0:00:02 > 0:00:05Well, the sun finally came out on Wednesday after that deluge
0:00:05 > 0:00:07and the gale force winds that we had -
0:00:07 > 0:00:09disruptive winds, in some areas -
0:00:09 > 0:00:12now the weather's going back down the hill again.
0:00:12 > 0:00:13It isn't going to be as bad,
0:00:13 > 0:00:16but we are expecting cloud and some rain on Thursday.
0:00:16 > 0:00:19Now, this is that short spell of settled, much better weather
0:00:19 > 0:00:21we had midweek, and now, later on Wednesday,
0:00:21 > 0:00:24we saw the clouds increasing across western areas,
0:00:24 > 0:00:26already bringing some rain here,
0:00:26 > 0:00:29and, basically, this is the weather for Thursday.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31So, early hours of Thursday,
0:00:31 > 0:00:34sort of a rather elongated area of rain here.
0:00:34 > 0:00:37This is the weather front that's sliding across the UK -
0:00:37 > 0:00:38the winds won't be a problem,
0:00:38 > 0:00:40it's just going to be damp for many of us.
0:00:40 > 0:00:43Most of the heavy rain will be across these western areas -
0:00:43 > 0:00:46and mild in the south, 13, 14 degrees,
0:00:46 > 0:00:47so, damp and mild for many of us
0:00:47 > 0:00:49first thing on Thursday morning.
0:00:49 > 0:00:52That this is where the heaviest of the rain will be,
0:00:52 > 0:00:54across Wales, here, particularly across the hills,
0:00:54 > 0:00:57but much of the Midlands, East Anglia and the south-east,
0:00:57 > 0:00:59probably a fairly dryish start the day.
0:00:59 > 0:01:01We've got some rain moving into Northern Ireland
0:01:01 > 0:01:03at this stage, the north-west of England -
0:01:03 > 0:01:05but northern Scotland, here, actually,
0:01:05 > 0:01:07Stornoway and Kirkwall, Lerwick,
0:01:07 > 0:01:09probably waking up to some sunshine,
0:01:09 > 0:01:10and much fresher here.
0:01:10 > 0:01:12A much fresher sort of start to the day.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14And then, through the course of Thursday,
0:01:14 > 0:01:16this area of low pressure -
0:01:16 > 0:01:17the centre of it is actually here -
0:01:17 > 0:01:20this long weather front stretching across the UK,
0:01:20 > 0:01:22well, this is where the wettest of the weather
0:01:22 > 0:01:24is going to be, across Northern Ireland
0:01:24 > 0:01:26through the day, north-western England,
0:01:26 > 0:01:28eventually into central parts of Scotland.
0:01:28 > 0:01:29To the south of that,
0:01:29 > 0:01:31the rain is a little bit more bitty,
0:01:31 > 0:01:32you've got spits and spots,
0:01:32 > 0:01:33and relatively mild -
0:01:33 > 0:01:36these are south-westerly winds coming through.
0:01:36 > 0:01:39And then, through the course of Thursday night into Friday,
0:01:39 > 0:01:40that low still over us -
0:01:40 > 0:01:42there's another one heading our way,
0:01:42 > 0:01:45but the remnants of the low is still with us here,
0:01:45 > 0:01:47so, that means, I think, a mishmash of sunny spells,
0:01:47 > 0:01:50a few showers, maybe, in the morning,
0:01:50 > 0:01:51and then, in the day,
0:01:51 > 0:01:52it actually dries out on Friday.
0:01:52 > 0:01:54So, Friday is looking pretty good, I think,
0:01:54 > 0:01:56for most of us across the UK -
0:01:56 > 0:01:57bar the odd shower here and there.
0:01:57 > 0:01:59The winds will be lighter and it will feel warmer.
0:01:59 > 0:02:01So, at the end of the working week,
0:02:01 > 0:02:04for most of us, looking absolutely fine.
0:02:04 > 0:02:07Now, the weekend is, admittedly, looking very mixed.
0:02:07 > 0:02:09So, another low pressure comes through,
0:02:09 > 0:02:11so, we're getting low after low after low this week.
0:02:11 > 0:02:12This is in the morning.
0:02:12 > 0:02:15Let's have a look at it a little bit more closely, then -
0:02:15 > 0:02:16so, a fair bit of rain around,
0:02:16 > 0:02:18we're thinking, first thing in the morning,
0:02:18 > 0:02:20particularly across western areas of the UK,
0:02:20 > 0:02:21and the north-west, too,
0:02:21 > 0:02:24and then that rain pushes northwards and eastwards,
0:02:24 > 0:02:26and then, behind it, it sort of improves a little bit,
0:02:26 > 0:02:28so, actually, later in the afternoon
0:02:28 > 0:02:30on Saturday, things might brighten up.
0:02:30 > 0:02:32So, by no means is Saturday going to be a write-off -
0:02:32 > 0:02:35the morning might be wet, not later in the day.
0:02:35 > 0:02:37Sunday, the low is still with us,
0:02:37 > 0:02:39so, still relatively unsettled,
0:02:39 > 0:02:41but I think, out of the two days,
0:02:41 > 0:02:43Sunday is going to be the better day.
0:02:43 > 0:02:45There'll be more dry weather around,
0:02:45 > 0:02:46the morning will be brighter,
0:02:46 > 0:02:48the afternoon will be bright - if not sunny -
0:02:48 > 0:02:50in some areas, and those temperatures
0:02:50 > 0:02:52getting up to around 23 degrees, there,
0:02:52 > 0:02:53in the south-east.
0:02:53 > 0:02:54Now, early next week,
0:02:54 > 0:02:56the low pressure is still close by.
0:02:56 > 0:02:57It's across Scandinavia -
0:02:57 > 0:03:00it is still dragging in some cooler air
0:03:00 > 0:03:01to northern areas,
0:03:01 > 0:03:03but, essentially speaking,
0:03:03 > 0:03:05I think it's a picture of sunny spells and showers.
0:03:05 > 0:03:07Then, middle of next week,
0:03:07 > 0:03:09the low's completely gone,
0:03:09 > 0:03:10Jet stream's deflected here,
0:03:10 > 0:03:12so this is where the unsettled weather is.
0:03:12 > 0:03:14We are under the influence of a high,
0:03:14 > 0:03:16and actually, it's probably going to be warming up, as well,
0:03:16 > 0:03:18so, the outlook for later on next week
0:03:18 > 0:03:19is looking pretty good.
0:03:19 > 0:03:21It might be a cool and showery start,
0:03:21 > 0:03:23but, then, midweek, that high-pressure -
0:03:23 > 0:03:24I just showed you that egg-shaped high -
0:03:24 > 0:03:26it builds, and then it's going to turn
0:03:26 > 0:03:27a little bit warmer.
0:03:27 > 0:03:29So, overall, looking pretty good.
