0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello, there. We saw a gradual cooling down process
0:00:04 > 0:00:05during the bank holiday weekend
0:00:05 > 0:00:08with a series of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
0:00:08 > 0:00:12During Sunday night, we saw some spectacular thunderstorms
0:00:12 > 0:00:14across the far south-east of England
0:00:14 > 0:00:17as violent storms developed across northern France.
0:00:17 > 0:00:21All these Weather Watcher pictures came from Sussex and Kent.
0:00:21 > 0:00:24It left a pretty dreary day for bank holiday Monday,
0:00:24 > 0:00:27outbreaks of rain, grey skies for most.
0:00:27 > 0:00:30But there were a few holes in that cloud to allow some brief
0:00:30 > 0:00:34spells of sunshine, like this photograph from Westerham in Kent.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37Now, that weather front bringing all the dreary weather on bank holiday
0:00:37 > 0:00:41Monday moves off into the continent and then we look to the west at this
0:00:41 > 0:00:44next weather front moving in off the Atlantic for Tuesday.
0:00:44 > 0:00:47Many places starting off dry, a little bit of sunshine around,
0:00:47 > 0:00:48one or two showers.
0:00:48 > 0:00:51This weather front will move across Northern Ireland quite quickly
0:00:51 > 0:00:53through the morning, skies brightening up, here.
0:00:53 > 0:00:56Eventually, clearing Northern Ireland and into Scotland.
0:00:56 > 0:00:59But as it pushes into England and Wales,
0:00:59 > 0:01:02it will leave a legacy of cloud as it begins to fizzle out.
0:01:02 > 0:01:04So a few showers through central areas.
0:01:04 > 0:01:06Again, quite warm in the south-east given some sunshine,
0:01:06 > 0:01:09plenty of sunshine across Scotland and Northern Ireland,
0:01:09 > 0:01:10just one or two showers.
0:01:10 > 0:01:13Bit of a windy end to the day as that area of low pressure moves
0:01:13 > 0:01:15away, and then looking to the south,
0:01:15 > 0:01:18this area of high pressure builds in during the middle part of the week.
0:01:18 > 0:01:20So, actually, a fine middle part of the week,
0:01:20 > 0:01:23Wednesday and Thursday, for many, mainly dry.
0:01:23 > 0:01:27Some good spells of sunshine and turning warmer as well.
0:01:27 > 0:01:28So this is the picture for Wednesday.
0:01:28 > 0:01:32As you can see, under the influence of high pressure, light winds,
0:01:32 > 0:01:36good sunny spells across the UK and turning quite warm once again,
0:01:36 > 0:01:41temperatures 19 to maybe 23 or 24 degrees in the south-east.
0:01:41 > 0:01:43High pressure still with us on into Thursday.
0:01:43 > 0:01:46But we are looking at this area of low pressure which is slowly
0:01:46 > 0:01:48making inroads and the weather front will eventually reach
0:01:48 > 0:01:52Northern Ireland and Western Scotland later in the day.
0:01:52 > 0:01:53But it will be a slow process,
0:01:53 > 0:01:56it looks like Thursday for most will be another fine, dry one,
0:01:56 > 0:01:59southerly winds so even warmer across central, southern and eastern
0:01:59 > 0:02:03areas, we could be looking at mid-20s Celsius but gradually
0:02:03 > 0:02:06turning wet and windy for Northern Ireland and for Scotland.
0:02:06 > 0:02:08This weather feature, a bit of a complex feature,
0:02:08 > 0:02:11continues to make inroads through the course of Friday
0:02:11 > 0:02:14but it will be bumping into some pretty warm and humid air
0:02:14 > 0:02:16across southern and eastern areas,
0:02:16 > 0:02:19so it is possible some of this rain could pep up to be quite heavy,
0:02:19 > 0:02:21maybe thundery through central,
0:02:21 > 0:02:26southern and eastern areas as it moves ever eastwards during Friday.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28Now, it clears away during the course of Saturday,
0:02:28 > 0:02:31and what we will see is a run of westerly winds again with an
0:02:31 > 0:02:34area of high pressure starting to build across the south.
0:02:34 > 0:02:37So I think Saturday is looking a bit better, brighter,
0:02:37 > 0:02:40we should see some good spells of sunshine, quite breezy, though.
0:02:40 > 0:02:42Again, a fairly fresh feel to things
0:02:42 > 0:02:44across northern and western areas.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47Warm across the south-east.
0:02:47 > 0:02:49As we head through the weekend,
0:02:49 > 0:02:52this area of high pressure becomes established across the continent and
0:02:52 > 0:02:56that will attract weather systems to the north and west of the UK.
0:02:56 > 0:02:57It is possible on Sunday,
0:02:57 > 0:03:00we could see a spell of wet and windy weather for a time,
0:03:00 > 0:03:05but early next week, we think this is the set-up that will remain for
0:03:05 > 0:03:06the first few days, where we will
0:03:06 > 0:03:09see high-pressure within the continent
0:03:09 > 0:03:12steering areas of low pressure to the north and west of the UK.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14So we will have a north-west/south-east split
0:03:14 > 0:03:17with spells of wind and rain across Scotland
0:03:17 > 0:03:20and Northern Ireland, also temperatures a little bit cooler
0:03:20 > 0:03:21than they should be for the time of year,
0:03:21 > 0:03:23but further south and east,
0:03:23 > 0:03:25closer to that area of high pressure, it should be largely dry
0:03:25 > 0:03:27with some good spells of sunshine
0:03:27 > 0:03:29and it will feel quite warm at times too.
