0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. Friday afternoon and East Anglia

0:00:04 > 0:00:06and the south-east was really quite warm air and humid

0:00:06 > 0:00:08and it sparked off some thunderstorms,

0:00:08 > 0:00:11those clearing away into the near continent overnight.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13Then we're looking out to the Atlantic,

0:00:13 > 0:00:15that's where our weather will be coming from the next few days.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18That Atlantic airstream will eventually bring that fresher air

0:00:18 > 0:00:20in to all parts of the UK.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Through the weekend there should be some good opportunities for

0:00:22 > 0:00:25getting out and about with some good spells of sunshine,

0:00:25 > 0:00:26but also some showers in the forecast.

0:00:26 > 0:00:29But make the most of the drier spells through the weekend

0:00:29 > 0:00:32because Monday looks like it'll be turning pretty wet and pretty windy.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34Any early showers in the north-east of England clear out

0:00:34 > 0:00:36into the North Sea, then it brightens up quite nicely.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38Good spells of sunshine for central and eastern areas,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40the odd shower for Wales, the south-west of England,

0:00:40 > 0:00:43but most of the showers Saturday afternoon will be in

0:00:43 > 0:00:44Northern Ireland and in Scotland,

0:00:44 > 0:00:46maybe even the odd rumble of thunder.

0:00:46 > 0:00:4817 or 18 degrees for Glasgow and Belfast,

0:00:48 > 0:00:5221 or 22 degrees in the London area with much lower humidity

0:00:52 > 0:00:56than we've seen in recent days. Should feel a good deal fresher.

0:00:56 > 0:00:58And we keep that westerly airstream coming in for the second part

0:00:58 > 0:01:02of the weekend, and I think you'll notice that fresher feel even more

0:01:02 > 0:01:04because temperatures will be down by just a notch or two

0:01:04 > 0:01:07in comparison with Saturday, but still a decent day for many areas.

0:01:07 > 0:01:10Again, Scotland, Northern Ireland will see the bulk of the showers,

0:01:10 > 0:01:12the odd one for parts of Wales and the south-west of England,

0:01:12 > 0:01:14elsewhere it's largely dry.

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Top temperatures on Sunday around about 19 or 20 degrees.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Now, make the most of the weekend because as we get on into Monday

0:01:21 > 0:01:24things are going downhill, turning really quite wet and quite windy.

0:01:24 > 0:01:26Here's the chart for Monday.

0:01:26 > 0:01:29Quite a deep area of low pressure for early June,

0:01:29 > 0:01:31very tightly-packed isobars,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34so some really strong winds are expected - we're looking at gales

0:01:34 > 0:01:37or even severe gales and you can see the extent of the rain,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39how it covers large swathes of the UK.

0:01:39 > 0:01:41So not a great day, really, on Monday.

0:01:41 > 0:01:44Although many eastern areas will actually start on a dry and

0:01:44 > 0:01:47bright note, clouds over pretty quickly and the rain soon follows.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50It'll be a pretty miserable day if you've got some travelling plans

0:01:50 > 0:01:54and underneath that rain it'll feel on the cool side as well.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56And then on Monday night and on into Tuesday,

0:01:56 > 0:01:59that low pressure system takes its wind and its rain with it.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02It'll be a slow process but it will eventually clear out of the way.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06It allows this north-westerly breeze to come in on Tuesday, so it's still

0:02:06 > 0:02:09quite a breezy day and there will still be some showers dotted around.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12And temperatures, well, it's the middle teens for many places,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15might just about get into the upper teens in the south-eastern corner.

0:02:15 > 0:02:16As we head on to the middle of the week,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18we've got high pressure across the south of the UK,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20low pressure towards the west and the north of the UK.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Quite a few isobars on the chart and this little weather system

0:02:23 > 0:02:26moving its way through, so I think the southern half of the UK

0:02:26 > 0:02:28will be fairly cloudy with some rain moving through.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30The further north you are, it's largely dry,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33but you might run into a few showers there in northern Scotland.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35And again, it's the middle teens to the upper teens,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38maybe the low 20s for some.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40Then later next week, we've still got high pressure across

0:02:40 > 0:02:43the near continent and low pressure to the north and west of us,

0:02:43 > 0:02:45but notice how the isobars turn around to more of

0:02:45 > 0:02:47a southerly direction,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49and that is going to start to pull in some much warmer air.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52So as we head on into Thursday, Friday,

0:02:52 > 0:02:54we start to see that warm air pushing its way

0:02:54 > 0:02:56quite a long way north across the UK,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59so those temperatures will be rebounding back once again

0:02:59 > 0:03:01and that warmer air gets all the way up into the north and

0:03:01 > 0:03:03north-east of Scotland.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06Now, as we look ahead towards next weekend,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08we're looking out into the Atlantic for an area of low pressure.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11The question is, which direction is it heading in?

0:03:11 > 0:03:14It may well go towards the north-west but there's a chance that

0:03:14 > 0:03:17it could slip a bit further south towards southern parts of the UK.

0:03:17 > 0:03:18Either way, next weekend,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21we are looking at spells of wind and rain coming in from the Atlantic.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24It's going to feel quite fresh in the north and west of the UK,

0:03:24 > 0:03:25but hopefully still hanging on to

0:03:25 > 0:03:28a little bit of warmth in the south-east. Bye for now.
