0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello there. So far, this week has been relatively quiet and,

0:00:04 > 0:00:05in actual fact,

0:00:05 > 0:00:08the weather patterns that we have had have been stuck in repeat and,

0:00:08 > 0:00:11in fact, Thursday's Weather Watchers illustrates this beautifully.

0:00:11 > 0:00:14The north-west again cloudy with outbreaks of showery rain

0:00:14 > 0:00:17through the afternoon in Scotland but,

0:00:17 > 0:00:19into the south-east corner across that Kent coast,

0:00:19 > 0:00:24we had an early afternoon high of 25 degrees, 77 Fahrenheit.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27This band of cloud, though, was a weather front.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30A weak affair, it brought more cloud as it pushed south and east, and it

0:00:30 > 0:00:35introduced fresher air following on behind and a scattering of showers.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38That's going to be the theme as we run through Friday.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41A change to hotter weather returning as we move into the weekend.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45But, for the bulk of Friday, central and southern areas dry and sunny.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47The south-westerly breeze just driving in

0:00:47 > 0:00:51a little more cloud and some drizzle and mist across the far north-west

0:00:51 > 0:00:52but, with some brightness,

0:00:52 > 0:00:54we could see highs of 20, 21 degrees here,

0:00:54 > 0:00:5823 not out of the question in the south-east corner.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00As we move out of Friday into Saturday,

0:01:00 > 0:01:02things stay relatively quiet and, in fact,

0:01:02 > 0:01:03for the start of the weekend,

0:01:03 > 0:01:06that high pressure stays with us across England and Wales,

0:01:06 > 0:01:09all the time just seeing these weather fronts toppling

0:01:09 > 0:01:12through the top and still producing that breeze,

0:01:12 > 0:01:17that drizzle and also some misty, murky conditions on the coast.

0:01:17 > 0:01:20So we start off on Saturday on a mild, murky note to the north-west.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24Lots of sunshine further south, and that is just going to allow

0:01:24 > 0:01:27those temperatures to climb quite quickly on Saturday,

0:01:27 > 0:01:29and the humidity starts to build.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31So, by the middle of the afternoon, we could potentially see

0:01:31 > 0:01:35temperatures mid to high 20s not out of the question.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38Little bit fresher where the cloud and the breeze sit to

0:01:38 > 0:01:41the north-west of the Great Glen in particular.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43Spot the difference as we move out of Saturday into Sunday.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47Still the high pressure in the driving seat across

0:01:47 > 0:01:48much of England and Wales.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Still that weather front trailing across the top,

0:01:51 > 0:01:52but the heat will continue to build.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56On Sunday, potentially somewhere in the south-east could see

0:01:56 > 0:02:00highs of 29 or 30 degrees, and it really will start to get

0:02:00 > 0:02:02quite humid and feel uncomfortable out there.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06High UV levels as well - that's worth bearing in mind.

0:02:06 > 0:02:09As we move into Monday, it still stays hot, but just watch

0:02:09 > 0:02:12this area of low pressure trying to build from the south-west.

0:02:12 > 0:02:17So, on Monday, we still could get high 20s, possibly into 30 degrees.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20And perhaps the rain not as significant in the far north,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23but that north-easterly breeze just making it feel on the chilly side.

0:02:23 > 0:02:28By the time we get out of Monday into Tuesday, we continue to see

0:02:28 > 0:02:32that north-westerly breeze, so it will be chillier in the far north.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35At the same time, we could, with that humidity,

0:02:35 > 0:02:38see a few isolated but sharp thundery downpours

0:02:38 > 0:02:39develop into the south-east,

0:02:39 > 0:02:43and that's going to be the trend into the longer 6-10 day period.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46A lot of uncertainty about looking ahead.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48But this is the scenario at the moment.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51An area of low pressure moving into the south-west could trigger off

0:02:51 > 0:02:54some thunderstorms which will drift further north.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57Some of those could be heavy and possibly thundery.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59Now, that low will eventually move north-west,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01amalgamate with another low, potentially pushing in from

0:03:01 > 0:03:05the Atlantic, and then we're back to this north-westerly pattern

0:03:05 > 0:03:09with the low up in the north-west and high pressure dominating

0:03:09 > 0:03:11down to the south, which basically means we see

0:03:11 > 0:03:15a return to cloudier, more unsettled breezy conditions to the north-west.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18The best of the sunshine and the heat in the south but, again,

0:03:18 > 0:03:20as the humidity builds,

0:03:20 > 0:03:24that could potentially trigger off some sharp and thundery downpours.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28As I say, a lot of uncertainty about the 6-10 day period.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30We'll firm up on those details tomorrow.
