0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. We've still got some uncertainty in the outlook

0:00:04 > 0:00:06but in the run-up to the bank holiday weekend

0:00:06 > 0:00:10it's all about the heat building and temperatures rising.

0:00:10 > 0:00:13We're getting high pressure moving over the UK right now

0:00:13 > 0:00:16so it's keeping just about everywhere fine and dry.

0:00:16 > 0:00:19The centre of the high pressure will drift away towards the east

0:00:19 > 0:00:21into the near Continent, allowing us to pick up

0:00:21 > 0:00:24this continental air ahead of a weather front here,

0:00:24 > 0:00:27and it's that continental air that will bring more sunshine

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and higher temperatures by the end of the week.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31Mind you, it's going to be quite warm on Wednesday.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34Areas that start sunny will see some cloud developing,

0:00:34 > 0:00:37areas that start with cloud will see some sunshine developing.

0:00:37 > 0:00:40And but for one or two showers in Scotland in the afternoon,

0:00:40 > 0:00:41the afternoon should be fine and dry.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44And even though there will be quite a bit of cloud around,

0:00:44 > 0:00:48it's quite warm air, so temperatures widely into the low 20s,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51perhaps a few degrees higher than that towards the south-east.

0:00:51 > 0:00:55That cloud continues to break up, though, as we head into the evening.

0:00:55 > 0:00:57Clear skies developing fairly widely overnight,

0:00:57 > 0:00:59more cloud towards the north-west of Scotland,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and maybe some misty patches of low cloud

0:01:01 > 0:01:03across central parts of England.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06But quite a warm night after the warmth of the day -

0:01:06 > 0:01:1016, 17 degrees Cardiff and London overnight.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12So there's our area of high pressure,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14right over the UK on Thursday,

0:01:14 > 0:01:17beginning to drift away towards the east,

0:01:17 > 0:01:18but keeping it fine and dry.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22So the story, really, for Thursday is more sunshine.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25The air continuing to descend, breaking up the cloud.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28We won't see much development of cloud through the day.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31Some patches of cloud developing, but not as much.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34So some spells of sunshine, not much of a breeze at all,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37and temperatures getting up to 23 degrees in Glasgow,

0:01:37 > 0:01:4025, 26, possibly higher than that in the south-east of England.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44And then on Friday, that warmth continues to push its way northwards

0:01:44 > 0:01:47into Northern Ireland, up into Scotland as well.

0:01:47 > 0:01:49Widely temperatures into the mid-teens.

0:01:49 > 0:01:52The wind starts to pick up through the Channel

0:01:52 > 0:01:55and across Northern Ireland as well. That's because the high's centre

0:01:55 > 0:01:57is getting pulled away to the near Continent.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00And approaching from the west, we've got these weather fronts

0:02:00 > 0:02:03and an area of low pressure on that weather front as well,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06so perhaps starting to see some changes into Northern Ireland,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Wales and the south-west. A threat of some thundery showers.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12But ahead of it, this warm and quite muggy air

0:02:12 > 0:02:16with temperatures not far away from 30 degrees once again.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20Over the course of Saturday night and into Sunday,

0:02:20 > 0:02:24that low pressure takes the heavy rain up towards Scotland,

0:02:24 > 0:02:26clears through England and Wales

0:02:26 > 0:02:29and we're left with some sunshine around

0:02:29 > 0:02:31but also some showers too.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33Slightly fresher air in the west,

0:02:33 > 0:02:36but still some warmth across the eastern side of England.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38So far, so good.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Things then start to get complicated,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42because some computer models

0:02:42 > 0:02:46want to draw in these showers that are not far away from the UK,

0:02:46 > 0:02:49push them northwards together with some warm air,

0:02:49 > 0:02:51and the potential for some thunderstorms.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55Other computer models push those showers away more quickly

0:02:55 > 0:02:58and build this area of high pressure in from the Atlantic.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01That will tend to move in across the UK.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03We've got weather systems,

0:03:03 > 0:03:05an area of low pressure brushing the north-west

0:03:05 > 0:03:07as we head further into next week,

0:03:07 > 0:03:11but for the most part, it looks like it should be turning drier

0:03:11 > 0:03:14after the potential for some heavy and thundery showers.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17It'll also turn a bit cooler and fresher,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19but the question is, and the uncertainty is,

0:03:19 > 0:03:22how quickly is all this change going to come about?

0:03:22 > 0:03:25At the moment, computer models don't particularly agree.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29We're hoping for some sort of consensus over the next few days.
