0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello there. After the dry April and start to May,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08things have been turning much more unsettled over the past week or so.

0:00:08 > 0:00:10We've had some heavy downpours,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12thundery showers and more persistent rain.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15Here's a scene from Friday in Buckinghamshire.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18You can see the extent of the dark cloud there and heavy

0:00:18 > 0:00:21rain. We also had hail and some thunderstorms as well as more

0:00:21 > 0:00:24persistent rain in the east courtesy of this area of low pressure.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27Now, that's tracking its way northwards as we head through

0:00:27 > 0:00:30the course of Saturday, sitting across the north-east

0:00:30 > 0:00:33of Scotland, and it will bring more persistent rain here.

0:00:33 > 0:00:36But elsewhere through the course of the weekend, Saturday is a day of

0:00:36 > 0:00:40heavy showers and a bit of sunshine in-between those showers, too.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42And then Sunday, the second half of the weekend,

0:00:42 > 0:00:45looks a bit drier as the showers tend to fade away for most of

0:00:45 > 0:00:48us, and things will turn a little bit warmer, too.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51So let's put some detail on the weekend's forecast, then.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Through Saturday, we've still got cloud and outbreaks of rain across

0:00:54 > 0:00:56north-eastern Scotland in particular.

0:00:56 > 0:00:59Elsewhere across the country, it's sunshine and showers.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Now, the showers bubbling up, particularly during the afternoon.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04They'll be hit and miss, almost anywhere,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07particularly heavy across parts of Wales into southern England,

0:01:07 > 0:01:09too, some thunderstorms likely.

0:01:09 > 0:01:1218 degrees in the sunshine in-between any of those showers,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14so don't write the day off completely,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16but we will see a few heavy downpours at times.

0:01:16 > 0:01:18And then through to Sunday, then,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21we'll start to see this area of high pressure around the near

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Continent pushing its way in across the UK.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Now, that higher pressure will squeeze away most of the showers.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28We could still catch a little bit of rain across the far

0:01:28 > 0:01:31north-west of the UK, but for much of the country

0:01:31 > 0:01:34it's going to be a dry day with fairly light winds, too, so in

0:01:34 > 0:01:37the sunshine it's going to feel pleasantly warm, I think,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39with temperatures up to round about 20 degrees or so

0:01:39 > 0:01:41at best towards the south-east.

0:01:41 > 0:01:46A little fresher across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Now, looking into the new working week, for Monday we see an area

0:01:49 > 0:01:51of low pressure sitting out towards the north-west.

0:01:51 > 0:01:54Now, that's trying to push in, but it's bumping into the high

0:01:54 > 0:01:57pressure sitting now towards the east of the UK.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Now, that means on Monday we will see some showery rain,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03particularly in the west, as that low pressure moves in,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05so some showers, blustery at times here.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08The further towards the south-east you go, you're more likely to stay

0:02:08 > 0:02:11dry and bright on Monday, and it is a little bit warmer, too,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14with highs up to round about 22 degrees.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17For Tuesday, we've still got an area of low pressure sitting to

0:02:17 > 0:02:21the north of the UK, but actually, for many places not a bad day,

0:02:21 > 0:02:24a westerly breeze and temperatures pretty much average for the

0:02:24 > 0:02:27time of year, round about 15 to 20 degrees or so

0:02:27 > 0:02:29with some sunshine, so not a bad day.

0:02:29 > 0:02:32Pressure starting to build from the south in towards the middle

0:02:32 > 0:02:34of the week. So, this is Wednesday and on into Thursday.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36You can see this area of high pressure.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39Now, that becomes the driving force of our weather, I think,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41through the middle part of the week,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43but low pressure trying to topple around that at times, too.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46So it won't be dry everywhere through the middle part of

0:02:46 > 0:02:49next week, but we are seeing this high pressure initially

0:02:49 > 0:02:50towards the south-west

0:02:50 > 0:02:54starting to push in across the UK through the middle part of the week.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Low pressure again affecting northern areas,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59but as we head towards the latter half of next week,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01high pressure does look like it becomes established across

0:03:01 > 0:03:05much of the country. You can see the next area of low pressure likely

0:03:05 > 0:03:07to be trying to move in, so there could well be

0:03:07 > 0:03:11a breakdown in that high pressure late next week and into the weekend.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13But in general, the most likely scenario

0:03:13 > 0:03:17is that that high pressure holds on into next weekend, so a lot of dry,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19settled weather. Could be quite warm at times,

0:03:19 > 0:03:23but cooler conditions with some showers around the east coast

0:03:23 > 0:03:26as we draw in the breeze here coming in from the North Sea.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29That's it for now. We'll update you again tomorrow. Bye-bye.

0:03:33 > 0:03:34Please, God...

0:03:34 > 0:03:36Not this time.
