0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. As the month of April comes to a close,

0:00:04 > 0:00:06it certainly has been a dry affair.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08On a plus point, it has allowed us

0:00:08 > 0:00:10to get out and enjoy the spring beauty.

0:00:10 > 0:00:14We've seen some fantastic pictures of spring - cherry blossom,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17along with some blue sky and sunshine from time to time.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20Rapeseed in full bloom quite early in the season,

0:00:20 > 0:00:23and I'm sure farmers, gardeners and growers amongst you

0:00:23 > 0:00:26are starting to take a keen interest

0:00:26 > 0:00:27in when are we going to see

0:00:27 > 0:00:29significant rainfall.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Although April hasn't officially

0:00:31 > 0:00:32come to a close

0:00:32 > 0:00:34and we haven't got all the statistics in,

0:00:34 > 0:00:36you can see the darker browns

0:00:36 > 0:00:38denoting that rainfall has been

0:00:38 > 0:00:40below average in many places.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Now, the potential for change here

0:00:42 > 0:00:44is likely in the southwest

0:00:44 > 0:00:47as we could see heavier rain for the start of the bank holiday weekend,

0:00:47 > 0:00:50but for most of us, the weekend looks quite promising.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52A little warmer than recent days,

0:00:52 > 0:00:56chance of some rain, primarily into the southwest during Sunday.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Saturday looks very nice indeed.

0:00:59 > 0:01:00A dry start,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03winds from a southerly direction,

0:01:03 > 0:01:05so feeling milder if you get the sunshine,

0:01:05 > 0:01:08and showers chiefly into Northern Ireland,

0:01:08 > 0:01:09southwest Scotland

0:01:09 > 0:01:11and maybe into the Lake District,

0:01:11 > 0:01:13with highs of 17 Celsius,

0:01:13 > 0:01:1563 Fahrenheit.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Here's that area of low pressure

0:01:17 > 0:01:19pushing into the southwest.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20The winds will increase,

0:01:20 > 0:01:23a noticeably breezier day

0:01:23 > 0:01:25but the rain primarily

0:01:25 > 0:01:28through Cornwall, Devon, Dorset,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29eventually into Wales,

0:01:29 > 0:01:32not arriving in the Midlands till the end of the day,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35and with that south-easterly breeze,

0:01:35 > 0:01:3718 degrees in the southeast.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39We could see a 17

0:01:39 > 0:01:42in sheltered areas of Scotland as well.

0:01:42 > 0:01:44That front grinds to a halt

0:01:44 > 0:01:46as it pushes north and east.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49We're not going to see any significant rain

0:01:49 > 0:01:51in Scotland, so for bank holiday Monday,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53a weak affair, sunny spells

0:01:53 > 0:01:54and scattered showers

0:01:54 > 0:01:56across England and Wales.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Still quite breezy,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00and that'll make it feel chillier,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03highs are likely of 10 to 15 degrees.

0:02:03 > 0:02:05As we move into Tuesday,

0:02:05 > 0:02:09we see a quieter pattern of weather,

0:02:09 > 0:02:13and the winds will fall light yet again,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15so the isobars open up

0:02:15 > 0:02:17and it looks as though we'll see

0:02:17 > 0:02:19a good deal of dry weather in the story,

0:02:19 > 0:02:22and temperatures up as high as 18 degrees.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24This will set a pattern

0:02:24 > 0:02:25for a warming trend

0:02:25 > 0:02:27for the early half of May.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Little change on Wednesday,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32again the isobars widely opened up,

0:02:32 > 0:02:33the winds are light,

0:02:33 > 0:02:37however they are pushing in off the North Sea,

0:02:37 > 0:02:39so on exposed east coasts,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41it'll feel chillier.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Elsewhere, again, a dry, sunny story for many of us.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46One reason is the jet stream.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48It returns back into this

0:02:48 > 0:02:50blocking high-pressure pattern.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52In fact, we could, potentially,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54for early May, see an Omega Block,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56where we've got high pressure centred across the UK

0:02:56 > 0:02:58surrounded by low pressure,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01so the high not really for moving very far very fast,

0:03:01 > 0:03:05and that is going to allow those temperatures to climb on the up

0:03:05 > 0:03:08for the first seven to ten days of May,

0:03:08 > 0:03:11maybe into the low 20s.

0:03:11 > 0:03:12So that is good news,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14but it does come with a caveat.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17With the winds coming in off the cold North Sea

0:03:17 > 0:03:19on exposed east coasts,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22it'll just feel that bit cooler.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Get in some shelter.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Further west, not looking too bad at all.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29That's it. Enjoy your bank holiday weekend

0:03:29 > 0:03:30whatever you're doing.
