0:00:04 > 0:00:06As is often the case we saw some pretty big contrast across

0:00:06 > 0:00:09the UK both in terms of the look and the feel of the weather.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11Here's a weather watcher picture from Fife

0:00:11 > 0:00:12in south-east Scotland.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Cloudy, some rain in the air.

0:00:14 > 0:00:16In fact, much of Scotland and Northern Ireland had

0:00:16 > 0:00:18a grey and damp day.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20Quite the opposite for England and Wales.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Plenty of sunshine

0:00:22 > 0:00:25and it was quite warm quite widely.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27The reason for the difference is this weather front which

0:00:27 > 0:00:30overnight is creeping its way across the Irish Sea,

0:00:30 > 0:00:33getting to the western fringes of England and Wales where it's

0:00:33 > 0:00:37quite wet and it's also the dividing line between some warm air in

0:00:37 > 0:00:40England and Wales and something fresher in Scotland and

0:00:40 > 0:00:41Northern Ireland.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45Over the next few days that fresher air wins out.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47It's coming in behind our weather front which is drifting eastwards.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50The rain becomes lighter and more patchy but just ahead of that

0:00:50 > 0:00:52it's going to be quite warm, quite humid and we could see some

0:00:52 > 0:00:55thunderstorms breaking out into the afternoon as temperatures get

0:00:55 > 0:00:58to 25, 26, 27.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Further west it's dry through the afternoon and temperatures

0:01:02 > 0:01:05will be 17 or 18.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08That fresher breeze will head to all parts as we head into the weekend.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10There will be some sunshine around but also a few showers and

0:01:10 > 0:01:13some of those could turn out to be on the heavy side.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15Here's a closer look at Saturday.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18We've got low pressure in the North Atlantic that's driving this

0:01:18 > 0:01:19weather feature towards us.

0:01:19 > 0:01:21That will be a focal

0:01:21 > 0:01:23point for some cloud and some rain

0:01:23 > 0:01:26so the western side of England and Wales turning increasingly cloudy.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Bit of a breeze as well. Northern Ireland will see some rain too.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32That will cross its way into western Scotland as we work our way

0:01:32 > 0:01:33into the afternoon.

0:01:33 > 0:01:36Further south and east it's largely dry and top temperatures down

0:01:36 > 0:01:38by several degrees, only 21 or so.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41And many places 16 or 17.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Through Saturday night into Sunday our weather feature moves

0:01:44 > 0:01:48north across Scotland. The rain becomes a little lighter.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Another area of rain may effect Cornwall on Sunday.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53The western side of the UK at risk from showers.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57Further east it's largely dry. Top temperatures coming down.

0:01:57 > 0:02:0219 by this stage and many places only 14 or 15.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Then as we head towards Monday we're looking out to the Atlantic

0:02:05 > 0:02:07again for this feature to come our way.

0:02:07 > 0:02:11There are some questions about the detail of the rain on Monday

0:02:11 > 0:02:14but it looks like it could be fairly extensive.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17Starts in the west and spreads eastwards.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Not a great start to the new week particularly if you have some

0:02:20 > 0:02:22travel plans on the road.

0:02:22 > 0:02:24There will be a lot of surface water and spray.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27That does move out of the way as we head towards Tuesday but

0:02:27 > 0:02:30still with low pressure to the eastern side of the UK.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33That's where the focal point for some showers is likely to be.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36Eastern side of Scotland and England.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39Outbreaks of rain coming and going. Further west it's largely dry.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Top temperature only 19 in the London area.

0:02:42 > 0:02:4515 or so for many other places.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48Looking ahead to the middle of the coming week looks like we're

0:02:48 > 0:02:52going to see this system coming in from the west.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54A few isobars associated with it.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Windy, maybe blowing a gale in the far north-west but closer to high

0:02:57 > 0:03:00pressure in the south and east it should be fine.

0:03:01 > 0:03:05That high doesn't move too far by the later stages of next week.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Still there with dry conditions across the south-east.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Further north and west we've got these low pressure systems

0:03:11 > 0:03:12moving through.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16They are likely to bring spells of wind and rain.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Wet and windy at times mainly in the north-west.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23A little rain is likely in the south-east but generally that

0:03:23 > 0:03:24bit drier.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28It will feel fresh in the north-west but still warm in the south-east.

0:03:28 > 0:03:29Bye for now.

0:03:32 > 0:03:33Take an aspiring home cook...

0:03:33 > 0:03:34We're in it to win it.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36..team them up with a Michelin starred chef,

0:03:36 > 0:03:38putting their reputation on the line.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Here we go. I love sauces.
