0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. We started the week on a dry note with a good deal of sunshine

0:00:05 > 0:00:08but we ended the week with a good deal of cloud and some

0:00:08 > 0:00:11outbreaks of rain. But it is very welcome rain,

0:00:11 > 0:00:14particularly for the gardeners and the growers.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17Here's the satellite and radar sequence from Friday.

0:00:17 > 0:00:19A lot of cloud swirling around an area of low pressure

0:00:19 > 0:00:21and a little bit of sunshine to be had.

0:00:21 > 0:00:24It's drifting its way northwards and so there's

0:00:24 > 0:00:26going to be some rain to be had across Scotland,

0:00:26 > 0:00:28northwest of England, parts of Ireland

0:00:28 > 0:00:29into Saturday afternoon,

0:00:29 > 0:00:32but reasonable weather the further south and east you go.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34The eastern side of Scotland will be quite grey

0:00:34 > 0:00:37but largely dry. Western and southern parts will see

0:00:37 > 0:00:39some cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41There will be a bit of rain at times

0:00:41 > 0:00:42in Northern Ireland. But across the bulk

0:00:42 > 0:00:44of England and Wales, a scattering of showers

0:00:44 > 0:00:46but a lot of dry and quite bright weather.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Showers are few and far between across

0:00:48 > 0:00:50the southeast and here it'll be bright and breezy,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53some sunshine, 19 or 20 degrees certainly possible.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55The winds will be picking up towards the south

0:00:55 > 0:00:58and west into the afternoon as this weather front arrives.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00That'll be bringing some rain which will spread

0:01:00 > 0:01:02its way from west to east across all parts

0:01:02 > 0:01:03Saturday night into Sunday.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06Shouldn't last too long in any given location

0:01:06 > 0:01:08but it is going to bring some welcome rain with it.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11And there's some fresher air coming in behind that

0:01:11 > 0:01:13and we start Sunday with temperatures around

0:01:13 > 0:01:1410 or 11 degrees.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Now, you might start off a bit wet for some early risers

0:01:17 > 0:01:20along the east coast of Scotland and eastern England but it

0:01:20 > 0:01:23shouldn't take too long for that rain to clear out

0:01:23 > 0:01:25into the North Sea, and then we've got this

0:01:25 > 0:01:28temporary ridge of higher pressure and with that

0:01:28 > 0:01:30we're starting on a decent note for many places

0:01:30 > 0:01:32with sunshine. With the breeze coming in from

0:01:32 > 0:01:34the southwest we will see the cloud building

0:01:34 > 0:01:36and there'll be a scattering of showers developing

0:01:36 > 0:01:38into the afternoon and some showers in the northwest.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41I think there'll be some lengthy dry spells in-between any

0:01:41 > 0:01:43showers away from the northwest.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45Temperatures round about 15 or 16 degrees,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47probably peak at about 19 or 20

0:01:47 > 0:01:50in the southeast once again.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52Then we look out towards the west for this area

0:01:52 > 0:01:54of low pressure to head our way for the start of the week.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Those isobars are tightening up,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59so it's going to be quite windy on Monday

0:01:59 > 0:02:01and there's going to be a fair bit of rain.

0:02:01 > 0:02:04But it will be welcome rain for the gardeners and growers.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Any rain in the southeast should soon clear away and then

0:02:07 > 0:02:10it'll stay pretty cloudy but quite warm.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12Further north and west you've got the wind and rain

0:02:12 > 0:02:14so that'll temper those temperatures but that rain

0:02:14 > 0:02:16should clear away from Northern Ireland.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20As we get into Tuesday, a trailing weather front to be

0:02:20 > 0:02:22draped somewhere across the south of the UK.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24The position is a bit uncertain at this stage.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27At the moment it looks like it will be through the Midlands,

0:02:27 > 0:02:29parts of Wales and the southwest and maybe for a time

0:02:29 > 0:02:31in the southeast. But if it clears away and we get that

0:02:31 > 0:02:34southerly breeze it could get quite warm in that

0:02:34 > 0:02:35south-eastern corner.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37Further north and west it's bright and breezy with maybe

0:02:37 > 0:02:39a few showers coming in on the breeze.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41As we head towards Wednesday,

0:02:41 > 0:02:42we've got low pressure to the north

0:02:42 > 0:02:44of the UK and high pressure to the west.

0:02:44 > 0:02:46This trailing weather front is going to bring some cloud

0:02:46 > 0:02:49and rain to the southern half of the UK.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51Probably that rain easing away as we get on into

0:02:51 > 0:02:53the afternoon but still some showers

0:02:53 > 0:02:56towards the far north and west.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Looking ahead towards the latter part of next week,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01looks like that low to the north of us will drift away towards

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Scandinavia, allowing that high to the west of us to come in,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06getting closer and closer to the UK.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09But the resulting winds are northerly and that's going to

0:03:09 > 0:03:11bring some much cooler air with it and the closer you are to the

0:03:11 > 0:03:14low pressure system up and down that eastern coast,

0:03:14 > 0:03:16you are more likely to see some rain.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19And that setup looks like it'll last into the following weekend,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21so we are developing this east-west split.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23It'll be cooler and there will be some rain around,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26most of that will be in the eastern side but closer to the high and west

0:03:26 > 0:03:28it should be that bit drier.
