0:00:02 > 0:00:05Hello, there. Low pressure was the driving force behind our weather for the start of the weekend.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08A fair bit of cloud, rain for many, but not the south east,

0:00:08 > 0:00:09it was fine, sunny, and quite warm.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12But that weather front, overnight, will drift its way towards

0:00:12 > 0:00:15the south east, bringing cloud and maybe a spot or two of rain.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18But low pressure really is the driving force of our weather

0:00:18 > 0:00:20for the second part of the weekend as well.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Quite a few isobars on the chart.

0:00:22 > 0:00:24That means it is going to be quite a breezy day, strongest winds

0:00:24 > 0:00:27always across the north and the west of the UK.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29And that is where you will find most of the showers.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32Scattered showers, really, for the western side of England and Wales.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34The showers will be a bit more frequent in Scotland

0:00:34 > 0:00:36and in Northern Ireland, too.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38A slice of sunshine down through the Midlands,

0:00:38 > 0:00:40but some parts of East Anglia, the far south east, it will be

0:00:40 > 0:00:43fairly cloudy with a little bit of light rain and drizzle on and off.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45Not quite as warm as today but still into the low 20s in the

0:00:45 > 0:00:49south-eastern corner, and 16, 17, or 18 for Glasgow and Belfast.

0:00:49 > 0:00:50Into the evening,

0:00:50 > 0:00:53we've still got showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55One or two in the western side of England and Wales.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58The further east you go, it's essentially a fine and dry story,

0:00:58 > 0:01:00and by dawn on Monday,

0:01:00 > 0:01:03temperatures will be down to roundabout 12 or 13 degrees,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06maybe just a little bit lower than that as you head up towards

0:01:06 > 0:01:09the northern isles but even here, we are staying with double figures.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13Now, Monday itself, I think we've still got some showers forecast,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15mainly in the north-western quadrant of the UK.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17One or two cropping up further south, but generally,

0:01:17 > 0:01:19I think it's largely dry here.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Not particularly windy the further south you happen to be but

0:01:22 > 0:01:25there will be some strong winds for a time in southern Scotland,

0:01:25 > 0:01:27down in the central lowlands in particular,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29and temperatures down by a notch or two again, roundabout 19 or 20

0:01:29 > 0:01:33degrees in the south-eastern corner, 14, 15, or 16 for Glasgow,

0:01:33 > 0:01:35and in Belfast.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Now, to get on into Tuesday,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39we see pressure trying to build from the south,

0:01:39 > 0:01:41but equally we've got these weak weather fronts

0:01:41 > 0:01:44just grazing their way by the north west of the UK

0:01:44 > 0:01:46so we will see some thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49Moving away from Northern Ireland and pushing into central Scotland,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51the bulk of England and Wales looks like it will have

0:01:51 > 0:01:53a pretty decent day, light winds, patchy cloud, some sunshine,

0:01:53 > 0:01:57and temperatures in the upper teens or the low 20s quite widely.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Maybe down to about 15 or so in the north of Scotland.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Then, as you head on into Wednesday, pressure still building from

0:02:04 > 0:02:06the south, but equally we've still got these weak weather fronts

0:02:06 > 0:02:08just going around the top of that high,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11bringing again a bit of a breeze towards the north west of the UK

0:02:11 > 0:02:13and some cloud and outbreaks of rain as well.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16But again on Wednesday, England and Wales,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18it looks like it will be another pretty decent day.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20Patchy clouds, sunny spells, light winds as well,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23and that bit warmer, 25 degrees or so in the south east.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25In the low 20s quite widely.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27Even in Scotland, Northern Ireland, it's the upper teens.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Now, as we look further afield, we have to think about the upper

0:02:30 > 0:02:33atmosphere and what is happening with the jet stream.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Potential developments in the United States have implications

0:02:35 > 0:02:38further downstream for us, but at the moment

0:02:38 > 0:02:40it looks like the jet stream, as it makes it way across

0:02:40 > 0:02:43the Atlantic, will be flattening out to some degree.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45It will still be picking up some areas of low pressure and

0:02:45 > 0:02:48pushing them towards us but at the moment, as we look towards the

0:02:48 > 0:02:52latter part of next week, this is what the overall setup looks like.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56High pressure to the south of the UK should keep things fairly quiet

0:02:56 > 0:02:58but we've got low pressure not too far from the north and west,

0:02:58 > 0:03:01so that means a higher chance of seeing cloud and outbreaks of rain.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04It looks like that low will get nearer as we head towards

0:03:04 > 0:03:07next weekend, but equally that high builds in across the southern

0:03:07 > 0:03:10half of the UK, and that will bring fine and settled weather with it.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Winds goes clockwise around that high,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15that will be bringing some pretty warm air up from the south,

0:03:15 > 0:03:17but next weekend, yes, we are looking at rain at times,

0:03:17 > 0:03:20in the north and west of the UK, it will be quite breezy as well.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Elsewhere, it should become mostly dry, and as I said,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25we've got those southerly winds coming around that high

0:03:25 > 0:03:27and that's going to warm things up quite nicely.
