:10it could go a little bit higher than that.
