0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. We saw a warming trend taking place for the bank holiday weekend.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08Sunday shaped up to be the best day for many of us

0:00:08 > 0:00:09with regards to sunshine,

0:00:09 > 0:00:13though we did see rain in southern and south-western areas,

0:00:13 > 0:00:16very wet conditions into Cornwall and Devon,

0:00:16 > 0:00:18as our Weather Watcher pictures prove,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21but further north, we saw the best of the sunshine, albeit hazy,

0:00:21 > 0:00:22with strong winds.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25For the week ahead, it looks like high pressure

0:00:25 > 0:00:26will be dominating the scene,

0:00:26 > 0:00:28so for many of us, it'll be mostly dry

0:00:28 > 0:00:32but because we'll be picking up an east or north-easterly wind,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35it'll be cooler in the east with a bit of cloud, maybe some showers,

0:00:35 > 0:00:37and we'll always see the highest temperatures

0:00:37 > 0:00:39and the best of the sunshine

0:00:39 > 0:00:41across sheltered western parts.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Back into Monday,

0:00:43 > 0:00:45we've got an area of low pressure.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47This will be primarily affecting

0:00:47 > 0:00:49most of England and Wales.

0:00:49 > 0:00:50We could see persistent rain

0:00:50 > 0:00:53for south Wales and southwest England.

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Elsewhere, it's a mixture of sunshine and showers,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59some of which could be heavy, maybe thundery

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and slow moving.

0:01:01 > 0:01:03For Scotland and Northern Ireland,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06the best of this drier, brighter weather,

0:01:06 > 0:01:08maybe 18 Celsius across the Northwest Highlands,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10even 15 or 16 for northwest England

0:01:10 > 0:01:12and Northern Ireland.

0:01:12 > 0:01:13By Tuesday,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15we see the low pressure

0:01:15 > 0:01:17ebbing away towards the south

0:01:17 > 0:01:18into the near Continent,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21so it looks drier for Tuesday,

0:01:21 > 0:01:22as we pick up an easterly wind

0:01:22 > 0:01:24as high pressure builds in from the north.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26It will feed in cool winds to

0:01:26 > 0:01:28eastern coastal areas as the North Sea

0:01:28 > 0:01:30is quite cool at the moment,

0:01:30 > 0:01:33maybe the odd shower around,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35so the better spells of sunshine

0:01:35 > 0:01:37towards the south and the west,

0:01:37 > 0:01:40again quite warm in places,

0:01:40 > 0:01:41upper teen Celsius.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43As we head into Wednesday,

0:01:43 > 0:01:46the easterly winds pick up in strength

0:01:46 > 0:01:49and bring in cooler air from Scandinavia,

0:01:49 > 0:01:53so it will feel chilly along eastern coastal areas

0:01:53 > 0:01:55and an area of low pressure

0:01:55 > 0:01:57across the near Continent

0:01:57 > 0:01:59will feed more cloud and showers

0:01:59 > 0:02:01towards East Anglia and the southeast.

0:02:01 > 0:02:0310 or 11 Celsius

0:02:03 > 0:02:04on the east coast.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06As you head inland,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08again the best of the sunshine and shelter

0:02:08 > 0:02:10will be further south and west,

0:02:10 > 0:02:14potentially southwest Scotland seeing highs of the temperatures.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Thursday - high pressure dominates the scene

0:02:16 > 0:02:18for much of the UK,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20fairly strong winds,

0:02:20 > 0:02:22so this will feed in a lot of cloud,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25further showers to East Anglia and the southeast.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27It really will feel quite cold for the time of year

0:02:27 > 0:02:31on the coast, but the best of the sunshine will be further west,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34where temperatures will reach 14 or 15 degrees.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36So, day by day, temperatures will be falling

0:02:36 > 0:02:38as we continue to pull in

0:02:38 > 0:02:40cooler air from the northeast.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Friday starts to see signs of stronger winds and rain

0:02:43 > 0:02:45pushing up from the south.

0:02:45 > 0:02:46By next weekend,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48the first weekend of May,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50we'll be seeing of low pressure

0:02:50 > 0:02:52located towards the south of the UK

0:02:52 > 0:02:54and the potential of high pressure

0:02:54 > 0:02:56holding on across the north.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57That means it'll be more unsettled

0:02:57 > 0:02:59across the south,

0:02:59 > 0:03:00more settled in the north,

0:03:00 > 0:03:02close to that area of high pressure,

0:03:02 > 0:03:04with light winds and shelter,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06western Scotland will see

0:03:06 > 0:03:07scenes like this - lots of sunshine

0:03:07 > 0:03:09and feeling fairly warm.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10Further south and east,

0:03:10 > 0:03:12we'll see more grey skies,

0:03:12 > 0:03:14outbreaks of rain

0:03:14 > 0:03:15and it'll feel cooler.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16That wind will be chilly,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18coming in from the east,

0:03:18 > 0:03:19strong at times across the south,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21as we move into the middle part

0:03:21 > 0:03:23of May. The high pressure continues

0:03:23 > 0:03:25to bring fairly dry weather

0:03:25 > 0:03:26to the north, with sunshine,

0:03:26 > 0:03:27but always that risk of rain

0:03:27 > 0:03:30in the south. We'll keep you updated right here.
