0:00:02 > 0:00:04Nature has certainly been doing its bit to try and readdress the

0:00:04 > 0:00:08lack of rainfall we've seen so far this spring across parts of the UK.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11It's been thoroughly wet for some over the past few days,

0:00:11 > 0:00:13but over the days ahead, we'll probably see fewer scenes

0:00:13 > 0:00:17like this one, that was captured on Saturday afternoon in Bearsden,

0:00:17 > 0:00:21just north of Glasgow, and a few more like this one in Cornwall.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25Sunny skies and slightly drier as well.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28Now, a dry prospect for many, in fact, on Sunday.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31We've got high pressure a little bit closer by on Sunday

0:00:31 > 0:00:32to the south and east of the country.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Still low pressure out there in the Atlantic and that will

0:00:34 > 0:00:37extend a bit of an influence across Northern Ireland first thing.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Cloud, a bit of patchy rain, and that will spread into western parts

0:00:40 > 0:00:43of Scotland after a bright start through the afternoon.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45But other than that and one or two showers

0:00:45 > 0:00:47brewing up here and there across Northern Ireland,

0:00:47 > 0:00:49eastern Scotland, northern England and North Wales,

0:00:49 > 0:00:51these will be few in number, lighter than the showers

0:00:51 > 0:00:54we've seen through Saturday and, really, for many,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56it will be a dry Sunday and what you'll also notice

0:00:56 > 0:00:58is it'll feel a bit warmer out there as well.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Temperatures for all of us up on what we saw,

0:01:00 > 0:01:04maybe up to 20 or 21 Celsius towards the south-east corner.

0:01:04 > 0:01:05So, that's how we finish Sunday,

0:01:05 > 0:01:07low pressure staying to the west of us.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10But we will see some more in the way of rain spreading to Ireland,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12western parts of Scotland, as we go into Monday,

0:01:12 > 0:01:13as these weather fronts scrape by,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16so there will be some wetter prospects on the way.

0:01:16 > 0:01:17But, to the south and east of that,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19Monday is actually looking a pretty decent day,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22with, again, some long spells of sunshine,

0:01:22 > 0:01:24just a gentle breeze across eastern areas,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27so, after morning mist and fog, it will feel pretty pleasant.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Temperatures will climb more. We could even see them hit the mid-20s

0:01:30 > 0:01:32across some parts of the south-east.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35Onshore flow in eastern Scotland will keep things cool here

0:01:35 > 0:01:37and the cloud and maybe occasional rain west of Scotland

0:01:37 > 0:01:40and Northern Ireland will knock down the temperature just a little bit.

0:01:40 > 0:01:42But the low pressure is off into Iceland by the time

0:01:42 > 0:01:45we get to Tuesday. A ridge of high pressure building in,

0:01:45 > 0:01:47and the winds going in to more westerly directions.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51So eastern areas will start to feel probably the warmest overall.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53In the west, we will see a little bit of cloud at times

0:01:53 > 0:01:55around the hills and the coast.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57The odd spot of light rain and drizzle can't be ruled out.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59For the vast majority, it's another dry day,

0:01:59 > 0:02:03and temperatures above where they should be for the time of year.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06This weather front will extend a bit more cloud as we go through

0:02:06 > 0:02:07the night and into Wednesday,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10just enhancing some of the drizzle over the hills,

0:02:10 > 0:02:12but even with that, most will stay dry.

0:02:12 > 0:02:13Probably the dampest conditions

0:02:13 > 0:02:16will be the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Most will have good sunny spells breaking through the morning cloud,

0:02:19 > 0:02:21especially to the east of high ground.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23A bit of shelter from that westerly breeze.

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Temperatures, once again, well above 20 Celsius.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28Then high pressure starts to balloon

0:02:28 > 0:02:31as we go into the second stage of the week. And, with high pressure

0:02:31 > 0:02:33in charge, more of you will be dry.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Difficult at this stage to judge exact amounts of cloud but

0:02:37 > 0:02:39there should be some good sunny breaks, especially with the sun

0:02:39 > 0:02:41as strong as it is at this time of year.

0:02:41 > 0:02:43If we see a shower or two, it will be very isolated.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45It'll be set off as we see temperatures climb

0:02:45 > 0:02:47into the 20s once again.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49And still reasonably warm across some of these eastern districts,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52after a rather cool past few weeks.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55So we finish with high pressure in charge across the UK.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Into next weekend and the start of the following week,

0:02:57 > 0:03:01the high pressure nudges a little bit northwards and eastwards

0:03:01 > 0:03:02and that does mean low pressure

0:03:02 > 0:03:04could come close by towards the south-west,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06so there is the chance of a few showers or storms,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09very close to south-western areas but only a small chance.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11With that sort of flow coming off of continental Europe,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14we could be dragging ever warmer weather our way.

0:03:14 > 0:03:15So, as we go into next weekend,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17most places not only dry, but increasingly warm.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Widely, temperatures into the 20s, the mid-20s,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23but as we finish the weekend, going to the start of the following week,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27we may just see an onshore breeze, for those North Sea coasts,

0:03:27 > 0:03:29turning things that little bit cooler. Take care.
