0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello. If you're tuning in to this ten-day forecast

0:00:04 > 0:00:06because you are desperately waiting for some rain,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08well, I do have some for you,

0:00:08 > 0:00:10but not until the end of the forecast.

0:00:10 > 0:00:12You have a lot of dry weather

0:00:12 > 0:00:13to sit through first of all.

0:00:13 > 0:00:15The weather front that brought some rain

0:00:15 > 0:00:17in southern areas on Saturday

0:00:17 > 0:00:19is now clearing away, leaving all of us

0:00:19 > 0:00:21with high pressure in charge

0:00:21 > 0:00:22of the scene on Sunday.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24However, we will have a keen northerly wind,

0:00:24 > 0:00:26so that's going to bring some extra cloud

0:00:26 > 0:00:28into northern and eastern Scotland,

0:00:28 > 0:00:30northern and eastern parts of England,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32slightly murky and even drizzly at times.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34The best of the sunshine will be found

0:00:34 > 0:00:36further south and west, so that's where we'll see

0:00:36 > 0:00:37the highest of the temperatures.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39One or two places could get quite close

0:00:39 > 0:00:41to 20 degrees.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Now, Sunday night is another quiet one -

0:00:43 > 0:00:45a lot of dry weather, some clear spells.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47Still some extra cloud feeding in

0:00:47 > 0:00:48on the northerly flow,

0:00:48 > 0:00:50particularly in eastern areas,

0:00:50 > 0:00:51whereas out west,

0:00:51 > 0:00:52where you have some clear spells,

0:00:52 > 0:00:55it could get cold enough for a touch of frost,

0:00:55 > 0:00:57particularly out in the countryside.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59We start the new working week, then,

0:00:59 > 0:01:00on a quiet note.

0:01:00 > 0:01:01High pressure still with us,

0:01:01 > 0:01:03centred up here, to the north-west

0:01:03 > 0:01:05of the British Isles - notice, though,

0:01:05 > 0:01:07the white lines, the isobars,

0:01:07 > 0:01:08fairly tightly squeezed.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11That shows that we'll have a keen north or north-easterly wind,

0:01:11 > 0:01:14making it feel fairly cool for the start of the week,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16but it will still be largely dry.

0:01:16 > 0:01:17This wind, fairly strong,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19and bringing some fairly cool air

0:01:19 > 0:01:21right across the country -

0:01:21 > 0:01:22with it, some fairly large areas of cloud,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24but the best of the sunshine

0:01:24 > 0:01:26will again be found in western areas.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Temperatures, though, across the board,

0:01:28 > 0:01:29a few degrees down -

0:01:29 > 0:01:319 degrees there in Aberdeen,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34perhaps a high of 15 in Plymouth.

0:01:34 > 0:01:35We will lose the strength of the wind, though,

0:01:35 > 0:01:37through Monday night into Tuesday -

0:01:37 > 0:01:38the white lines, the isobars,

0:01:38 > 0:01:40they become more widely spaced,

0:01:40 > 0:01:43so that shows that things will be that bit calmer.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45That might just mean it doesn't feel

0:01:45 > 0:01:47quite as cool on Tuesday.

0:01:47 > 0:01:48There will still be a fair amount of cloud

0:01:48 > 0:01:50into the south-east, best of the sunshine

0:01:50 > 0:01:52up to the north-west.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Temperatures around 11 to 15 degrees.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Now, for the middle part of the week,

0:01:56 > 0:01:58we lose the north-easterly wind completely.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00High pressure sets in right across the top

0:02:00 > 0:02:01of the British Isles.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Could be quite a cold and frosty night for some,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05Tuesday night into Wednesday.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07One weak weather front bringing some extra cloud

0:02:07 > 0:02:09and some patchy rain into northern

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and north-eastern parts of Scotland.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Elsewhere, we'll see some good spells of sunshine.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15Those temperatures, beginning to recover

0:02:15 > 0:02:17a little bit - it will feel

0:02:17 > 0:02:18quite a bit warmer.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19More of the same, really, on Thursday.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21Plenty of dry weather, some sunshine,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23a bit of patchy cloud bubbling up here and there.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Still some extra cloud and some patchy rain

0:02:25 > 0:02:28into the north-east of Scotland, and notice,

0:02:28 > 0:02:30some rain just beginning

0:02:30 > 0:02:32to show its hand close to the south.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33As we head towards the end of the week,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35this is how things look -

0:02:35 > 0:02:36if you are waiting for rain,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38low pressure should really be good news,

0:02:38 > 0:02:40and there is low pressure swarming,

0:02:40 > 0:02:43waiting to pounce, as we get

0:02:43 > 0:02:44towards the end of the week.

0:02:44 > 0:02:45However, what we really need

0:02:45 > 0:02:47to bring areas of low pressure across the country

0:02:47 > 0:02:49is a strong jet stream

0:02:49 > 0:02:50from west to east, and we don't have that.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53The jet stream fairly broken up -

0:02:53 > 0:02:55the main body of it actually down to the south.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57What that means is our areas of low pressure

0:02:57 > 0:02:59will not race across the country -

0:02:59 > 0:03:00instead, this low is going

0:03:00 > 0:03:02to sit out here to the west,

0:03:02 > 0:03:03drawing in a southerly wind.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05We're going to see clumps of moisture,

0:03:05 > 0:03:06clumps of wet weather,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08moving quite erratically

0:03:08 > 0:03:09northwards across the country.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10With that, we're going to draw in

0:03:10 > 0:03:12some fairly warm air,

0:03:12 > 0:03:13so what that means is,

0:03:13 > 0:03:14where we do see the rain,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16it could well be on the heavy side.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18It could even be that we'll see

0:03:18 > 0:03:19some thunderstorms at times

0:03:19 > 0:03:21and, generally speaking,

0:03:21 > 0:03:22it will feel that bit warmer.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25So we do have some rain in our forecast

0:03:25 > 0:03:27for the week ahead, but you are going to have to wait -

0:03:27 > 0:03:29some dry weather to get through first.
