0:00:03 > 0:00:05Hello there. The weather has been turning more unsettled

0:00:05 > 0:00:08over the past few days, bring many of us some much-needed rainfall.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11It was a mixed picture on Thursday, certainly. For some parts

0:00:11 > 0:00:14we had some glorious sunshine, a bit of cumulus cloud around too,

0:00:14 > 0:00:17here was the scene in Derbyshire during Thursday afternoon.

0:00:17 > 0:00:20Those cumulus clouds were bigger elsewhere and we did

0:00:20 > 0:00:22see some heavy showers and some thunderstorms.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25In Highland Scotland, for instance, also across parts of

0:00:25 > 0:00:27Northern Ireland. But in the South East, this is the scene in

0:00:27 > 0:00:30Pevensey Bay, East Sussex, we had more cloud,

0:00:30 > 0:00:32more persistent rain that was rolling in during the

0:00:32 > 0:00:35course of Thursday afternoon into the evening.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Now, overnight into Friday, that low pressure is moving its way

0:00:38 > 0:00:41northwards up the east coast, so we're going to be seeing

0:00:41 > 0:00:43outbreaks of rain continuing across parts of eastern England.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46Elsewhere it is a quieter picture, so to start Friday,

0:00:46 > 0:00:49some sunshine for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales

0:00:49 > 0:00:52and western parts of England. After a fresh start there will be

0:00:52 > 0:00:55some showers cropping up here. Now, further east across England,

0:00:55 > 0:00:58low pressure moves its way north, so some patchy rain up the

0:00:58 > 0:01:00east coast towards southeastern parts of Scotland too.

0:01:00 > 0:01:04Quite cool, only 11 or 12 around those east coasts.

0:01:04 > 0:01:07Further west, temperatures around 16 degrees or so.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10So, low pressure not far away, then, as we start the weekend,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13Friday night into Saturday we've still got some weather fronts

0:01:13 > 0:01:15pretty close to the north-east of Scotland and one

0:01:15 > 0:01:18moving into Western Scotland too. So a bit unsettled still across

0:01:18 > 0:01:21northern parts, with some rain, particularly lingering

0:01:21 > 0:01:23across the Northern Isles of Scotland for a time

0:01:23 > 0:01:26on Saturday. Elsewhere across the country, it's a return to

0:01:26 > 0:01:29sunshine and some scattered showers around too.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32Some of those showers could be heavy, potentially some thunder

0:01:32 > 0:01:34mixed in too but they're relatively hit and miss,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37so 18 degrees in the sunshine will feel pleasant in between

0:01:37 > 0:01:40any of those showers. But I think have that brolly on standby

0:01:40 > 0:01:43for Saturday. Into Sunday, higher pressure moves in

0:01:43 > 0:01:46from the south, so low pressure moving away

0:01:46 > 0:01:49and that means during Sunday most of those showers get squeezed away.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Still a chance of the odd shower on Sunday, particularly across

0:01:52 > 0:01:55western parts of the country but I think it, on reflection,

0:01:55 > 0:01:57is going to be the better day of the weekend.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00So, lots of places dry and temperatures round about

0:02:00 > 0:02:0220 degrees or so. Still some slightly fresher air

0:02:02 > 0:02:05holding on in the north but that fresher air gets squeezed away

0:02:05 > 0:02:08late on Sunday and then as we head through into Monday.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11So, for the new working week, we'll start to import some

0:02:11 > 0:02:13slightly warmer air coming in from the south or the south-west

0:02:13 > 0:02:17and that means temperatures will be on the rise on Monday.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Still a chance of getting some rain across north-western parts

0:02:20 > 0:02:23of the country during Monday. For central and southeastern areas,

0:02:23 > 0:02:25though, it's drier, it's brighter and we're likely to see

0:02:25 > 0:02:29those temperatures back at around about 23 degrees.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31Then as we head through into Tuesday, on towards the

0:02:31 > 0:02:34middle part of the week, low pressure tending to

0:02:34 > 0:02:36push away from the north-east of the UK,

0:02:36 > 0:02:39higher pressure building in from the south-west.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43So that's the scenario through the middle part of the week.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45Most of those showers easing away as low pressure

0:02:45 > 0:02:47starts to clear off towards the north-east.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49Higher pressure moving in from the south-west,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51so I think through the middle part of next week,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54we should see a bit of a quieter spell of weather,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57with high pressure starting to move in and take charge.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Some uncertainty, though, later next week about how long

0:03:00 > 0:03:02this area of high pressure is going to be sticking around.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06Low pressure once again waiting out in the wings in the Atlantic.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09So that high pressure potentially not lasting all that long.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Later next week and into next weekend -

0:03:12 > 0:03:15high pressure likely to move away, so once again we'll see

0:03:15 > 0:03:18a turn to more unsettled conditions. There will be some

0:03:18 > 0:03:21wind and some rain likely at times, equally a bit of sunshine

0:03:21 > 0:03:24and temperatures generally near average, although they

0:03:24 > 0:03:27could be chilly at times overnight, particularly in the middle part

0:03:27 > 0:03:29this week. That's all for now, bye-bye.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35The race is on to complete London's most ambitious railway.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38I don't think we've seen anything to this scale and complexity before.

0:03:38 > 0:03:39But with so much left to be done...

0:03:39 > 0:03:42It gets the nerves going, the adrenaline pumping.

0:03:42 > 0:03:43..will they finish in time?
