0:00:02 > 0:00:04Well, let's see if the weather's going to be kind to us

0:00:04 > 0:00:05over the next few days.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08It certainly has been in the last couple of two days.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10Here's Monday's satellite picture.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13Beautiful weather across so many western parts

0:00:13 > 0:00:15of the UK, but stubborn cloud

0:00:15 > 0:00:17and chilly conditions in the east.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19A very similar picture on Tuesday.

0:00:19 > 0:00:21Again, thick cloud further east,

0:00:21 > 0:00:24and beautiful weather across the rest of the UK.

0:00:24 > 0:00:25That area of cloud's shrinking,

0:00:25 > 0:00:30and that means that Wednesday is looking sunny all round, almost.

0:00:30 > 0:00:31There'll be a little bit of rain

0:00:31 > 0:00:33in the far north of the country,

0:00:33 > 0:00:34across Orkney and Shetland,

0:00:34 > 0:00:35maybe some spots of rain

0:00:35 > 0:00:37during the course of Wednesday afternoon.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39But for the rest of the UK,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41it is looking absolutely stunning.

0:00:41 > 0:00:43Let's start with Scotland, though,

0:00:43 > 0:00:44because a big temperature contrast here.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46In Lerwick, only 7 degrees.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Then you get to southern parts of Scotland,

0:00:48 > 0:00:49and we're talking about the mid teens.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51Beautiful weather for Belfast,

0:00:51 > 0:00:54temperatures throughout Yorkshire on Wednesday

0:00:54 > 0:00:56in the mid, possibly the high teens as well.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Similar weather across the south of the UK.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00So all along that south coast,

0:01:00 > 0:01:01that Channel coastline,

0:01:01 > 0:01:05we've got some gloriously sunny weather on the way.

0:01:05 > 0:01:06Very little change

0:01:06 > 0:01:08as we head through Wednesday evening,

0:01:08 > 0:01:10so if you're out in the evening, no rain on the way,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12just a few spots there

0:01:12 > 0:01:13in the very far north of Scotland.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15But look at these blobs here.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17This is the early hours of Thursday.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21We are anticipating the weather to go downhill

0:01:21 > 0:01:23as we head into Thursday.

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Let's have a look at the weather map for Thursday.

0:01:25 > 0:01:29Weather fronts are approaching from the south-west.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31This is an area of low pressure

0:01:31 > 0:01:33across Spain, Portugal and France -

0:01:33 > 0:01:36lots of thunderstorms here, some very humid weather.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37One weather front's going to be

0:01:37 > 0:01:39approaching us later on Thursday.

0:01:39 > 0:01:40In fact, already in the morning

0:01:40 > 0:01:42there could be some showers around

0:01:42 > 0:01:44across southern areas, but on the whole,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Thursday is looking mostly dry across the UK,

0:01:47 > 0:01:50and still some beautiful weather across northern areas.

0:01:50 > 0:01:51Now a different story on Friday.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54We start to see humid, warm, thundery,

0:01:54 > 0:01:57cloudy weather swinging in from the south-west,

0:01:57 > 0:01:58from Iberia, in fact.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01This humidity is going to be with us for a few days.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03In fact, very humid air not just through the weekend,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06but into next week, potentially, as well.

0:02:06 > 0:02:07The temperatures will be rising,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09there'll be a lot of cloud around on Friday,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11I think, throughout the country.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14The possibility of thunderstorms and downpours,

0:02:14 > 0:02:16but to the far north there across Scotland,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18we should probably get away with it.

0:02:18 > 0:02:19It's a bit fresher here -

0:02:19 > 0:02:21around 10 degrees Celsius.

0:02:21 > 0:02:22This is, of course, much-needed rain

0:02:22 > 0:02:24for our gardens,

0:02:24 > 0:02:27but the storms will be hit and miss, so some areas will get a lot of rain

0:02:27 > 0:02:30in a short space of time, maybe even some flash flooding.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33Others won't get anything at all.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35You'll have some sunshine, maybe hazy sunshine.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Then the weekend, we see low pressure

0:02:37 > 0:02:38just to the west of our neighbourhood,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41sending weather fronts and freshening winds

0:02:41 > 0:02:42out of the south-west.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Still quite a mild and muggy flow of air,

0:02:45 > 0:02:47so the weekend is looking pretty changeable.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49There'll be some sunshine around,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52and it's going to be pretty warm as well,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54with those mild south-westerly winds.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55Then early next week,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57if you were watching Weather For The Week Ahead yesterday,

0:02:57 > 0:02:59we looked at the jet stream.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01It's still sending the weather out of the south-west.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Remember, this is a warm source, the warm climes here,

0:03:04 > 0:03:07so we're seeing air pushing from the south-west to the UK.

0:03:07 > 0:03:08So schematically,

0:03:08 > 0:03:10low pressure is probably riding that jet stream,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13maybe bringing some unsettled weather to north-western areas,

0:03:13 > 0:03:17and at the same time, scooping that warmth and that humidity,

0:03:17 > 0:03:18and sending it to the UK.

0:03:18 > 0:03:19Next week, the summary -

0:03:19 > 0:03:21more unsettled, I think.

0:03:21 > 0:03:22Some rain in the north-west

0:03:22 > 0:03:23at times, but not all the time.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25The warmest of the weather

0:03:25 > 0:03:26will be across the south-east.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27That's it from me.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28Thanks for watching.
