0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. It's been dry across large swathes of the United Kingdom
0:00:04 > 0:00:06for quite some time now, and it was
0:00:06 > 0:00:08another dry day for many on Thursday,
0:00:08 > 0:00:10particularly across the northern half of the UK.
0:00:10 > 0:00:11Lovely picture from
0:00:11 > 0:00:13one of our Weather Watchers,
0:00:13 > 0:00:15blue sky in Northumberland, however,
0:00:15 > 0:00:16we are starting to see some changes
0:00:16 > 0:00:17in the southern half of the UK.
0:00:17 > 0:00:20Yes, we have begun to see some rain.
0:00:20 > 0:00:21Now, that rain is moving
0:00:21 > 0:00:23ever northwards on quite
0:00:23 > 0:00:25a warm and fairly humid stream
0:00:25 > 0:00:27of air coming in from the near continent.
0:00:27 > 0:00:28So that humid air will be
0:00:28 > 0:00:30with us for a couple of days,
0:00:30 > 0:00:32particularly across England and Wales.
0:00:32 > 0:00:33So we start on a fairly warm note
0:00:33 > 0:00:35in the southern half of the UK,
0:00:35 > 0:00:37but we're going to see a lot of cloud in the sky
0:00:37 > 0:00:38and there will be some
0:00:38 > 0:00:40showers dotted around,
0:00:40 > 0:00:42some quite heavy, the odd rumble of thunder.
0:00:42 > 0:00:43Eastern Scotland though,
0:00:43 > 0:00:45looks pretty grey and cool.
0:00:45 > 0:00:46Only nine degrees in Aberdeen,
0:00:46 > 0:00:48ten degrees warmer than that
0:00:48 > 0:00:49further west with a bit of sunshine.
0:00:49 > 0:00:50Scattered showers into
0:00:50 > 0:00:52southern Scotland, Northern Ireland
0:00:52 > 0:00:53and across England and Wales.
0:00:53 > 0:00:55There will be a good rash of showers
0:00:55 > 0:00:56around through the afternoon,
0:00:56 > 0:00:58and there could be the odd rumble
0:00:58 > 0:00:59of thunder to go with that.
0:00:59 > 0:01:01Top temperature around about 19, 20 degrees
0:01:01 > 0:01:03in the south-eastern corner
0:01:03 > 0:01:05and a fairly humid feel to things for many.
0:01:05 > 0:01:07Some of the showers in the south-west again
0:01:07 > 0:01:09on the sharp side, but through the evening,
0:01:09 > 0:01:10the showers in the south-east
0:01:10 > 0:01:12look like they tend to fade away.
0:01:12 > 0:01:13We'll keep them going in a north-west,
0:01:13 > 0:01:16and it will be a fairly warm night
0:01:16 > 0:01:17across most places
0:01:17 > 0:01:19with temperatures in double figures,
0:01:19 > 0:01:21it certainly on the mild side it least.
0:01:21 > 0:01:23Now, as we get on into Saturday,
0:01:23 > 0:01:25looks like it'll stay fairly unsettled,
0:01:25 > 0:01:26particularly in the north-west,
0:01:26 > 0:01:28close to this area of low pressure.
0:01:28 > 0:01:29You will notice out in the Atlantic
0:01:29 > 0:01:31further weather systems
0:01:31 > 0:01:32lining up to head our way.
0:01:32 > 0:01:34So yes, in the north-west on Saturday,
0:01:34 > 0:01:35it will be fairly cloudy,
0:01:35 > 0:01:36breezy, with outbreaks of rain.
0:01:36 > 0:01:38As you work your way down
0:01:38 > 0:01:40towards the south-eastern corner,
0:01:40 > 0:01:41fewer in the way of showers.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43A lot of dry and bright weather
0:01:43 > 0:01:45to be had here. A bit of sunshine and still
0:01:45 > 0:01:47quite warm, 18, 19 degrees
0:01:47 > 0:01:48in the south-eastern corner,
0:01:48 > 0:01:5115 or so for Glasgow and for Belfast.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54Now, Saturday night into Sunday,
0:01:54 > 0:01:56this weather system moves its way
0:01:56 > 0:01:57across pretty much all parts of the UK.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59There'll be some rain pretty much everywhere,
0:01:59 > 0:02:01and then, behind that, you get
0:02:01 > 0:02:03fresher air from the Atlantic.
0:02:03 > 0:02:04So while it will be a day of
0:02:04 > 0:02:05sunny spells and showers on Sunday
0:02:05 > 0:02:07and still temperatures doing
0:02:07 > 0:02:08quite well - 15 to 19 degrees -
0:02:08 > 0:02:10the humidity will be a bit lower,
0:02:10 > 0:02:12so a fresher feel to things.
0:02:12 > 0:02:14Then as we head on into Monday,
0:02:14 > 0:02:15still looking out to the Atlantic
0:02:15 > 0:02:17for further weather systems
0:02:17 > 0:02:18to spread their way in,
0:02:18 > 0:02:19notice quite a few isobars,
0:02:19 > 0:02:21quite a breezy day on Monday,
0:02:21 > 0:02:22particularly in the north and west,
0:02:22 > 0:02:24and there will be what looks like,
0:02:24 > 0:02:26at this stage, quite a bit of rain
0:02:26 > 0:02:27pushing into Wales, northern England,
0:02:27 > 0:02:29Northern Ireland and Scotland.
0:02:29 > 0:02:31Looks like the south-east will avoid it and we'll
0:02:31 > 0:02:32see temperatures around
0:02:32 > 0:02:34about 17 or 18 degrees here.
0:02:34 > 0:02:35Then through Monday into Tuesday,
0:02:35 > 0:02:37the isobars ease apart a little bit,
0:02:37 > 0:02:38so the winds ease down as
0:02:38 > 0:02:40the weather front slowly
0:02:40 > 0:02:41drifts south across the UK.
0:02:41 > 0:02:43By Tuesday, that weather front
0:02:43 > 0:02:44sits there or thereabouts
0:02:44 > 0:02:46across the central swathe of the UK.
0:02:46 > 0:02:48Either side of that looks largely fine and dry.
0:02:48 > 0:02:49Could turn really quite warm
0:02:49 > 0:02:50in the south-eastern corner,
0:02:50 > 0:02:53could go a few degrees higher than 22.
0:02:53 > 0:02:54Looking ahead to
0:02:54 > 0:02:55the middle of the week,
0:02:55 > 0:02:57we have still got low pressure
0:02:57 > 0:02:59to the north-west and some weather fronts
0:02:59 > 0:03:01associated with that are likely to bring some rain.
0:03:01 > 0:03:03That will slip its way southwards and eastwards,
0:03:03 > 0:03:05and then the low drifts away
0:03:05 > 0:03:06towards the near continent.
0:03:06 > 0:03:09By next weekend, we start to see high pressure
0:03:09 > 0:03:10building in from the west.
0:03:10 > 0:03:11The resulting winds, though,
0:03:11 > 0:03:13look like they'll be coming down from the north -
0:03:13 > 0:03:15never a particularly warm direction for us.
0:03:15 > 0:03:16As we get on into next weekend,
0:03:16 > 0:03:19you will notice things getting a good deal cooler
0:03:19 > 0:03:21and it also looks quite changeable.
0:03:21 > 0:03:23Rain at times, some quite heavy,
0:03:23 > 0:03:25and it's also going to be quite breezy.
0:03:25 > 0:03:26In fact, for some,
0:03:26 > 0:03:27particularly in the north-west,
0:03:27 > 0:03:29those winds could be quite strong.
