0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello, thanks for joining me.
0:00:05 > 0:00:06Let's see what the weather
0:00:06 > 0:00:07is doing over the next few days.
0:00:07 > 0:00:10Certainly very quiet on the weather front right now.
0:00:10 > 0:00:11Clear blue skies though
0:00:11 > 0:00:13in the last 24 hours across
0:00:13 > 0:00:15many western and northern parts of the UK.
0:00:15 > 0:00:17Here's a picture from Monday, Argyll Bute,
0:00:17 > 0:00:19but look at the difference
0:00:19 > 0:00:21on the North Sea coast there.
0:00:21 > 0:00:22Low, grey skies,
0:00:22 > 0:00:24a wind off the North Sea,
0:00:24 > 0:00:26it really didn't feel pleasant at all.
0:00:26 > 0:00:27This is the satellite picture from Monday,
0:00:27 > 0:00:29and we are going to see this pattern I think
0:00:29 > 0:00:31through the course of Tuesday to an extent,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33so many western areas will
0:00:33 > 0:00:35have the best of the sunshine
0:00:35 > 0:00:37and little or no rain, not just through Tuesday
0:00:37 > 0:00:39but through most of the week.
0:00:39 > 0:00:41There is a change on the way come Friday,
0:00:41 > 0:00:42of course, we'll get to that.
0:00:42 > 0:00:44But let's have a look at the Tuesday forecast,
0:00:44 > 0:00:46best of the sunshine again
0:00:46 > 0:00:48across western areas,
0:00:48 > 0:00:50certainly the Western Isles of Scotland
0:00:50 > 0:00:52doing beautifully through the afternoon,
0:00:52 > 0:00:54same goes for Northern Ireland,
0:00:54 > 0:00:55Belfast there, about 15 degrees,
0:00:55 > 0:01:00probably even nudging up to about 18 degrees.
0:01:00 > 0:01:01Fine weather across most of Wales,
0:01:01 > 0:01:03down into the south-west,
0:01:03 > 0:01:05however, once again, the further east you are,
0:01:05 > 0:01:07the thicker the cloud.
0:01:07 > 0:01:09So across the Midlands, Yorkshire,
0:01:09 > 0:01:11East Anglia and down into the south-east
0:01:11 > 0:01:12looks as though we're going to hang on
0:01:12 > 0:01:14to that thicker cloud.
0:01:14 > 0:01:16But some of that cloud is going to break up
0:01:16 > 0:01:18a little bit through the course
0:01:18 > 0:01:19of Tuesday night into Wednesday,
0:01:19 > 0:01:21and it will be a chilly one,
0:01:21 > 0:01:23so, gardeners be warned,
0:01:23 > 0:01:24First thing on Wednesday,
0:01:24 > 0:01:26a grass frost in some areas,
0:01:26 > 0:01:28in smaller towns and cities,
0:01:28 > 0:01:29temperatures could only be
0:01:29 > 0:01:31two degrees first thing.
0:01:31 > 0:01:33But the sun is very strong in May,
0:01:33 > 0:01:35so those temperatures will be shooting up
0:01:35 > 0:01:37into the mid or high teens
0:01:37 > 0:01:39for some of us on Wednesday.
0:01:39 > 0:01:41But then Wednesday into Thursday
0:01:41 > 0:01:42we are starting to see
0:01:42 > 0:01:44a little change in the atmosphere.
0:01:44 > 0:01:45These low pressures start
0:01:45 > 0:01:48sneaking in, start swinging in from the south-west,
0:01:48 > 0:01:50so that means overall,
0:01:50 > 0:01:52increasing amounts of cloud to the south
0:01:52 > 0:01:54of us and maybe some spots of rain.
0:01:54 > 0:01:56To the north, it still stays dry,
0:01:56 > 0:01:58pretty chilly in the Northern Isles,
0:01:58 > 0:01:59only nine degrees. Come Friday,
0:01:59 > 0:02:01we are expecting a weather front
0:02:01 > 0:02:03to come in from the south, a lot of moisture,
0:02:03 > 0:02:06a lot of warmth, energy with that as well,
0:02:06 > 0:02:09and a potential for some flashes of lightning.
0:02:09 > 0:02:10On Friday, I think,
0:02:10 > 0:02:12be prepared for at least
0:02:12 > 0:02:13a risk of some downpours
0:02:13 > 0:02:15across the south of the country,
0:02:15 > 0:02:17whereas further north, we are
0:02:17 > 0:02:19still going to mostly hang on to
0:02:19 > 0:02:20the dry weather, with temperatures
0:02:20 > 0:02:22still around 16 degrees in Glasgow.
0:02:22 > 0:02:24So after that really dry spell
0:02:24 > 0:02:25we have been having,
0:02:25 > 0:02:27I think our gardens are going to
0:02:27 > 0:02:28get a good watering
0:02:28 > 0:02:30towards the end of the week.
0:02:30 > 0:02:31And whether you like it or not,
0:02:31 > 0:02:33you'll probably see some
0:02:33 > 0:02:34thunder and lightning as well.
0:02:36 > 0:02:37Into Saturday, the weekend
0:02:37 > 0:02:39is looking a little bit mixed.
0:02:39 > 0:02:41We're going to see these low pressures
0:02:41 > 0:02:43swinging out of the south-west.
0:02:43 > 0:02:44This is always a mild direction,
0:02:44 > 0:02:45so one thing you will notice,
0:02:45 > 0:02:47certainly the winds will pick up
0:02:47 > 0:02:48and the rain will arrive,
0:02:48 > 0:02:49but those temperatures
0:02:49 > 0:02:51are going to rise as well.
0:02:51 > 0:02:52And into early next week, this is
0:02:52 > 0:02:53the pattern of the jet stream,
0:02:53 > 0:02:55so there's a dip in the jet stream,
0:02:55 > 0:02:57swinging in from the south-west,
0:02:57 > 0:02:58and basically, what that means is
0:02:58 > 0:03:00that any pressures that form across
0:03:00 > 0:03:02the north Atlantic will be
0:03:02 > 0:03:05riding that jet stream and sending spells
0:03:05 > 0:03:07of rain in our direction.
0:03:07 > 0:03:08But in between the lows,
0:03:08 > 0:03:09there will be some dry weather,
0:03:09 > 0:03:11and again, those low pressures
0:03:11 > 0:03:13are going to be pushing in some warmth.
0:03:13 > 0:03:15So certainly, I don't think
0:03:15 > 0:03:16we're going to be expecting
0:03:16 > 0:03:18a complete write-off as far as
0:03:18 > 0:03:20next week is concerned,
0:03:20 > 0:03:21but it is going to be
0:03:21 > 0:03:23looking on the wet side,
0:03:23 > 0:03:24particularly the north-west of
0:03:24 > 0:03:27the country and also generally warm.
0:03:27 > 0:03:28So a change on the way
0:03:28 > 0:03:30after this dry spell we've had.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36What would a doctor discover... Hello. Come and meet the doctor.
0:03:36 > 0:03:38Hello. .. if they lived with you 24 hours a day?
0:03:38 > 0:03:40SHE SOBS Last week has been a living hell.
0:03:40 > 0:03:42Dr Rangan is back...
0:03:42 > 0:03:44Ooh! ..delivering home truths...
