0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello, there. It's almost as if the weather knows

0:00:04 > 0:00:06it's a bank holiday weekend upon us,

0:00:06 > 0:00:08because the devil is the detail this weekend.

0:00:08 > 0:00:12We're into the breakdown of the heat. The heat peaked on Friday.

0:00:12 > 0:00:16The highest temperatures of the year so far - 29 degrees,

0:00:16 > 0:00:19not far short of 30, at Lossiemouth -

0:00:19 > 0:00:22but that'll be the hottest I think we'll see

0:00:22 > 0:00:23during this spell.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25Still some heat around on Saturday,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27still some thundery showers making their way eastwards

0:00:27 > 0:00:29across England and Wales through the morning hours,

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and some of them with thunder and lightning.

0:00:31 > 0:00:32Wetter weather, potentially,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34for Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland -

0:00:34 > 0:00:36and then, when you add the fact

0:00:36 > 0:00:39that we've still got that heat and humidity around, with us,

0:00:39 > 0:00:41we will have some lively downpours into the afternoon.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45From the Midlands northwards, torrential thunderstorms

0:00:45 > 0:00:47with large hail and some flash flooding, potentially.

0:00:47 > 0:00:48Sea fog in the North.

0:00:48 > 0:00:51Not that many showers in the South, come the afternoon.

0:00:51 > 0:00:53It will feel cool around the coast.

0:00:53 > 0:00:54We could get 28 degrees,

0:00:54 > 0:00:56so, not far short of what we had on Friday,

0:00:56 > 0:00:59but the heat is starting to diminish,

0:00:59 > 0:01:01and it will gradually - or, we will gradually -

0:01:01 > 0:01:03see those thunderstorms petering out through Sunday night.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06We keep some rain going, and temperatures are still high,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09but not as oppressive as it has been,

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and not as oppressive, I think, as it has been this week.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14So, that area of low pressure responsible

0:01:14 > 0:01:16for that first spell of thundery rain

0:01:16 > 0:01:18moving out of the way during Sunday.

0:01:18 > 0:01:20High pressure builds in behind it for a time,

0:01:20 > 0:01:22so, not a bad day, really.

0:01:22 > 0:01:23There'll be more cloud around,

0:01:23 > 0:01:25it will feel a little cooler and fresher in the north.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28We'll still have the heat in the South, and the humidity,

0:01:28 > 0:01:30so, we'll start to see some home-grown thunderstorms here,

0:01:30 > 0:01:31and then, later in the day,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34we could potentially start to drag some more thundery rain

0:01:34 > 0:01:37across from France, across the Channel, and northwards.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40It looks as if it will be across the southern half of the country,

0:01:40 > 0:01:42but there is some uncertainty

0:01:42 > 0:01:46as to how far north that thundery rain will travel.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Some of the models do push it right the way up into northern Scotland.

0:01:49 > 0:01:51So, at this stage, there are warnings out.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53We will tweak those, of course, with time.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55It does look as if we'll get off to a thundery start.

0:01:55 > 0:01:56Thundery night,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59some thundery weather around, still, on bank holiday Monday,

0:01:59 > 0:02:01a lot of heat and humidity,

0:02:01 > 0:02:02a little bit fresher further northwards,

0:02:02 > 0:02:05but, of course, that could extend its influence further north.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07Come Tuesday, it should have moved out the way,

0:02:07 > 0:02:10and then we're under the influence of Atlantic weather fronts.

0:02:10 > 0:02:11So, we've changed the wind direction.

0:02:11 > 0:02:14It does freshen up even further south and east by that stage -

0:02:14 > 0:02:16it will still be warm, in the sunshine,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18and there still will be some sunshine,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20because high-pressure follows that weather front on Tuesday,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23and that high pressure's with us through the middle part of the week.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25It's keeping the weather fronts at bay,

0:02:25 > 0:02:28it's allowing the temperatures to rise and the sun shine again.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30Not the humidity that we've had this week,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32but, nevertheless, some strong sunshine,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34and feeling very pleasant

0:02:34 > 0:02:36if you are in that sunshine out and about.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Of course, it's half term for many,

0:02:38 > 0:02:39so, some very usable whether

0:02:39 > 0:02:43through the course of Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, as well.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45So, the early part of the week is seeing that high-pressure

0:02:45 > 0:02:48starting to take hold once again,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50keeping those low pressures at bay out in the Atlantic -

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and there's a little bit of a southerly breeze with it,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54so, we will see things warming up,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56but it's definitely fresher than it has been.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58However, as we progress through the latter part of the week,

0:02:58 > 0:03:00head towards next weekend,

0:03:00 > 0:03:01we'll start to see that high-pressure

0:03:01 > 0:03:04just drifting a little bit further southwards, towards the continent -

0:03:04 > 0:03:06always keeping an influence across southern areas,

0:03:06 > 0:03:10but allowing low pressures to bring in bands of windier weather,

0:03:10 > 0:03:11wetter weather,

0:03:11 > 0:03:14but probably not that much rain in southern and eastern areas.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Just because that high-pressure is so close by,

0:03:16 > 0:03:18it will mean that those weather fronts tend to weaken

0:03:18 > 0:03:20as they progress further southwards and eastwards.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23Nevertheless, it does look more unsettled by that stage,

0:03:23 > 0:03:26by the end of next week, and it will start to feel fresher -

0:03:26 > 0:03:28but the detail for the weather for the weekend,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30there's more on the website.
