0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello. With a bank holiday imminent and for many next week's half-term,

0:00:05 > 0:00:07please don't make this the last forecast you see,

0:00:07 > 0:00:10because the details will differ a little from day to day,

0:00:10 > 0:00:12with a thundery breakdown on its way.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15No surprise, because we've had the heat on Thursday,

0:00:15 > 0:00:19temperatures got into the '80s Fahrenheit quite widely.

0:00:19 > 0:00:23We saw temperatures in the high 20s, and Friday will be no different.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25We start with a little bit of sea fog and some mist

0:00:25 > 0:00:27but it takes no time at all to clear,

0:00:27 > 0:00:29and then it's basically a repeat performance,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31although we will see somewhat cloudier skies

0:00:31 > 0:00:34coming in towards the west of Ireland later on.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37But again, 25 to 29 is on the cards.

0:00:37 > 0:00:41It will be a very hot day indeed for many, except on windward coast,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44but even here, UV levels will be high,

0:00:44 > 0:00:48and unusually, very high levels of UV are forecast again on Friday

0:00:48 > 0:00:50in southern areas.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53Then we start to see that change.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55Now, the detail will be quite difficult

0:00:55 > 0:00:57with this thundery breakdown, as it always is,

0:00:57 > 0:01:00but it looks as though we'll see those thundery showers

0:01:00 > 0:01:02coming in to the South-West and Northern Ireland,

0:01:02 > 0:01:04so a really quite uncomfortable night,

0:01:04 > 0:01:07because obviously the humidity will be a lot higher once again

0:01:07 > 0:01:08with all those showers falling.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11So yes, it is a hot and humid start to our bank holiday weekend,

0:01:11 > 0:01:14but that thundery breakdown will occur gradually,

0:01:14 > 0:01:16different areas, if you like, at different times,

0:01:16 > 0:01:18before it finally freshens up.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21So for Saturday, it looks as if we'll start with the showers

0:01:21 > 0:01:23running across parts of England and Wales

0:01:23 > 0:01:27but perhaps stagnating a little more across parts of Northern Ireland

0:01:27 > 0:01:28and then Western Scotland,

0:01:28 > 0:01:31so it really could be quite a wet day in these areas.

0:01:31 > 0:01:33Some quite severe thunderstorms are forecast,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35but ahead of it there'll be some very nice weather, and behind it,

0:01:35 > 0:01:39as it freshens up, as well, some decent sunshine will come through.

0:01:39 > 0:01:42So it's not a wash-out, although it doesn't look particularly pleasant

0:01:42 > 0:01:43for much of the day in Northern Ireland

0:01:43 > 0:01:46and western and southern Scotland. It's still hot,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49we've still got some humidity around to break down. So those storms

0:01:49 > 0:01:52will continue to rumble on through Friday night into Saturday

0:01:52 > 0:01:54before pulling away. High pressure starts to build then

0:01:54 > 0:01:58but we've got this next area of low pressure coming in to the south,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00so it could be that we see a second thundery breakdown,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03this time more likely across the southern

0:02:03 > 0:02:04and eastern part of the country.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07Later in the day on Sunday and into Sunday night

0:02:07 > 0:02:09it looks very thundery indeed, at the moment.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Of course, by that stage, it's freshened in the north

0:02:12 > 0:02:15and it's a slow improving picture as high pressure takes over,

0:02:15 > 0:02:17but not in the south. This is Sunday night and into Monday.

0:02:17 > 0:02:18It looks like we could have

0:02:18 > 0:02:21some really torrential downpours once again,

0:02:21 > 0:02:24some large rainfall coming down from those intense storms.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26And they will take a while to clear away.

0:02:26 > 0:02:30Still a lot of heat and humidity left around, even into Monday.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32These temperatures are probably quite conservative,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35we may see a few degrees higher than that, actually,

0:02:35 > 0:02:37where the sun comes out for a long time. And it should do,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40with high pressure around across many areas.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41Still, though, that weather front with us

0:02:41 > 0:02:44across the eastern side of the country even into Tuesday

0:02:44 > 0:02:48before we finally start to see that thundery weather clearing

0:02:48 > 0:02:51out of the way, and then we will see a few scattered showers elsewhere,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54and temperatures back down closer to normal.

0:02:54 > 0:02:55I think for most of the week

0:02:55 > 0:02:58they will stay above where they should be for this time of year,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01so more strong sunshine coming through.

0:03:01 > 0:03:03And with high pressure building from the midweek onward

0:03:03 > 0:03:07it looks set fair. It won't be as hot as it's been this week,

0:03:07 > 0:03:10but pleasant enough, until late in the week.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12And this is where we think we'll get back to

0:03:12 > 0:03:15a more mobile weather pattern as we head towards next weekend,

0:03:15 > 0:03:16when the low pressures

0:03:16 > 0:03:19start to usher in weather fronts from the Atlantic.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21That's when we'll see rain at times,

0:03:21 > 0:03:25but initially, midweek it will become settled and quite warm again,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27but there's that thundery breakdown before then.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30And as ever, you can get more on the website.
