0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. There are plenty of different features
0:00:04 > 0:00:06that can affect our weather.
0:00:06 > 0:00:09Cloud amounts, rainfall, sunshine, wind direction,
0:00:09 > 0:00:10and during the week ahead,
0:00:10 > 0:00:12they are going to jostle for position
0:00:12 > 0:00:15to determine just how the weather looks and feels,
0:00:15 > 0:00:17and the start of the week is going to feel cool,
0:00:17 > 0:00:20because it is this north or north-easterly
0:00:20 > 0:00:22winds that dominate the scene,
0:00:22 > 0:00:24bringing quite a lot of cloud in across eastern areas,
0:00:24 > 0:00:26perhaps the odd spot of drizzle.
0:00:26 > 0:00:27The best of the sunshine
0:00:27 > 0:00:29through Monday will again be out West,
0:00:29 > 0:00:32whereas the east coast will feel decidedly chilly.
0:00:32 > 0:00:34Just 8 or 9 degrees, and even where we get
0:00:34 > 0:00:37that sunshine further west, temperatures will be
0:00:37 > 0:00:39a little down on where they have been.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41As we go through Monday night, the wind
0:00:41 > 0:00:43will become less of a feature because
0:00:43 > 0:00:45the isobars, the white lines on our chart,
0:00:45 > 0:00:47become more widely spaced. They open up,
0:00:47 > 0:00:49so those winds fall light and there will be
0:00:49 > 0:00:50a fair amount of cloud around
0:00:50 > 0:00:52by this stage on Tuesday morning,
0:00:52 > 0:00:54so Tuesday, yes, a fairly cloudy day.
0:00:54 > 0:00:57That cloud could be thick enough to produce the odd spot
0:00:57 > 0:00:59of drizzle, but we'll see
0:00:59 > 0:01:01some sunny breaks here and there.
0:01:01 > 0:01:03Temperatures around 10-16 degrees.
0:01:03 > 0:01:05As we move through Tuesday night into Wednesday,
0:01:05 > 0:01:08high pressure really is the main player
0:01:08 > 0:01:10in our weather story, and as the high sits
0:01:10 > 0:01:12right on top of the British Isles,
0:01:12 > 0:01:14the winds will generally be fairly light.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16We'll lose what's left of that cool
0:01:16 > 0:01:18north-easterly breeze, so many places feeling warmer,
0:01:18 > 0:01:20more in the way of sunshine as well.
0:01:20 > 0:01:22The best of that across England, Wales
0:01:22 > 0:01:23and Northern Ireland. Some patchy cloud
0:01:23 > 0:01:25bubbling up through the day.
0:01:25 > 0:01:26Across Scotland, we will see
0:01:26 > 0:01:28more in the way of cloud, and perhaps
0:01:28 > 0:01:31some patchy rain up towards the far north-east.
0:01:31 > 0:01:33Through Wednesday evening, things could get
0:01:33 > 0:01:35a little chilly because there won't be much wind,
0:01:35 > 0:01:36although those winds will then start
0:01:36 > 0:01:38to strengthen, becoming more of a feature again
0:01:38 > 0:01:40in the south as the isobars begin to move in.
0:01:40 > 0:01:44Perhaps a more significant feature by this stage on Thursday
0:01:44 > 0:01:46will be some showery rain which is likely to move
0:01:46 > 0:01:48erratically into some southern areas.
0:01:48 > 0:01:51Further north, more sunshine.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54Temperatures not doing too badly, 11-19 degrees.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56Through Thursday night into Friday,
0:01:56 > 0:01:57I think it's this low out here
0:01:57 > 0:01:59that's going to become the main feature.
0:01:59 > 0:02:02That'll be driving all of our weather,
0:02:02 > 0:02:04bringing lumps of moisture, lumps of wet weather
0:02:04 > 0:02:07up from the south, and with that, potentially,
0:02:07 > 0:02:09some fairly warm air as well.
0:02:09 > 0:02:11What that means is that when we start to see
0:02:11 > 0:02:14rain, and we will see some rain for the end of the week,
0:02:14 > 0:02:16that rain could be quite heavy because that warm air
0:02:16 > 0:02:19will give some extra energy into the atmosphere.
0:02:19 > 0:02:21So, some heavy downpours on Friday,
0:02:21 > 0:02:22could be some rumbles of thunder,
0:02:22 > 0:02:25some flashes of lightning. Rain will be welcome.
0:02:25 > 0:02:28A bit of uncertainty about just how far north it will get
0:02:28 > 0:02:30across parts of Scotland. For the end of the week,
0:02:30 > 0:02:33these are the different features, the different players
0:02:33 > 0:02:35that may have a part to play.
0:02:35 > 0:02:36Low pressure up here to the West,
0:02:36 > 0:02:38another low out in the Atlantic.
0:02:38 > 0:02:39All the way down here,
0:02:39 > 0:02:42we have an area of high pressure,
0:02:42 > 0:02:43and it is really the jetstream
0:02:43 > 0:02:45that's going to decide which of those
0:02:45 > 0:02:47different features will become the next feature
0:02:47 > 0:02:49to take us to the next weekend and beyond.
0:02:49 > 0:02:52And it looks like the jetstream will start to break through,
0:02:52 > 0:02:55running from West to East, winding up weather systems
0:02:55 > 0:02:57in the Atlantic and driving them towards
0:02:57 > 0:02:59the north-west of the British Isles.
0:02:59 > 0:03:01At the same time, this high pressure
0:03:01 > 0:03:03has its part to play, starting to work
0:03:03 > 0:03:05its way in towards the south-east,
0:03:05 > 0:03:07so through the weekend and then beyond
0:03:07 > 0:03:09into the following week, there will always be
0:03:09 > 0:03:12high pressure close by to the south and the east,
0:03:12 > 0:03:15but areas of low pressure are likely to run across
0:03:15 > 0:03:17northern and western parts of the country.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20With that, a south-westerly wind, not a particularly cold wind.
0:03:20 > 0:03:23So, spells of rain likely as we move further ahead.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25The wettest weather will be in the north-west
0:03:25 > 0:03:27and with that south-westerly wind,
0:03:27 > 0:03:29it will generally feel fairly warm.
